Hot take in response to your hot take #2: Word count goals set to a larger span of time are good (for me). I've had a healthy relationship with Nanowrimo. Mostly because I have the time to do it (homeschooled student) and I allow myself to write whatever I want. For the past 3 Nano's I've written short fanfiction oneshots, or oneshots in a collection. Instead of having one big story to work on, I've written whatever was inspiring me. This year, I've started recording my daily word counts (sometimes it's zero!), but I don't have a daily or monthly goal to hit... just whenever I feel like writing. Word counts just help me see how much I've accomplished. I do have one word count goal. I still do a lot of "variety writing," so I've set up a goal of 10k words for an original story I want finished by the end of this school year. If I don't have the goal, I get distracted with "new shiny project," so having this goal allows me to chase the small stories that come to mind, while also making progress on the stories I really want to complete. The word count just helps me stick with writing, but I understand how, if you have a negative relationship with them, they are demotivating instead of motivating.
When you said about not needing a 3 act structure i actually breathed the longest sigh of relief because according to many successful authors having this 3 act structure is v v important and it stresses me out because idk where to exactly plant the plot
Different strokes for different people! I'm doing this now, too. but my story is a mess. Not outlining is my thing normally...but. I'm trying to outline another story now. My first time outlining, let's hope it goes well.
I pantsed my whole way through my debut novel lol. I had more stuff to fix and I definitely recommend at least getting an outline down before writing. I did manage to fix the book enough to where I self-published it and it has gotten some very positive reviews on Amazon, though it hasn't gotten many sales. If you wanna be a pantser, go ahead, but be forewarned about the editing process 😂

I have an overall word count goal for my story as a whole, but i dont set myself a daily or monthly count because i am just not that kind of person and i just write when i feel like it and i know if i make myself write just to up that number im not going to like what i made and probably end up scrapping it. I just sat down today after over a month of not even toching it, wrote 800 words, and left, like it's not that big of a deal, i usually write in small sections, enyway, 800 is actually really high for me in one day, its all about not taking it too siriusly and alowing yourself some grace

Each new student will have different powers but some the same for example, teleportation, elemental powers (Earth, Fire, Water and Earth) and Wicca wizards and witches (Wand Magic) and will be with their Founding Families (Those With The Same Powers) for the remaining of the year. Until this year when an unlikely student from a family they thought they would never hear from again shows up and everything changes. Things get bad. Drama escalates within students, professors, and families altogether. It is exceedingly rare for people to have been born with all the powers when people can only have one power. They will be love, betrayal, friendships, and war.
The hot take about plot structure is really interesting, kinda reminds me of Virgina Woolf's idea of the novel, and how she disregards the epic plot and extreme authorial control in favour for more spontaneous realism... I like what u said cuz it kinda validates my lowkey all over the place plot lol😂😂 but in all seriousness I think the less contrived and structured it is the more it can hold authentic human experience. Anyway .
I agree with the sad stories part, because while I don't enjoy sad stories AT ALL, those are the best kind. Yes, I'm crying and I want to smash my TV in half and sue the film director for making such a depressing movie, they have good morals and deep relationships.I love the dead poet's Society because it shares a good message.
The only reason I could think people using word counts is… if a site (like wattpad or something) had a word count limit (which is dumb). I like pansering in order to explore the idea then I refine it and make it better
I totally agree with all of these, especially the word count. I don't really care about word count, HOWEVER, hot take, maybe, idk, page count matters. I'm not sure how to word this in a way that makes sense but in my opinion you need to have a certain amount of pages in order for the story to be...like fully fleshed out and good. (unless it's a really really tiny idea that belong in a novella form, then sure). For me the page count should, at least, end at 330.

Hot Take: Being self published doesn’t give any merit to your writing. Being traditionally published at least ensures that people think your story is good. And that there is a measurable quality that professional beta readers and editors and publishers can provide. Self publishing doesn’t have any of that. Sure your work might be good, but the beta readers and editors are not professionals and are very susceptible to tell you that they like it because they don’t want to hurt your feelings. I’m not saying that if you self publish it’s inherently bad, just that I don’t know if it’s good or bad. With traditionally published I know at the very least it was able to impress people.

After sometimes krishna opened his eyes after deep awakening. And he said this is an example for all the beings that whoever do bad. Either it is about any perspective. A person has to go through consequences of that. But if a person like that surrender me. Then I will give him liberation and provide his soul a better place in my heart. So krishna became determined again for preparation of new challanges again with his this new speech.

Brahmin became very curious. But he got amazed to see that no leaf is remaining here. Then he said to barbarik that you surprised me a lot by you wisdom, good behaviour and archery skill. You are a good human with a good warrior. But my request to you from a kind heart. Plz do not join wrong people. Pls go to Pandavas. Then need a warrior like you. Barbarik said you wasted a lot of time of me sir. Now I do not want to argue with an arrogant Brahmin like you. Just go to hell and leave this place as soon as possible. Barbarik started to go to his house. Then brahmin said plz stop mister. Then barbarik turned and krishna came into his original form. Barbarik smiled and said when you appeared here. He said I know you are a very great warrior barbarik. But I am into a human form here. So I also have to follow some my duties here. Because I will give up. Then it will be very shameful for even me too. So I care about it a lot. But I also respect you from my heart. Even you are bigger than me now. So I am locating your head on top of arunachal hill. So you can enjoy the action drama of battle of Mahabharat. This will be good fun too. But this will be very disgusting to participate in a battle like that for you. Because you are kuch more above then it. This battle does not suit you. But my heart suits you. This is your real place. Barbarik head said this will be my biggest pleasure sir. Then krishna shifted his head to top of arunachal mountain. Then krishna was looking at barbarik body. And that was also painful for him too. He said oh my god even as as a god what kind of things I also have to do. God job is really not easy. He turned barbarik body by his divine intense fire. And a big smoke appeared there. Krishna enters into this smoke and all ashes of barbarik wrapped up around him. Krishna said I am so pleased with this ash. Because this ash is so pure as like your heart barbarik. Krishna went to sit in meditation at that place where barbarik was sitting. Then he turned inside with all the ashes to absorb the energy of it for his purification and a better enlightenment. After sometimes krishna opened his eyes after deep awakening. And he said this is an example for all the beings that whoever do bad. Either it is about any perspective. A person has to go through consequences of that. But if a person like that surrender me. Then I will give him liberation and provide his soul a better place in my heart. So krishna became determined again for preparation of new challanges again with his this new speech.
