I have the same fan. I use an Room AC during the afternoon, but for most of the day, this fan is better and cheaper option than the AC. It's also extremely easy to install, takes like 10 seconds lol.
I am using this fan for my second night now and the sound of it on high isn’t actually that loud. It is seriously just background fan noise. And I am sensitive to noise. I found that in a closed room, it’s best to have it on exchange. When I had it on “in”, it brought in not just the night air but also the humidity. Changing it to exchange immediately felt better. So far I like this fan. I wish it was an air conditioner in this 99° temperature but you can only get so much for the money. :)
I'm glad I found your video. I have the exact same model that I got from costco long time ago and just decided to install recently. I taught it was defective because the speed light is going in cycling and turns off. Then all of a sudden it will turn the fan back on and the same activity on the speed light until you mention the the mode button for the thermostat that you can turn it off.
I just installed my first Bonaire fan, this exact model. I ordered it from Amazon. I watched your video, and your detail explanation is on point, even when you discussed the battery install in the remote. Yes, getting the back off is tricky. One point I need to mention, my purchase did not include batteries. Thanks for this very helpful video.
Thanks for the comment Bulb Man. Do you know if your fan also starts up at high speed before setting back to the speed you selected? I'm trying to nail down when the fans were manufactured that didn't do that.
@@MikeMu i know i'm a bit late, but most fans do that by design. its so the fans have enough power to actually get going from a standstill. if they didn't start in high, the motor would stall

Sometimes I just like manual switches without all the "beeps" and LED lights. Has a small electrical board that could give problems. The manual ones I bought seem simple with less stuff to break.
The best window fan to buy is a vintage 1970s Marvin screened window fan u can find them at thrift stores and Antquie stores they where made in the United States built to last
Summer gets up to 99 or higher. The dripping moisture kind. I live in an apartment on the second floor with horizontal sliding windows. Most window AC’s need vertical sliding or a custom barrier to keep them in. Since I’m on the second floor and the windows are far above the ground on the hottest side (my room and living room). Installing one would be expensive. So in comes in these fans. I have 2 windows and 3 sliders. I have one in my bedroom. My living room window can open on both sides and slides inward. So the side on the right has the fan and the side on the left just stays open. I set both fans to ‘out’ and can comfortably be in my apartment even when it gets to 105 outside. *I set mine to start at 80. If I’m home as soon as they turn on I move them to turn off at 70. Then back to start at 80. The reason for this is that before 80 there isn’t much stale air as there’s cool air from the previous night and you don’t want to blow that air out. But once 80 hits. The warm air starts creeping in and that’s when the circular flow is best. And 70 because when it turns off at 68. There’s a slight chill and the more stale air you get out and cool air you get in the longer it takes for warm air to be a problem. Took a week of doing this and now I can notice a warmth if it’s 95+ but more in the need a short sleeve way. (If gone I’ll just let it turn off and on at 80)
While its on, push and hold the power button for a couple seconds and itll shut right off. Better than going through the other speeds just to shut it off.
Excellent video! Thank you. I've had this awhile and it's great. Unfortunately the unit cannot be toggled between old Fahrenheit and world Celsius (I was hoping your video would show me a secret not found in the manual!), but of course that's on them, not you.
for the money, this is a great buy....have 2 and use the multi-flow feature, but, they get filthy when pulling in outside air. I've tried that one. The noise vs airflow was not good enough for me. However, where you might want to use that is if you cannot afford to have a wide enough opening for your windows. I just got the Genesis Max Cool version of my Holmes for my brother and the motor makes too much humming sound at all three speeds that it has. The low isn't low enough and the medium and high aren't that much more powerful. I'm returning it to Amazon. Not sure which one to get instead but your Bionaire maybe the right one. Hopefully it's available from Amazon. Enjoy! Prost
Good to know, thank you for this comment. I appreciate it because I am debating between the two of these. I find it better because it will be set vertically instead of horizontally.
Hi Mike. Your meaning about this item is the best. what do you mean by that? the twin fan type or this brand is the best? I am planning buying the three type. But if the twin is better, ill have to switch for twin. Are the twin fan blade larger then the three blade BIONAIRE ?
Mike Mu . You mention you wanted the low speed to be lower. Here i have you the solution. My only issue with this es the cleaning. It’s too hard to open and clean. It’s a nightmare. I Can breath dirty air from all the dirty attached to it. Looking for another brand. Anybody know a better option?
It's not what I would consider a whole house circulator. You need a big, loud fan typically with metal blades. The fuse is replaceable in current models right at the plug with a small screwdriver. I have one covering a 1000 sq foot area drawing air in from one side, out the other and it works great! Obviously I think this is the best in class in 2019, and unless I see a better one this year its going to keep its crown.
@@MikeMu Thank you for responding. Interesting that you mentioned the whole house fans because I have also been researching those as well, preferably the quiet cool brand. But for now I am looking for a quiet exhaust fan that I can put in my master bedroom window which is about 170 sq ft. If I do buy this fan and I have issues with the fuse, Can I buy a bigger fuse. Like a 10a or other instead of another 5a? Thank you!
You can. Unfortunately I don’t have access to vertical windows that will fit it at this time. There are lips that would hold it in place as long as it fits. Will do a demo next time along with the cleaning (after I find a suitable window).
mine is constantly changing modes and air flow like crazy and it makes all those beeping noises that eventually wake me up at night.. even when it’s not on auto and the buttons on it won’t work either only from the control. I’m thinking I got a bad one. Should I exchange for another or is that normal?
Not normal. The beeping by itself is not. One crazy thought - possible someone or something is causing interference with the remote sensor? Try putting some thick electrical tape / duct tape over the remote sensor on the main unit. See if that changes anything? If not, could be a bad control module. I’d get it replaced.
Sometimes I just like manual switches without all the "beeps" and LED lights. Has a small electrical board that could give problems. The manual ones I bought seem simple with less stuff to break. check Home Depot
i have a window fan not this one but mine foesnt let me use the temperture setting on any setting but high so if i set a temp it the fan turns of and on and stays in high which is loud
Do you know how to put the adjustable extender screen if it came off? the accordion screen bunches up and it won't attach. I have been able to push it down with some pressure and you hear a pop (I assume it's locking in) but it doesn't give me any warning and bunches back up.
Hi John, it should be noted in the manual. There are two tabs that you push in to lock (I presume that's the pop?). Sometimes those tabs pop off so if its missing or damaged you should check there first. Check out my other video that shows a bit of me popping the tabs up and down: ruclips.net/video/3jZUdfxinJU/видео.html
Hi Benjamin, its primarily to exchange (in/out/both) air from around the fan. There is a temperature sensor that can be used to trigger whether the fan blows or sucks air. So if its really cold outside, and you run a heater inside its probably best just to take the fan off and close the window, unless its much warmer outside than inside (which happens in certain homes in certain regions).
Linda Valdez, someone else had the same problem. I thought it was poor power conditions that caused it. Maybe blown fuse. Buying a third one isn’t going to help as it will probably end up the same until the power condition is fixed.
You can. My dad used to mount window fans like this in the top corner inside. It's less effective that way, but it doesn't interfere with the door. While it wasn't designed for patio doors, you can use it like a box fan but just vertically with the patio door closed in holding it in place.
The only complaint I have is mine is noisy. Nosier than my other dual fan which doesn't have remote. But it's quiet. Bionaire is still good but i have to turn mine off due to the noise.
It IS an excellent fan but you missed. two huge issues, and I don't know how you can complain about the beep and LED display. The remote can work in a large room. How do you know the unit is responding without the beep? It's not loud OR unpleasant. LED display too bright? How're you to see the temperature you set? Surprised you didn't notice the biggest issues.. If you've got the unit sitting in the window, and trying to expand it for a good seal, how do you operate the lower latch? Finally, after the unit warms up internally, it doesn't ever shut down, because it thinks the room is still warmer than the set temperature
@@tigergreg8 Not easy to do if the sash counterweight system is broken and the windows are held open by dowels. Also, the sash guides have deep grooves and the fan wings need to fit in those grooves. You need three hands.

@@m3kid Oh yeah, that would help inside. Although fresh air is also important, but in different way. Best ones are pricey though, and by BlueAir ( amzn.to/3m8tOKq ). You'll want to take in the CADR (clean air delivery rate) into account for what room you need to keep clean. I don't smoke, and haven't tested them with smoke. I personally use the Airdog series of air purifiers. amzn.to/3sHT78P I like that it does more than HEPA does, and also has a permanent washable filter that I throw in my dishwasher ever month. My fan, same one, just quit working went to turn it on and was not even lit up anymore. Nothing happens. It's not even old still looks new. I'm going to try changing the plug fuse see what that does. We did have a power outage in the area. May want to add to use a surge protector. Has anyone else have this issue
You can't change the exhaust/intake independently!? So one fan is bringing in cool air and the other sucking it right back out? How on earth is this the best fan you've tested!?
Bob Jackson I simply use one or the other. If I really wanted, I suppose I could reverse the wires. But I simply buy two, set In different modes in different windows. This is the best I’ve tested in it’s price range. Just save your money and get a Holmes.
Worst remote window fan I've worked on... I repair appliances for a living. I fix about 10 window fans a week, mostly these units (WB2300). They are poorly assembled, and the chip develops strange bugs, the thermostat sense wire is often out of place and most customers want the speaker removed. It's got a lot of common problems. Will say the motors and casing are pretty standard.
Hi Shane, Thanks, didn't know about that one. It looks like (from the reviews I've seen so far) they have some quality issues. I'll hold off on this until they get those resolved before testing one out.
@@MikeMu Very few reviews at that. You don't wanna be the guinea pig on this one?! Yeah idk what's up with fuses being such an issue in window fans. Is people's electrical wiring just that unstable/local grids-highs-lows or is it a quality control thing from the manufacturer's 🤷
Shane H It sounds like design to me. They already sell refurbished units for this. My bet is buying a refurbished unit is better than buying new so early in the release.
If you have a newer model the fuse is located at the plug area. I think I might have shown it in the video. That might be where you want to look and get replaced.
Doesn't look like it would work with slim line metal frame windows used in houses built after 1940. This appears to be designed for wooden windows made in the early 1900s.
If you want to tinker with it, probably have to take it apart and find out if its a power issue or a motor issue. My guess is its the electronic board somehow. I haven't had one fail on me yet to take it apart and tinker with though. If/when I do, I'll be share to share what I find out.
They tend to be seasonal items, and stores are stocking them mostly over the summer (at least around here). Hopefully there's a good update next season on some issues reported by others.
It’s probably because it’s sold by a third party seller that jacked up the price (not authorized reseller). Also low supply as people have already bought up all the MSRP priced fans. I would not recommend getting this at $115.
On the newer ones, its tough to get open. You need a small screwdriver to dig into the notch and press down toward the bottom side while having a fingernail or another small screwdriver to open. Luckily, batteries should last quite a while in there.
It comes in and out of stock. I'll revise the link from time to time. I checked this morning, and while my link has it only from third party sellers, FBA ones at a reasonable price came back in stock.
This one? amzn.to/2Y4rYAl Its $250! Well above what I'd pay for a window fan for a bedroom, so was not considered for this video. I'll do a video about it if I can get my hands on one for testing.
@@pavy415 I appreciate the innovation. If they could bring the price down and make it slimmer on the outside, I might be about to get it pass HOA inspection.

Get this specific model series. The triple fan is not as good, but may fit certain windows better.
Mike Mu ow i see. Thank you. I needed one to blow as more air posible. As far posible. So if twin is best ill go for it.
Mike Mu . You mention you wanted the low speed to be lower. Here i have you the solution. It works super super nice. www.google.com/search?q=variable+speed+control+110v+switch&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjLoduj0LXnAhVTW1kKHeXKAKIQ2-cCegQIABAC&oq=variable+speed+control+110v+&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-img.1.0.33i299l3.7997.7997..10270...0.0..0.119.119.0j1......0....1.9KrkmTBQ6fM&ei=wTI4Xou9FdO25QLllYOQCg&bih=553&biw=375&client=safari&prmd=sivn&hl=en-US#imgrc=ifPgMx3rWGktQM
My only issue with this es the cleaning. It’s too hard to open and clean. It’s a nightmare. I Can breath dirty air from all the dirty attached to it. Looking for another brand. Anybody know a better option?
Nice video... I agree.. This is a great fan. I have 2.
What about when it’s off hot air from the outside it’s just seeping through
I've been reading that this fan has a fuse issue. How common is this issue? Does the fan circulate enough air even on high?
Thank you!
Thank you Mike!
YW!
What about when it rains, does it suck water into your house?
Rains don’t get that crazy here in California. It’s a non issue here. I don’t think it will be an issue most places though.
thanks Mike for a nice presentation .. can you install it vertically ... it will be nice if you have a demo or a small video for that
If it rains the water will go in ??
Possible. It'd really have to pour in though. I'd remove it from the window in a major windy downpour.
i have a window fan not this one but mine foesnt let me use the temperture setting on any setting but high so if i set a temp it the fan turns of and on and stays in high which is loud
Can this be used in cold weather? Will I have to take it out so i can run heater in home or how does this keep the temperature in the room ?
Hi Benjamin, its primarily to exchange (in/out/both) air from around the fan. There is a temperature sensor that can be used to trigger whether the fan blows or sucks air. So if its really cold outside, and you run a heater inside its probably best just to take the fan off and close the window, unless its much warmer outside than inside (which happens in certain homes in certain regions).
Can you tell me the length of power cord?
6 Feet. But you can easily use any low amp power extension, such as this 12 footer if needed: amzn.to/2ZjGAcb
Is there a fan that is basically exactly like this one, but without the fuse? I don't want to have to worry about that. Great presentation btw! Thanks
Excellent review. You did a good job.
Mine stopped working out of no where ? Why is that !??? Please respond this is my second fan I got and it Stoped working
Linda Valdez, someone else had the same problem. I thought it was poor power conditions that caused it. Maybe blown fuse. Buying a third one isn’t going to help as it will probably end up the same until the power condition is fixed.
Can i use this on my patio door. In my house all the windows are slide door. Thanks
You can. My dad used to mount window fans like this in the top corner inside. It's less effective that way, but it doesn't interfere with the door. While it wasn't designed for patio doors, you can use it like a box fan but just vertically with the patio door closed in holding it in place.
I would recommend cleaning it at least once a year.
The only complaint I have is mine is noisy. Nosier than my other dual fan which doesn't have remote. But it's quiet. Bionaire is still good but i have to turn mine off due to the noise.
Where can I buy the. Fusible to change in plugging part. ?
Hardware store. I found them at Ace Hardware.
Dear Mike very detailed review. I finalize my purchase of this fan after watching your review.
Pick up the fan, set the slide to the window, and put the fan down at desired length.
@@tigergreg8 Not easy to do if the sash counterweight system is broken and the windows are held open by dowels. Also, the sash guides have deep grooves and the fan wings need to fit in those grooves. You need three hands.
Good job!
Is this the only bluetooth window fan on the market? I need one I can control remotely from my phone.
Which window fan do u recommend if price isn’t an issue?
Probably try the EcoBreeze 2. I don't own one, but seen it demonstrated. If I get my hands on one, I'd do a review. amzn.to/3sH7REP
@@MikeMu thanks for ur answer. I’m going to go with ecobrezz. And use ur affiliate link
Thanks. Let me know how it goes. There’s nothing out there quite like it with features. I just think I’d not get the full value of it at the price.
@@MikeMu do u think I would be better off with a stand up air purifier? Like this one. winix 5500-2
I’m trying to accomplish something to clean the air from my cigarette smoke to not bothering my wife and keep the pollen down, my allergies have been really bad.
I personally use the Airdog series of air purifiers. amzn.to/3sHT78P
I like that it does more than HEPA does, and also has a permanent washable filter that I throw in my dishwasher ever month. Keeps recurring costs really low.
If you have a small room to clear out, the X3 also sold by phonesoap is a good deal right now with their spring coupon. go.mikemu.com/phonesoap
I'm going to be releasing a few videos about air cleaner(s) soon as I'm testing them.
Can this be use in a hopper window? God I hate that kind of windows
Afraid not without some serious jury rigging. So no. Not out of the box.
My fan, same one, just quit working went to turn it on and was not even lit up anymore. Nothing happens. It's not even old still looks new. I'm going to try changing the plug fuse see what that does. We did have a power outage in the area. May want to add to use a surge protector. Has anyone else have this issue
Hey Mist. I haven’t personally had that issue, but many others have reported it.
Do you need to remove the bug screen when installing in the window?
I don’t. I put it on inside of the big screen.
@@MikeMu ok, good to know the screen can stay. Thanks!
Sounds about right. How much do you charge to do some of those repairs or modifications? Or do you do warranty repairs?
What is cfm of this fan?
Mike any chance at reviewing the lasko bluetooth window fan? W09560
My fuses blew and fan won’t work now... all three I own doesn’t work after thunder. Storm. Nothing else in house has any issues
If you have a newer model the fuse is located at the plug area. I think I might have shown it in the video. That might be where you want to look and get replaced.
Excellent grammar and use of punctuation!
You have a way with words.
hi. is this window fan can convert to 220v?
where I can get the parts?
Doesn't look like it would work with slim line metal frame windows used in houses built after 1940. This appears to be designed for wooden windows made in the early 1900s.
One of the fans stopped working. How do I fix it?
If you want to tinker with it, probably have to take it apart and find out if its a power issue or a motor issue. My guess is its the electronic board somehow. I haven't had one fail on me yet to take it apart and tinker with though. If/when I do, I'll be share to share what I find out.
How much is it? 3:06am 9/7/2024😮
I bought them from Costco at the time. Unfortunately they have not been back in stock in a while. It was $40 USD at the time of my last purchase.
Cannot find one of these for sale anywhere! Anyone know what happened to them?
They tend to be seasonal items, and stores are stocking them mostly over the summer (at least around here). Hopefully there's a good update next season on some issues reported by others.
I looked this fan up on Amazon a d it was $115. I think that's a lot. I'd spend a bit more and buy a window AC.
It’s probably because it’s sold by a third party seller that jacked up the price (not authorized reseller). Also low supply as people have already bought up all the MSRP priced fans. I would not recommend getting this at $115.
Thank you, I didn't plan on getting it. That's tho much for a window fan. Thanks for the video.
I can not get the remote open to install the batteries. It won't open.
On the newer ones, its tough to get open. You need a small screwdriver to dig into the notch and press down toward the bottom side while having a fingernail or another small screwdriver to open. Luckily, batteries should last quite a while in there.
Is there a way to add a filter?
It’s not built for one. But you can wrap one around I suppose, but probably lose a lot of efficiency.
Hope so; we plan on fitting some 'cut to size' foam ac filter. That type material shouldn't be so restrictive, we hope
what about bugs coming inside?
I have window screens. If not, wrap a window screen around the back and tape.
Is every good i have 1 for 3 years and ay buy 2 more
I haven’t had an issue yet. But like all things, the motors and parts will eventually fail.
The link is pointless. You cant even buy it on Amazon. Its not available
It comes in and out of stock. I'll revise the link from time to time. I checked this morning, and while my link has it only from third party sellers, FBA ones at a reasonable price came back in stock.
looks like mosquitoes would get in the house easily
I use it in front of a screen. Otherwise, yes mosquitos could get sucked in and you'd have mosquito bits.
Cute girl on the Epoch Times commercial!
Mid roll adds are out of control youtube
WTF keeps the flies/insects out when the fan isn't running???? There's no mesh on the back.
I use it with the original screen in place and I recommend you do as well.
Can we use a ac filter with fan
(2HFXRA2) I can't find this fan with that model number.
Help please
That looks like its from my link, its meant to be clickable (not a model number).
Does anyone knows how to open it to clean it? Its driving me insane!!! Lol
I would recommend cleaning it at least once a year.
If he said that this one is the best he ever tested then he has very low testing standards.
I had a set limit, nothing over $100 retail. So yes, I had to lower everything and I still haven't found anything better unless I build one myself.
@@MikeMu exactly
Window fan
This ain't the best window fan the Eco breeze 2 is the best one
This one? amzn.to/2Y4rYAl Its $250! Well above what I'd pay for a window fan for a bedroom, so was not considered for this video. I'll do a video about it if I can get my hands on one for testing.
@@MikeMu yup it's expensive but still the best fan
@@pavy415 I appreciate the innovation. If they could bring the price down and make it slimmer on the outside, I might be about to get it pass HOA inspection.
