Aw, I watched BB being born at the CMZ. Full circle. Will there be a cam running during the birthing process?

I’m thrilled that dear BB is being cared for so well and I hope she has a beautiful, happy & healthy calf. I do think that Jasiri and BB were bred far too young though…barely over three years old.

We're really excited for BB and our teams! We can't wait to continue taking amazing care of her and her calf.
Female giraffes typically become sexually mature around three years old, and this breeding happened naturally within Jasiri and BB's timeline for sexual maturity. To support healthy, natural reproductive cycles, we avoid using contraception for breeding pairs and let nature take its course whenever possible.
This pregnancy is an exciting milestone for our team and for first-time mom BB! As leaders in animal care, we’re proud to support AZA-accredited breeding programs that help protect the future of Endangered reticulated giraffes!
