My father owned a 92 Sonata, and had kept it until 2006, until it got into a car accident. It was in proper shape, and had almost no problems. Anyways, Hyundai has been increasing the price on almost each of their vehicles, and surprisingly, despite these increases, the sales have been increasing each quarter. I think the people at Hyundai-KIA did a great job in changing what Hyundai is thought of.
You have to remember Hyundai was from a country that was still developing. Once it was 2000, things started to become a lot better. Hyundai and KIAs are best known for the best value for your money.
Let's grow up and realize that Hyundai isn't what it used to be. If they still "snicker" how come each Hyundai model continue to have bigger sales each month? Hyundai has increased the prices on their vehicles, yet increasing sales? 198 hp and 22/35 MPG -- Don't doubt that, it's a true fact. Sonata has a 10-year bumper to bumper warranty. They are giving their cars this warranty because Hyundai knows their vehicles are great and can last...
The push button recall was recalled b/c Toyota made it so that you would have to hold the button 3 sec before the car would turn off. They did this so that you would not accidentally kill the engine b/c if you cut off the car while your in motion the brakes will become hard to depress and the ability to steer would become almost impossible. And the shift knob was hard to shift into reverse which would not stop you from putting it into neutral. Which is not a major problem.
I support Toyota ten-fold, but that Hyundai looks damn good.... They are moving up class (with the exception of a few models) So, its somewhat safe to say that this compares to a Lexus, Cadillac, Infiniti, and so forth. It wasn't tooo fair to compare it to the Camry, but its just a step I suppose.
For starters the Camry is slightly behind the Hyundai giving the Hyundai a little more advantage. Also Toyota's are built a lot more solid and a tad heavier then a Hyundai. Toyota do this so their vehicles last a very long time and for the safety of the people inside. Hyundai's are built light, with cheaper parts, thinner panels you name it.. They are throw away cars, after 150,000kms or 75,000miles they start to have issues. Toyota's just keep going and going ....
ive had Hyundai since 2003 and every one has lasted well over 350k miles and still ran like new and had no major issues at all I cant say that about the 3 Toyotas ive owned
+The91489 What kind of Toyota do you own, a Vios or something? AE85s, AE86s, Land Cruiser originals still run like new in many places. Look at Hyundai, outside Korea they get dumped in the streets after a long time. If you want a Korean car, stay in Korea. You can get a old piece of junk running like new there because of the readily-available spare parts there. Otherwise, Toyotas are much better.
Toyota's just keep going and going and going without an issue. I'm 30 and I had my first Toyota when I was 16 (Turbo charged 86' Supra) Man that thing had balls... I'm old now so I have a Camry, beautiful to drive and sturdy.
haters are gonna hate...ALWAYS....true critics learn to see the good and bad...and fanboys are just loyal to their own brands....most haters ARE fanboys...but hyundai fans are respectable at least to other brands
Looks wise - Sonata wins just by little, quality - well Hyundai needs to prove it yet. Toyota has done that already and now days, with this economy, i would choose something that would last and save me money. Bought the Camry at the end of 06, didn't have a problem since. Love it and def recommend
Not saying that Hyundais are unreliable, I own a 2003 Sonata. But when comparing my car to my brother's 2005 Camry, the quality difference between the two cars is noticeable, with the advantage going to the camry. Hyundai/KIA have improved immensely over the years, but I think when it comes to suspensions, engines and transmissions, it will be another 10 years before they will be caught up to Japanese makes.
I have a 2007 Hybrid camry & 2011 sonata , I can definitely say the camry is much better than the newer sonata. It was a big mistake to buy the sonata.
this is my opinion towards toyota and hyundai plz respect it as i will respect yours... i think hyundai is being what toyota used to be back in the day cheap and long lasting.
Yes!! I will never say Toyota is bad car, but it is not the best option anymore, it is overpriced, boring in design and lack of refinement, but they are still good cars, they just need to be sold at the real price for a car like that. I will always buy a Hyundai over Toyota. Hyundai owners, like me, always respect other brands, at the point Hyundai is not the only brand my family buy. We actually buy the "two H's": Hyundai and Honda, because they are the best popular brands, at least for us.
hyundais look stylish exterior wise on purpose, but the question is do they last and the value of the car hold up well? No it does not. They brought in a new designer to up the sales of the hyundais cuz no one would by them cuz it's a hyundai. Now they won alot of ppl over just because of their new styling. Ultimately though, hondas, nissans and toyotas win. Especially toyotas best resale value in it's class.
Just do you know, I know my engines for jets, planes, ships, and cars. Hyundai has been given numerous awards for their engines. Don't believe me? They voted the TAU engine as one of the best engines you can get. Props also goto their Nu, Theta (and other variants), and another one (can't seem to remember the name at the moment). KIA is supposed to be the sportier brother of sister Hyundai, with being a more luxurious counterpart.
The Yugo had the same warranty but nobody says Yugo are reliable.Cheap cars with long warranties appeal to people who want to save money, bc people trying to save money drive their cars for a long time. A 10 year warranty to someone who can afford to buy new cars every 3 years doesnt mean anything. Hyundai's biggest selling point is still its lower purchasing cost compared to japanese cars.My Dad's 92 honda has no warranty left but is still way more reliable than a 92 sonata.
over all the soanta is far more advanced than the current camry, and the sonata offers better design style and also has better interior materials than camry, not like the older sonata models that had some cheaper plastics. hyundai todays is all about design, quality, reliability. and offering the worlds best fuel economy. it shows hyundai really wants to be the best.
i own two hyundais...one being veracruz and mine being the gencoupe..so don't get it twisted....but hyundai actually did recall close to 50,000 new 2011 hyundai Sonatas for a door latch problem...look it up
7.4 million because their make their cars so good everyone know it and buys them and they fixed it before any fires. And they said it could POSSIBLY cause fires and melt wires.
@dannyc9997 Does the Camry have rear seats air vents, does the Camry have a 4-Cylinder engine that gives out 198 horsepowers with 22/35 MPG, Does it have a direct injection engine, Does it have a panoramic sunroof, Does it have a side turning blinkers like the one seen on the sonata in its side mirrors. Does it have 16.4 Cubic feet of trunk space, does it have a DUAL-LEVEL CENTER STORAGE CONSOLE, does it have Bluetooth standard? Yea I don't think so Just a heads up, USA Sonata is made in the USA
Hyundai hired ex BMW Designer Christopher Chapman and Kia hired ex-Audi designer Peter Schreyer. The engines are good, but they have only been designing engines since 1991. I think in 10 more years they may surpass Honda in terms of engines, toyota in terms of transmissions, and VW in suspensions.
@LongLiveToyota I got it from the government car safety website. Only the BMW and the Hyundai Sonata got 5/5 stars for Overall Crash test. The camry had gotten a 3
@Ansett76 Proven by who, I don't even know, my parents decided to buy two huyndais. each cost an average of 10 grand to buy back then, and they spent an additional 20 grand combined on both of them. Compare that to an 02 Echo that I bought about 4 years ago. That thing runs as if I bought it new till this day. The seats are taking quite a beating and are doing as amazing as the new car. I just have to take care of it. I spent a total of 1500 bucks on it, that's just maintenance stuff.
@MrAngryGorilla2000 fyi, toyota has fixed that problem. and its not all toyotas fault that happened, some of it may be there fault, but the government and drivers are also at fault.
Your fleet lasts less than a year, two at most. Reliability isn't determined by the such a short time span for a driver. It is determined by the long term reliability of starting up without issues every morning no matter what temperature, something the Hyndais had real trouble with. I agree with Ansett76, I'm never wasting money on those garbages ever, I learned from my parent's expereince, they also now drive an older Camry.
I dont mean to sound rude but read back my comment slowly. Push start on all vehicle were you pushed it for 1 sec it was on and pushed it for a sec and it was off. Toyota made it so that when you want to turn off the car you would have to HOLD IT DOWN FOR 3 SECONDS then it would cut off. And i have stated the purpose of it in the comment above. I dont know what caused the gas petal to stick but it stuck and that is what i know and thank you for telling me what caused it.
Well, power wise Hyundai maybe good but it has a flimsy and poor hard plastic interior.Camry may not be as powerful, but it provides good comfort with comfortable interior.
toyota should really consider bringing in a sports car.. like they did with the supra.. nobody wants to own a toyota cuz it kinda represents an old peoples car or family car.... but lotta young kids drive honda..
@carlistillu why better ? couze have a 201 hp ?? i dont think so. camry 2.5 not a camry, camry its a 3.5 and 277 hp! fuel economy ? 3.5 camry spends 10-15 liters. its vary small this a very small fuel consumption.
Incorrect. This was occurring in vehicles that had push-button start technology. Something Toyota has used in many vehicles. The shifter became unresponsive, and the push button did not work as well. That's a major problem.
@airknights as I said, I am a Toyota fan, I currently own one and have had them in the past......but the hard reality is no Hyundai in my workplace comes limping home on the back of a tow truck, unfortunately Toyota (re above comment on Corolla's) Holden and Nissan do. They Hyundai Getz which is the competitor to the Echo was a better choice for demanding rental work, we have never had one fail yet. We stopped buying Echo's 5yrs ago....overpriced. Getz is the hardest worked on fleet.
Why did JD Powers recognize and awarded Hyundai/KIA for quality and reliabilty? Whereas Ford did not? O btw, if they are so "unreliable", then why do both Hyundai and KIA offer 10 year warranties? No other company does that. Not even Mercedes Benz. My friend's Sonata has been excellent. No problems other than the scheduled maintenance.
Are you serious? That's not a major problem? Of course it's a major problem when you can't turn off a vehicle. What you're saying, was not the issue. The issue was that the vehicle went to unusual acceleration (Don't blame the car mats. The accelerator is supposed to be very strong, and be able to push back up by itself, and it's a problem that it couldn't simply lift up a very light car pet mat.)
@Motorfordtoyota You also have to look at it this way, cars are nothing like they were 25 years ago, neither is Hyundai. And again, Hyundai treats their customers right.
@DavidEloySaenz I would venture to say the newer Mitsubishi's and maybe some old are drivers cars, same with Nissan. Not all of the cars of course. Of course you forgot Mazda, they strive on being fun to drive cars. Toyota's are appliances. They do what they are supposed to do, they are the safe choice. That's why they sell. That sonata took off so flawless 😍

You have to remember Hyundai was from a country that was still developing. Once it was 2000, things started to become a lot better.
Hyundai and KIAs are best known for the best value for your money.

That's so true
ignore the haters sonata beats the camry altima and fusion at so many levels

I'm planning to buy my first car a 2012 Hyundai sonata. What are the things that are not good about sonata.
@@solomondavid3422 everything lmao. the car itself looks sexy dont get me wrong, but mechanically its trash.
i wonder what does cameraman drive))
Hyundai worked super hard on the sonata and it is a luxury premium car and it is bigger and faster
I wonder how the Video car looks!
really? thank you for this great exploration
i would trade my camry with one, very nice car.
@ruscapitalists
Hyundai Sonata-Ugly baby duckling to a (Beautiful Swan)
Toyota Camry- Just made a good reputation that wont go any further.

Hyundai recall = voluntary
Toyta Recall = concealed and forced
Hyundai haters should learn and accept new changes.
and at the end of the day camry is still #1 selling car in America
By the looks of the new Sonata, Toyota needs to wake the hell up and get on it. I hope the next generartion Camry is off the chain
Nice video.
However, I still using my Hyundai sonata 2000, and I Love it, as it has got a special way of driving, that makes the driver enjoy it. :)

i like the acceleration of new sonata .. good job!

25hp more and direct injection. It's obvious that the Sonata would have the advantage in speed. It has the same hp as many older V6's.

wouldnt mind either...both better than my e class merc
Cameraman never lose 😂 .
@rsalem1993 but the Sonata they used in this video was NOT turbo.
Love the tag where you get it from
Pause at 0:02 and admire the looks of the Sonata.
@LongLiveToyota I got it from the government car safety website.
Only the BMW and the Hyundai Sonata got 5/5 stars for Overall Crash test. The camry had gotten a 3
@Motorfordtoyota Which one has the better warranty? Kthxbia.
wow
my car is amazing ,, I got new Sonata 2011 3 days ago
very nice car
Are it still with u hahaha
Its amazing how much the Toyota and the Hyundai look alike
are you still alive
What was Toyota's and Honda's recall count in the past 3 years again?
Who cares? They are world renowned for reliability. Always will be.

camera-man's car is way faaaaster than both in the video. Pwned.
@baglebox3274 It looks like it's in front because the camera man was on the Sonata's angle
@rsalem1993 this sonata isnt turbo charged the video was done prior to that model comming out
@p154831 lawl hyundai isnt making a v6 for the new sonata. what they did do is make a turbo version idk if its out yet but yea look it up
I don't want either cars anymore, I want the cameraman's car now!
@MrAngryGorilla2000 fyi, toyota has fixed that problem. and its not all toyotas fault that happened, some of it may be there fault, but the government and drivers are also at fault.
I wonder what car is the camera car ..... its fast as hell

@batoymazing not even the v6 accord. the sonata turbo has so much torque

The cameraman car is the best
@biyorkman Hyundai didn't make this video actually. There's many car groups around the world that does this.
@firstmusic00 Wiki can be a very useful reliable reference to sources if you know how to use it.
Sonata 💪💪
Well, power wise Hyundai maybe good but it has a flimsy and poor hard plastic interior.Camry may not be as powerful, but it provides good comfort with comfortable interior.
That sonata was ahead of the line to begin with. do it agaaaaaain
im guessing the camera car is like a v6 genesis coupe or something? lol
i didn't get it....what is the car that shoot this video in this first place?...coz it seeems faster than both the sonata and camry...lol
@KILLER46131 it's a camera motorbike.
@AcceleraTube LoL u r rite sir. cameraman is in an accord!
the sonata sold in the US is not the GDI engine as shown here.
toyota should really consider bringing in a sports car.. like they did with the supra.. nobody wants to own a toyota cuz it kinda represents an old peoples car or family car.... but lotta young kids drive honda..
@dannyc9997 You said that Camry sells more, and I said Toyota is using their reputation to sell cars.
@123abcpa Y did you watch it in the first place?
Hell yeah my car do it all day
Damn what color is the Hyundai?
@xxlap2xx its rare to see ford's out where i am, its all imports or high end luxury
will it blend?
@carlistillu why better ? couze have a 201 hp ?? i dont think so. camry 2.5 not a camry, camry its a 3.5 and 277 hp! fuel economy ? 3.5 camry spends 10-15 liters. its vary small this a very small fuel consumption.

whats the name of the color on the Sonata??
Why did JD Powers recognize and awarded Hyundai/KIA for quality and reliabilty? Whereas Ford did not?

Sonata❤
@badich1 but also sonata uses a 4 cylinder so i guess its fair
the camera mans car mustve been a maxima
Cameraman 🗿
@edjr716 how bout a 368 horse power 361 torque camry se

What was Cameraman driving ?
It is probably the 2.0 tubro sonata vs the v6 camary.
not actually hydundai were very poorly built before but they are built better now and actually last. But you can't get better than a toyota and honda and nissan reliability has gone down but still reliable.
