    If you are constantly feeling the symptoms she describes (plus even worse) this could easily be vestibular migraine in a CHRONIC form. When vestibular migraine presents in a chronic form, where you are having attacks so frequently the symptoms never calm down, you will feel dizzy, blurred vision, “off,” light/sound sensitivity, derealization like you are in a dream like state, tinnitus, headache and many others. The difference in you feel these symptoms wax and wane constantly - this means chronic vestibular migraine pattern and not episodic as she is primarily referring to here. The treatment though is similar I just wanted to share this in case someone watching this thinks “oh my dizziness or condition is much worse than 20 mins of vertigo, it must not be vestibular migraine.” If you have ruled out BPPV and have a history of vertigo episodes with other features it is most likely vestibular migraine. Find a doctor that really knows about it as many do not.

    I dropped out of a world top 20 university because of this. For over two years, doctors insisted that my vertigo was stress-related because of the intense nature of my studies. I had my doubts, but I still went through psychiatry and psychotherapy because I thought they knew best. Now that my maximum candidature period has passed, I am finally diagnosed with vestibular migraine because I started having tinnitus together with the vertigo even while being stress-free at home. 😭

    I have vestibular migraine but also 24/7 mid level vertigo and imbalance. My migraines are caused by visual movement, so I can’t avoid my triggers. I also have all the symptoms of vestibular and proprioception processing disorder. After speaking to other migraine sufferers with processing disorders, I believe I had a severe migraine from stress that made the processing disorder symptoms worse. I also now have myoclonic epilepsy, also triggered by visual stimulation.

    I just recently got diagnosed with this migraine and I would say its less of a spinning/vertigo feeling and more of a light headedness. I had an "almost fainting" moment twice while driving 2 days in a row and that's when I decided to get a check up. It was tunnel vision, light headedness and nausea, it lasted a few seconds but then the drunk feeling lasted for a few days, like I'm not in my body and living in autopilot. I have a history of migraines but not often only when I'm stressed or lacking in sleep. The vestibular migraine began because I was over working myself, lack of sleep, and excessive drinking all in one. I believe this was the trigger, now whenever I go on a drinking binge, I have to expect the next day will be migraine filled. I cannot tell the difference between my hangover and the migraine symptoms, its odd. I checked in ear, cardio and neuro drs and the neuro dr diagnosed me. the headaches come and go but its mainly light headedness and nausea. Im a 21 year old and its been debilitating.

What appalled me was the suddenness of the attacks. I would be walking along and suddenly I'd be on the ground with my head spinning wildly or I'd instantly be nauseous for no reason. In my worst attack I was in bed for 3 days, unable to move or eat and the room had to be as dark as I could get it. I had some eye training to try and alleviate the problem but that had no effect. I still get bouts but they're much less severe now.

      That's not what she said, she said it was associated with anxiety if untreated (ie it causes anxiety when you feel this awful and no one knows what's wrong with you because you don't get headaches so it can't be migraine), and that anxiety makes it worse. Anxiety/stress makes pretty much any physical health condition worse, as it does a number on our nervous, digestive, immune and endocrine systems.
      Yes many of us have been told so many times it's all in our head (actually now I think about it, it is kind of all in our heads, but that's not quite what they mean). That isn't a reason to dismiss doing things to reduce stress or anxiety as she advises which can be massively beneficial to our overall health.

    This is often easily correctable by an upper cervical chiropractor. Less than 2% specialize in this field but they can often be related to a misalignment at the very top bone in the neck. I see cases like this every day in practice. People respond amazingly Hey baby since when does bone is my slime blocks cerebrospinal fluid flow and blood flow. When we carefully correct the misalignment all of it normalizes. Obviously there are more than one cause but this is a big one

      Cervicgenic dizziness (vestibular.org/cervicogenic-dizziness) can be treated with upper cervical alignment. However, this is not a treatment for vestibular migraine, which is managed with diet, medication, and lifestyle changes. I find your video to be let’s say...about 50% misleading and 50% true. You give the impression that a person with vestibular migraine can adapt to a normal life - that is not possible. A person with VM has to go to a modified “normal” life planned to avoid triggers. A life with trigger avoidance is NOT a “normal” life. You don’t avoid the triggers and you go back to misery, and I don’t care what level of retraining relying on “neuroplasticity”. In fact it is not even possible to be 100% symptom free ever, I don’t care what medication you take, what trigger avoidance you do or what type of retraining you do, there is always a residual of symptom that stays as a baseline. I don’t undermine your proposal as an effective way to treat this disgraceful condition, but CAREFUL with setting the wrong expectations - becoming a “normal” person, if you were born with VM, is just not possible.

    I had one today. Headache Monday, exhaustion Tuesday, bad headache Wednesday, boom migraine Thursday. It felt like my brain was squelching side to side and I was rocking side to side and spinning. I've never had that with my migraines before so it was quite alarming, also joined by muscle weakness, numbness in my face and aura. No triggers out of the ordinary. How can I make sure I don't keep getting them? My head felt better for about an hour but now I can feel a migraine starting on the other side of my head. 😥 I can't even go to the doctor for pain relief because of the lockdown.

    I’ve been diagnosed with migraines from a neurologist, tried a lot of different medication but none has seem to make any difference, some days I wake up like there’s nothing wrong, but 90% of the time I wake up feeling a constant head pressure and dizziness, also have visual disturbance such as things moving and twisting and a strobe light effect when I’m looking at things. I’ve tried changing diet and taking supplements to see if it makes any difference. The headaches are always a lot worse in the morning and it makes my whole body feel weak and tired. I’ve tried exercising but it makes me feel extremely lightheaded and need to lie down afterward. Is there anything else I could try to make me feel a bit better?

    • @VestibularVeDA
      @VestibularVeDA  6 лет назад

      The brain can be rewired through repetition. That's why so much vestibular rehabilitation therapy is about repeating exercises. Eventually the brain gets used to the new input and expects it, so it doesn't set off warning signals because the vestibular system isn't functioning as it should be, which cause you to be dizzy.
