I went to a summer camp one year in high school. Somebody had brought their DX7 (we were in dorms, not exactly “camping”!) and had me try it out. I played a couple of Bach pieces and nobody cared. I played Jump and everybody was amazed at my pianistic prowess. 😂 The owner of the synth took me aside, laughing, to observe how one can play something interesting and challenging and nobody cares, but play a party favourite and you’re a hero!
That’s right. People aren’t listening for the same things that you may be listening for. We are all looking for something within the music. I love my DX7 too 😁
Thanks! Van Halen used an Oberheim OBXa-- I am using a plugin by Arturia that emulates the Yamaha CS80. It's part of the Analog Lab suite. I found it to be pretty convincing. Just running it through Pro-Tools and triggering it using a Yamaha CP40.
Heyyy Pierre!! 🎶😀 i just found your channel a few days ago!! Amazing tutorials. I love this song. I have seen the billy Joel tutorials and the Elton John tutorials. They are very precise. One of my favourite favourite keyboard riffs is « dirty laundry « by Don Henley! That would be great to see if possible! Happy Sunday!! Keep them coming!! 👍
Question? Do you live in the Boston area? Your pad looks like what I had when I went to Berklee!!;-) Those old windows, hard wood flooring...and I had a Rhodes as well;-)
Now teach us the solo! ;) (It's not that hard either. Though I think there's still bits of it towards the end that I haven't quite figured out entirely.)
Aw poo, I was hoping you'd do the song with solo....😕 You're very accurate with your tutorials and I was looking forward to your breakdown of this song, not just the intro/verse. 😐 Ah, well... Can't win 'em all.
This video makes it very easy to memorize. It deserves so much more views. Thank you.

The keyboard solo !!! What about the keyboard solo? 😊
Excellent tutorial thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊
This was so perfect to learn from. Breaking down the notes in stages and zooming in made it super easy to learn from. Thank you!
Hey Pierre love the way you make it so easy any chance on doing a tutorial on anything from The Carpenters
Thank you for watching! I love the Carpenters; "Close to You" would be a fun one.
Amazing!!! Wanted to play this for years!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻Glad this was helpful!!
Really cool, waiting for tuto solo !
Excellent! Thank you so much!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You're very welcome!
Can you do a video for Salieri’s welcoming March from Amadeus?
I second this request.
Yes we need this please. I have always wanted to learn this but there is no music for it anywhere.
@@portablearmwrestlingtables1360it is miraculous.
With or without Mozart's improvements?
@@pierrejpiscitelli I can figure out the Mozart improvements by ear. Its all right here in my noodle.
Very easy to understand! Thank you so much from Japan.
great lesson. curious, what voice are you using on your keyboard? Thanks

Try the OB-Xd free standalone synth plugin, there's a patch called Leap which is perfect
Thanks Pierre, so easy when you know how to do it. lol
Take your time and re-watch as many times as you need.. it will eventually become easy 😄
Thanks for the quick tutorial! I am curious what sound patch/name is used that sounds like the original song?
I believe it was an Oberheim OBXa.
Great video, and playing, the middle part is the part that is tricky,(the Chorus? or bridge? challenging.
Man that software of the oberheim Obxa is really good! What software was it exactly?
Love your channel!!
You have to teach us how to play the intro to Van Halen’s “Right Now”!
Oh man I never thought of that! Love it. Will add to my growing list…

Please tell me the piano sound setting you are using when you play songs.
Thanks this riff must be one of the most riveting openings in modern day keyboard music. Imagine Beethoven improvising on it!??;-)

NYC area actually!
@@pierrejpiscitelli Thanks, oh well close;-)
great

Oh and by the way, the low octave Cs aren't hit at exactly the same time, the top one precedes the bottom one by an 8th note before the beat.
Yes! Just trying to simplify things here and there :)
sir "Love walks in"
Billy Joel's "Souvenir'? Thanks for "Moving Out'!!!!
What about the higher part?
