    Just purchased one this week. Picking it up on Saturday. Installed the Chargepoint which can also charge Tesla's at Level 2. I'm excited. I was driving a Telsa Model S 90D for a while and pure EV isn't meant for our cold weather in Canada. Range anxiety is real for a full day if driving across the GTA. Anyone knows that feeling when you're under 200 km in the winter, the next 100 km drops very fast. Anything under 100 km and you're frantic for a super charger. For the airport people who are plugged in, then can charge everyday remotely or on schedule, cars lose EV power daily especially in the winter. Tesla model S 90d loses 15 to 20 km sitting idle. Only issue with a Tesla is that being plugged in does not charge the 12 V, even if you remotely turn on the Tesla...which I eventually had to replace the battery this year under warranty.

      I’m just so surprised that there aren’t more PHEVs in its class, especially from Toyota.

    Hi Brian, did you driven the car in normal hybrid mode, and/or "Save" mode? If so, what were the MPG?
    when I was in NZ, we rented a 2.4L Outlander, and no matter what/how we drove it, the best we got was 10L/100km. The fuel was about $2(NZD)/litre, it was not fun paying for fuel.

    Apparently the next Gen Outlander PHEV will have between 80 - 100 km of EV range (will qualify for the $5000 rebate). If that version makes it into Canada, I'd be very interested.

    Thanks for this review. Say, did you happen to take it up any mountain passes? I'm a little south of you in Seattle, and this would be my ski car. How tiresome (wind/road/engine noise) do you think it would get to get up a mountain 2-3 times a week? Thanks!

      Unfortunately I can’t comment on that as I did not take it up any mountain passes let alone long hills. The torque would be good though.

    As a generator, if the charge is used up, I can run the engine which charges the battery pack again to make another 100 smoothies? I mean Does the engine charge the battery? How did you get 10 days?

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  5 лет назад

      Yes, as stated, the ICE charges the battery pack. You’d be able to make a lot more than 100 smoothies.

    People need to be aware of the very real battery/BMU issues with this suv. The software will very quickly downgrade your battery capacity. Its commonplace to see a battery capacity at 90% of your initial capacity in less than a year. It's a very real problem, around the world.

      Searched online and could see a few things from a few years ago but no owners talking of anything anymore? seems in line with expectations down to about 80% after 10 years

      15,000 miles/ 1 year later no difference in summer electric range. Still getting 24-25 miles driving it gently.

    too bad it is using 10 years old EV powertrain technology. If it had twice the battery size, 200kW electric motors combined power, and the engine not connected to the wheels but acting just as a generator, then it would be great.
    It has also been reported an issue with the BMU software, that keeps degrading the battery capacity, regardless whether the battery has actually degraded
