    Best convert both ways was without a doubt Brad Thorne.. championships on both sides with the Broncos and Crusaders, State of origin winner with QLD and a world cup winner with one of the best if not best All Blacks teams.

      I never understood Brad's eligibility in both codes. In Rugby League he played for both Qld & Australia but in Rugby Union he played for the All Black's. Actually refreshing to hear the panel not buy into the tired old League V Union animosity. They're both great games to watch and have their subtle differences that reward different types of athleticism and strategy. Super Rugby has undergone rule changes that have sped up the ruck so much so that most rucks cycle over quicker than a play-the-ball. And watch France or Finn Russell play and tell me it's not entertaining. It is possible to enjoy both.

    • @rockysmickey3797

      Well said, I'm Irish, we don't have league here. We are enjoying a really good patch. I know Aussie rugby is having hard time, can't believe the super Rugby crowds sometimes. The NRL has a great set up with the tight statiudms and atmosphere. Hope they can strike a balance in future, so much talent over there.

    • @thewielloyd988
      @thewielloyd988 Год назад +2

      @@rockysmickey3797 Yeah Ireland's hit a real purple patch at the right time. Union has had next to no promotion or marketing in Australia for the past decade and a half. Going back to suburban grounds with more atmosphere (like Saturday afternoon in the sun at Coogee Oval by the beach with a few marquees to increase the capacity) would be a good start.

    • @rockysmickey3797

      @@thewielloyd988 totally agree. I lived in Perth for a year and you wouldn't know the force games were on. They only moved to a smaller stadium recently and it's still too big. Brandon nailed it. ARU has sent a message to all young rugby players, "don't bother with rugby, we're picking the best from NRL". Doesn't matter if you started in union, NRL is where we're looking. Might as well put a fork in Australian rugby now. It's done. You want to be known as the best, you want a lucrative career, go play NRL. Look how well that worked when Eddie did it 20 years ago. It took Australian rugby 20 years to recover and was just starting to look like it had it's own identity back and wait a minute, (cue Kylie: "all we can do is, step back in time")

      The Sport where there are close and exciting games every week.
      How many blowouts have you had this year? I thought Union was New Zealand's national sport yet you draw high school rugby crowds with a tennis crowd atmosphere sitting on your arses clapping plays like
      golf supporters embarrassing.

    Too much hate on the sport that spawned the same game the cheese plays right now.... League was doing it for years with union players, but now everyone wants to have a sook when players go the other way.... "Play rugby, you can see the world... league, you can see wigan!"

    Rugby Union is such an important feeder to league, weird for the panel to say that money could go to grassroots when even if it did, NRL scouts will pluck the kid out as a teenager and offer them more money
    Then wonder why Australian Rugby has no big names. You took them all lol

    Love the cheese, hit nail on the head! I think all criticism towards Sualii being all about $$$ is fair & not untrue. Sualii clearly screwed over Souths, then Roosters as a platform to make a name of himself before next phase of his original plan to defect to union to rake in as much $$$ as he can. I bet in 3-5 years time he'll next screw over the ARU & end up playing rest of his career in some rich Japanese or French rugby union club. ARU are idiots bending over backwards to kiss Sualii's ass at expense of their own loyal, hard working grass root players aspiring to also be wallabies. So Criticism of Suaill being a mercenary who only cares about $$$ is 100% deserved. But at end of day, let's face reality for vast majority of professional sports stars, ultimate factor is $$$
