Today's standards couldn't even match up to this drummer. Chops, Dynamics creativity, freedom. Definitely a false statement but your opinion. If you listen more of this guy you would know that most drummers today are influenced by this guy and him being alive would probably still be able to out drum all of them. Great reaction!
Quite honestly I think that younger musicians today are so preoccupied with technical prowess that they kind of forget the meaning of it all. Yeah, there are singers way better than Gillan, guitarists way, way waaaaay better than Blackmore, but what do they produce? Nobody listens to it. It is the rawness and many imperfections that make something live on for decades, because it's real, it's about the message, not some vanity project. Don't wanna be rude to anyone but seeing an entire armada of guitars hanging on the wall behind these two gives me a bad feel.
You are right about Ian Paice, but do not underestimate modern drummers. There are quite a few phenomenally talented drummers out there who are comparable, especially in metal.
Ian Paice’s use of the ride cymbals is exemplary... nobody matches that standard anymore.... you just get average drummers hiding behind massive drum kits
Paice was less interested in showing off than he was in painting beautiful fills that fit perfectly... he really had a great sense for phrasing, which even some of the better drummers don't seem to bother with.
Are you kidding dude ..what drummers of today are you taking about that could destroy Ian paice..you are clueless when it comes to drummers.he is on the same level as Bonham..Ian paice is one of the all time greats.
When it raises for the final screams, both of your reactions were how I react to that part every time. Gives me the shivers every single time. The little falsetto phrase from Gillan before the final screams gets me every time too. Great video.
My all time favorite band... Never will there be another Ian Gillian Vocals Extrordinare Ritchie Blackmore Guitar one of the greatest of all time Jon Lord.. My opinion the greatest organ keyboards of all time R.I.P Roger Glover Bass Ian Paice Drums 4th on my list of all time greatest
This was a great five grand masters musicians combo, playing and battling to each other, to show who is the best on stage. But they were really doing it together, like a friendly battle between them. Ritchie Blackmore on the guitar is a monster, but Jon Lord on the organ is a God, and Roger Glover on bass is superb, but Ian Paice on the drums is the best of the best, and of course Ian Gillan on the vocals is the extreme. So here we have 5 ultra talented artists reunited in one super band, it couldn''t be better, they were incredible, high quality composing, great improvising solos, but they were also playing together, and having a lot of fun. Purple music is unparallel, incomparable, unrepeatable, oustanding, awesome, incredible !!! You only have to enjoy.
It's been a long time since I seen the movie TWISTER , but I remember it as an 8 track tape that he played to get that solo in the movie , maybe I'm wrong ! But ,,, the drummers today couldn't and wouldn't stand a chance against IAN PAICE on the drums , they listened to him to learn how to play !! IAN PAICE was one of the Masters !!! But , I've been a DEEP PURPLE fan for fourty five years , I'd have my older brothers and sisters play DEEP PURPLE back when I was 7 or 8 years old !! I'm glad you checked this out and enjoyed it , the studio version of the solo is different than this , but they both jam !! I didn't know that there was rules in rock n roll !!!! Hey , keep on jammin !!!!
i HEARD THIS SONG WHEN i WAS 10 IN1970 AND I 'VE BEEN A FAN SINCE. Saw MKII 3X'S THEN MKIII 4 X'S and they were always superb live. Even when ELF was opening for them Ritchie put every ounce into it when he knew he was leaving. Until Coverdale and Hughes joined and wanted to take over and start abusing drugs and writing more of a bluesy jazz fusion.
If I remember it correctly the Twister production team cheated slightly since they played the solo from Child in Time but on the TV screen they show a clip of Ritchie Blackmore at the California Jam from 1974. By then Child in Time had been dropped from the set and wouldn't be reinstated until the reunion tour in 1984.
Ian Pace, what a drummer. Might put Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio on the astounding drummer's list as well. Saw Purple live when in 1974, I was 16. One awesomely loud and wild concert.
Jesus Christ, how can you have a wall full of guitars behind you and listen to Child in Time acting like it's the first time you hear it?! I don't understand.
Deep Purple is such a great group, Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord are masters at their craft. If you aren't familiar with the guitarist next group, Rainbow. You should check them out "Stargazer" is a must, but live (Munich 1977 concert) versions of "Mistreated" and "Catch the Rainbow" are fantastic. Both have great guitar solos by Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio is great on the vocals.
Ian Paice is up there with Bonzo and Bill Ward, yes there are some good drummers around (Dave Grohl) but this is where it all started and still not surpassed. PS. their song 'Lazy' from the same show is worth a listen!
This is the kind of music that you not only listen to, but feeeeeeeel.
The drummer Ian Paice had very few equals then and none today . . . Ian set the standard for rock drumming that today's drummers fail to reach.
Chech Gacharic Spin, Hana and Yuri play some complicated riffs. As does Haruna of Lovebites.
Golden Rule my brother. Never ever stop the video during a guitar solo. The music gods are going to put you on a timeout for this LOL

I’m still waiting to hear any of modern drummers make a masterpiece like Burn...
And the guitar player skills too (Ritchie Blackmore).
Even now,no drummer makes Ian Paice look poor. Never.
GIllan in the 70' was one of the best singer in rock history
Ian Paige is one of the best drummers ever...right up there with Bonzo I think, no way are drummers these days better...you're dreaming mate
You are right about Ian Paice, but do not underestimate modern drummers. There are quite a few phenomenally talented drummers out there who are comparable, especially in metal.
@@robertfitterman3777 joey jordison the goat
Kai Hahto, Alex Bent and Tomas Haake are a few modern beasts.

Listen to toad Cream's farewell concert blows them all away Ginger baker
Ian Paice is an all-time great drummer… anybody can play a large kit, but if you can play a small kit properly, then you’re good 👍
When it raises for the final screams, both of your reactions were how I react to that part every time. Gives me the shivers every single time. The little falsetto phrase from Gillan before the final screams gets me every time too. Great video.
Blew my mind....

nobody stops song in middle of fantastic riff
A true masterpiece
Saw Deep Purple twice in the 80s. Loved Deep Purple made in Japan and Burn.
What's good about this 60's/70's rock music is you Reactionists/influencers can't compare them to any other band

In fact, Mark 3 tried to sing Child In Time live and you can find proof on RUclips, but if you have weak nerves, I do not really advise. 😊
It’s Ian fucking Paice, no one is destroying him.
Blackmore in guitar,,, the best

Me too, in America, I got to see them 3 times, mark 2 twice mark 3 once. They were absolutely 💯 the best live band of that error.
Jesus Christ, how can you have a wall full of guitars behind you and listen to Child in Time acting like it's the first time you hear it?! I don't understand.
Those YT subtitles though: "and you've not been hit by flying leg". 😂
Rex Kwon Do.... is that you?
Nobody destroys Ian Paice…Nobody!
Check out
Deep Purple - Demon's Eye (Live in Berlin "Music Today") HD

You can never go wrong with Dio on vocals.
Ritchie changed to a Stratocaster shortly after this recording -
Your Daddy raised u right. Deep Purple were pioneers❤
Nice catch on the Twister scene!
Check out on RUclips Ian Gillian and Ritchie Blackmore's online fights. They despised one another.
Grand Funk "inside looking out" live if you liked this one.
Watch ian paice drum solo in denmark 1972… nobody destroys ian paice!
Ian Paice is up there with Bonzo and Bill Ward, yes there are some good drummers around (Dave Grohl) but this is where it all started and still not surpassed. PS. their song 'Lazy' from the same show is worth a listen!
Bill Ward… never really got the recognition he deserved
Привет чуваку,который наложил русские субтитры на видео,привет от летящей ноги🦵к летящему свинцу,not flying leg,but flying lead...
Ian Gillan still does that, mean putting his finger in hes ear.
He really does. Dont know if there is a worm from the 60-ties ,but still he does.
Saludos desde chile

What is the music in the background.
Funny how you say Page was sloppy but that lead is brilliant. What a clown
If everyone played by the same rules they would all sound the same.
Is it my imagination or does Ian Paice look a LOT like one of the Ramones? Or did he play with them at some point?
Hello from Poland 🤘
Did you say new drummers can destroy Ian Paige? LOL, no one comes even close to him.
LIVE!!!
MORE THAN "Starway to Heaven"!!!...
"jazz-guitar"?
"Ten After Years" at WOODSTOCK!!!
Today’s drumming is nowhere near as good!!
Love it if you guys did Deep Purples Burn with David Coverdale and Glen Hughes on vocals at the California Jam 1974 thanks
No amigo te equivocas con tu opinión sobre Ian Paice. Deberías escuchar The Mule - Made in Japan
You're talking shit about the top 3 rock drummers in the world. Jr's blasphemous
Next iron maiden wasted years
Ian Gillan!!! 💜💜💜💜💜
These two clowns dare to disrespect Ian Paice, what a joke.
