Actually right after Barbie watched hi Ren I had her watch it. I wanted her to get the feel of what he's about and the struggles he's gone through to get to this point in life. It paints the bigger picture of why he's doing what he is doing. Thanks for commenting and supporting us. More Ren is on the way

Great reaction, when he drew the eyes 👀 on the person in the sheet, it was the first time the person in the sheet tried protect themselves.

Really enjoyed your reaction! This was an impressive one take video and performance and the song has a great message. For part 2, make sure to do the lyric video as it is the complete song (vs the live version that is only part of it). Fun fact, they used vegetable oil in the can to make it thicker and shinier. ❤

My take is the guitar player represents the people. The way Ren is dressed to me represents a thug or an assailant that has captured a victim. I also notice Ren plays a narrative role as well as an assailant . When he breaks the 4th wall and addresses the camera head on is when he takes on that narrative part. When he drew the eyes on the captive and tried to pour gas on him, the captive saw what was happening (because now he has eyes) and put his hand up. The assailant now bows the game is over and self destructs . That’s my theory…but no matter what, the amount of talent in this guy is through the roof! Great reaction and keep this man in heavy rotation!
Oh we definitely are going to. He's one of my favorites if not my favorite. I respect his message in his songs and the videos add to it, doing most of his videos in one take. Brilliance at its finest. This video is another one of his complex videos that you have to try and put the pieces in place and we like those. It adds another element to the song. All interpretations are valid, this is art, open for interpretation and so many layers of depth that any single interpretation is limiting.
It was not gas Ren is smarter than that. he did light the lighter, It was oil like salad or olive oil according to the to Samual Perry -Falvey the videographer and that is Romain under sheet
I was gonna say I can't see him doing that. Someone commented and said it was but I was having a hard time believing that. That's awesome Romain was the one under the sheet. I'm onto part 2 next. So excited for it

Hi guys, love your reactions and the way you try to understand the full meaning behind the lyrics. I wanted to suggest a couple of great songs by Chinchilla. Obviously, Fingers-(live) should be at the top of anyone's list but there are a few hidden gems to be found on an EP she released called Awakenings. Three truly superb songs on it are, "Terms and Conditions"(which is quite funny), my personal favourite is "Shadows" and finally "One Time", which might shock you a little, lol. I think the guy in the Sheet is us (Blind to what is going on), When we open our eyes as see what is going on (Drawing the eyes) If we all stand up to them like when he held up his Guitar then they will destroy themselves!
I always assumed it was water in the can. I was mistaken. It was petrol or gas, as you guys call it. This was one take but it took more than a hundred takes over several days to get the final take. The video we just watched was the one occasion when Ren and friends got it right. His dedication to his art is legendary. As usual, part two is a big surprise. I love your reactions. More Ren please.

I think it was actually a mix of some different kinds of oils like olive oil or vegetable oil etc to get the same consistency as gas

It was actually olive oil. He'd have legit blown up if it was petrol. Both Ren and Sam Perry-Falvey have explained how they did it in various interviews.
I was gonna say, I couldn't see him doing it that way. Someone commented that it was gas and I found that hard to believe. Too much risk and he would of literally up with the spark.
Great reaction and take. I always felt like the petrol scene at the end and drawing the eyes was to give them a face to see us and for us to see so they are not faceless and can be blamed for what they are doing. But him deciding to not pore the pertol on them was saying 'theres no point' another one will step in after doing the same thing or worse and it just makes us as bad as them. So poring in on himself was his only way to get out of the money game and maybe show others and bring it to attention like the burning monks did in china years ago. Not sure if that's correct but how I interpreted it.

Great reaction. Our governments are just puppets, like Ren states those in the middle are asleep, doesn't matter if it is left or right, they are different wings on the same bird. Think Ren has already admitted he is an anarchist in songs like crucify your culture (an ode to Rage Against the Machine) like in this one where he almost creates the album cover of the debut album for Rage. Would love to see you react to Crutch featuring Bibi (his bird at the time). Flippin' rips your heart out with a beautiful melodic melody. Cheers.
Oh another little detail - apparently Hi Ren was originally going to end with Ren ‘deleting himself’ the same as at the end of this video, but he decided on the very different ending. I think if I recall correctly, it was after he had the whole “I will rise from the east” section come to him while walking on Brighton beach that the different ending of Hi Ren came to him.

It could be as you interpret it, equally it could be the opposite, where the masked guitarist represents the common people and Ren the powers that be. The coolest thing is that both interpretations work and the overall message remains the same. It is just does the common man self immolate because he can't beat the system or the powers that be self immolate because the common people have opened their eyes to the corruption of the money.

I agree that the system is broken and corrupt and this is another one of those videos that you have to really break down and figure it out. It adds to the song and we really like how he does that. I think this is the 2nd reaction when you’ve said NHS is funded by the government its not it’s funded by the uk taxpayers. Ren went through various test from different doctors in the uk but non of them managed to diagnose him properly it was a doctor in Belgium who finally realised it was Lyme disease he had.
Someone from there commented saying it's the government that does the funding for the hospital. So it's funded by the taxpayers? WTH we're they talking about than? I know taxes are paid for certain things but it was described to me that the government has to fund it themselves. That's why it's not good healthcare. My bad. Misinformation LOL
@@loud_wolves we pay a % of our wages in tax for the usual upkeep of the country but we also pay a thing called national insurance which is a separate tax on your wages and this goes to fund the NHS and to pay you an old age pension when you retire. The problem with the NHS is it’s run by a bunch of idiots that waste loads of money.
Ok maybe they were trying to say it that way, just didn't word it properly. I do apologize. I back what you said though. Just a bunch of idiots wasting loads of money and we're the ones paying the bill for it. Thanks for replying and clearing this up.

Separate feedback if I may - the reactions with the pair of you are great, but any chance you could squash in a bit and zoom the camera in a bit? At the moment, because it’s on such an extreme wide angle, your faces are getting stretched and bent due to the spherical distortion of the lens. This might not be practical, and I bet it would feel weird cramming together but trust me, it would make you both look less distorted in the video :)

Im afraid humanity as Forget the Lesson's we were supposed to Learn in World War 1 and World War 2 .which ended in Europe in 1945 .? Since we have had the Money Game rear its head a gain Margaret Thatcher in Britain. The American military complex in the United States.
Why blame someone else? We're ALL part of this old money game. Until we wake up to that fact and seriously challenge the system, we all share the guilt for letting it continue. The ending could be punishing himself for not challenging the game and just blaming everyone else, or it could be a protest against the game. Self immolation has been an effective form of protest for centuries. Perhaps it could be the protest that sparks change? Maybe it's both punishing himself AND a protest... Point the mirror at ourselves...
That's a very good opinion right there. Got a lot of respect for what you just said. We like reading what everyone has to say in their opinions about a video.
