One day you will be a Senior developer helping to manage a large team. You have the personality and the skills will come in time. Keep at it and don't give up!
I'm a couple days into the Todo project and I'm loving how it ramps up the difficulty just right. It's like the library mixed with tic tac toe, mixed with the restaurant page. Really good stuff, and while it was a rough time getting started, doing things wrong taught me how to do things right. Really rewarding stuff.
Just found you, and I just love the fact that you are still going! I know how hard it is to stay motivated to program, because I quited before. Watching you gave me motivation to start again, thanks!
Keep making content. Launch School is a good paid self paced program with checkpoints and coding interview you must pass to proceed to the next section. Its $200 a month usually takes 1.5 - 2 years to complete.
Hey! I stumbled onto this video. I hope you’re still going strong, this walkthrough was awesome. The way you interpret concepts and use funny names to make it stick in your mind is brilliant 😂
I'm glad you enjoy the names and humour, helps commit things to memory! I'm not doing Odin anymore, but still learning coding and computers! Hope you're doing well too and thanks for the nice comment :)
I'm still new, but I remember when I started.. Damn it was hard.. It still is but when you look back, you should see a major improvement Keep it up, much love from the programming community!
Look at your first videos on Odin and compare what you are explaining then and what you are explaining now. Awesome going! Former health care Professional here too. Now an IT project manager but hoping to learn to do code magic instead just watch it happen on my request. Reason to learn coding too so one can speak code with devs.
Love it! Glad to hear you're thriving and wanting to learn some magic! And thanks for pointing out the improvement. It's easy to forget where I started XD
I don't think they implied anywhere that you were supposed to make the site entirely using javascript, the only part where you would create things using js would be the task part which would be automatically generated according to which project you clicked on.
Yo! Greetings from Indonesia. I'm currently learning to program too. I don't use the Odin project though, I just learn technology that is relevant to the job market, I'm focusing on the front end now but I definitely want to eventually branch out to the backend stack. Did you learn for fun I might ask? cuz from what I know this is really advanced stuff, no wonder you need extra time to figure it out. It's really awesome to see you pull through though, so congratulations!. Normally from what I gather from people I talk to and research I have done when you have the fundamentals knowledge of js and more advanced concepts (ex: async/promises. oop and classes, fetching API, array methods) in your grasp instead of doing this route, you can just safely jump to popular frameworks like react or vue just to make sure you are marketable as quickly as possible. But don't mind me, I'm also just a beginner and my goal is actually to get a job as fast as possible so we might have a different goal. I don't do coding for fun, it can be fun sometimes but at the end of the day it's just a job and there are certainly many activities I much prefer over coding if I can choose. You do what you do, I just want to share my insight. See brad's video from Traversy media on the web development 2022 practical guide if you are interested to learn more about this topic. I currently plan to look for a job while learning react at the same time just to see if I can get lucky and land my first job, so wish me luck!
I’m about to start the rock paper scissors project tonight. Just seeing other people at different parts of the course makes me really excited to see what I’m going to be able to do in a month or two. I can’t wait to finish this course
@@trshpuppy I came back to this video because I'm about to start the restaurant page project. Obviously it took me more than a moth or two to get here lol.
@@trshpuppy well the restaurant page project was super easy for me, I finished it in like two days. However the ToDo list seems a little more scary. It took me so long to get here because life got in the way and it set me back some. I do wish i could dedicate more time to this coding stuff but i do what i can. Anyway, thanks for making these videos. It's great to see other people who are in the same path as me. Keep killing it
@@FMGA14 Thanks! Maybe try 100 Days of code? If you can manage even one line of code for 100 straight days, it will keep you progressing even when you can't commit a bunch of time to it everyday. Codewars is also a good easy way to do a little bit every day. Anyway, I wish you luck and hope you stick to it if you like it!
Hey! Thanks for the kudos. I decided to dual boot my windows computer with Ubuntu, so I do all my coding on Ubuntu! A VM could work too but Windows 11 doesn't support virtual box last I heard and VMs can run slow if they don't have enough hardware resources, at least in my experience.
@@trshpuppy that's awesome. The odin project is very rewarding but my brain broke when I got to Webpack lol. Still planning out how to make the restaurant site using modules
@@Whatdisaypt1and2 Webpack still breaks my brain, don't worry! I had a lot of fun with the Restaurant page and you are free to look at the code and ask questions if you think it might help you plan for yours!
The biggest complaint I have with the Odin Project is that I'm not sure if I'm progressing or not. How can I be sure that I completed all the intended tasks. I can make it work. But maybe not in the way I was supposed to.
This is definitely a tough question! If it works, it works, but is it done the best way? I think the only way you can know for sure is having someone who knows about coding look at your code and review it with you! If that's not possible, you can supplement the Odin Project with sites like Codewars or LeetCode where you can work through bit-sized coding problems and compare your answers to other users'. I'm actually going to make a video about this after the Holidays because it has helped me out a lot with learning how to code!
im on day 2 of to do list and its made me consider a career in stripping
This iis my favorite comment XD

On the same situation rn haha

I'm not certain b/c this was a while ago. Also, the Odin Project repo changes a lot. It could have been 100% JS when I went through, but I'm not sure.
I am almost done with the foundations part of the odin project and JavaScript is kicking my ass 🫠
Congrats! But also, yeah, JS is a lot to learn after CSS and HTML. You can do it though, good luck!

Good job on the progression you’ve inspired me to start grinding with the Odin project. Do you use a vm with Linux or use windows to do your coding?
