    The “not intended for immediate eye area” thing is not new, it just used to be only on the box and not on the palette itself. They have to write it on pressed glitter for legal reasons because those glitters can hurt your eyes.

    • @candacehallberg
      @candacehallberg 5 лет назад +41

      Yep! Tati talked about that with her palette. You’re just supposed to be very careful because it can be bad if it falls into your eyes.

      Eden Davida Yes! It’s also true with most red or hot pink eyeshadows and pigments. My Huda Beauty palette says some of the red shadows aren’t intended for eye use, yet most people still use them.

      ktmfam so do the metallics but that glitter is small enough to be considered eye safe. Only the pressed glitters are considered not eye safe by the fda. There are also some dyes used which aren’t considered eye safe but that’s a different topic.

    • @hunnibear0102
      @hunnibear0102 4 года назад +1

      @@jenniferford2067 Also its pressed pigments. Jeffree Star said that because they can stain your eyelids and it is just a straight pigment and not mixed into an actual "eyeshadow" it has to be labeled as Not for Use Around Immediate Eye Area.

  • @CelticStar87

    No glitter can be technically/legally marketed as eye safe in the US since it isn’t approved by the FDA. Companies selling products in the US have to have that disclaimer on their packaging. It almost becomes a “use at your own risk”. There may also be an ingredient in the formula that hasn’t been approved by the FDA as eye safe.

  • @em-sk2io
    @em-sk2io 5 лет назад +69

    As far as I’m aware, the “not intended for use in the immediate eye area” has to do with the ingredients in the shade! The FDA hasn’t approved all cosmetics ingredients for eye use, whereas other countries have approved the same ingredients. They’re essentially safe enough to use, but for legality reasons they add a disclaimer so they’re not liable if you develop any adverse reactions ☺️

    • @maliadarcy7691
      @maliadarcy7691 5 лет назад +5

      Sugar, Water, & Sunlight true! If it can stain your eyes, the FDA says it’s a dye and not an eye shadow which is not regulated. But it also has to do with glitter size. If it’s too big to put in your water line safely it says not safe for immediate eye use.

    • @melissamuz

      No in the Colourpop pallettes that are monochromatic have a very chunky glitter in some of them like the purple and orange ones,If you dont use glitter glue,it falls all in your eyes badd,and all over your face,but glitterglue does the trick!I Love Colourpop!

    • @DoesAngelsHaveWings
      @DoesAngelsHaveWings 5 лет назад +1

      No, the ones that are the glitters have that disclaimer cuz it can literally harm your eyes and make you blind. Staining is one think, chunky glitter is another.

      Jasmine Persson I think it’s both! I don’t have the palette she uses in this video, but I have other ColourPop palettes with this warning. The warning on the “A Flutter” palette, for example, applies to both chunky glitter shades and three matte shades!

    The alcohol or similar substance in the brow gel is making the red come out in the UD brow pen. As you said, all the UD brow pens pull quite warm. Something in the brow gel (I suspect alcohol) is reactivating the wetness in the brow pen and pulling out the red. I’ve had this happen with a brow pen that was quite cool/taupe and the brow gel made my brows turn greenish brown.

    Colourpop is making it more clear on the physical palette what shades are "not intended for immediate eye use." Whether it's pigments or glitter particles, it makes sure consumers know to use at their own discretion in regards to ingredient sensitivity or ensuring proper safety precautions when using glitter (it's never been considered "safe").

    I LOVE yearly favorites videos too!! They are my favorites of the year and I always find a few new products that end up being staples in my daily collection! On a side note I am over the whole pressed glitter in palettes. I wish they would sell them separately with disclaimers and leave them out of palettes.

    I was sooo close to buying the JS Conspiracy palette but realised that I was drawn in by the amazing packaging and owning it would just mean having giant pans of colours I would rarely use. Also it's such a giant palette I couldn't just put it in my handbag and take it around like my ABH palettes for example.

    If I'm not mistaken, Urban Decay says to use the brow pencil to fill in the brow first, then go in with the felt tip stain to add in those hair like strokes.

    Lots of Colourpop palettes have the eye safety warnings - it's usually for reddish toned shades because they can cause staining, and for all the glitters. I do agree that it's stupid to put the glitters in eyeshadow palettes if that's not where they're supposed to be used (where else would you put that, though??).

    Love the poreless putty primer in my pore areas then I’ll go in with the elf jelly pop primer everywhere else and the finish of my foundation is FLAWLESS and lasts a super long time. Yesss!!! Matter of fact I need another jelly pop primer😭
    I wanted to buy the Norvina palette (the warmer tone one Vol 2 I think it is, but it’s to expensive for my pockets. But the one palette I love and highly recommend is the ABH x Jackie A. Palette AMAZING!!

    I agree w/your concerns regarding eye safety w/the eyeshadow palette glitters....Tati's palette is the same way but I don't really recall anyone mentioning it or calling attention to it. I've always enjoyed her and her content but I ordered the palette and only realized this after the fact. It burns my eyes every time I wear it:/

    🦋 Anti Hauls for sure and what you spent your money on would be great .
    I agree every time you blink there is a new launch and I am guilty of over spending because of these which is the whole name o& the game get people to buy buy buy. I follow 2 FB beauty pages and the big thing is NoBuy for 2020 which I feel will be the trend this year . I have enough to last me years I am sure -especially eye palettes ha ha I could pass them on to the next few generations.

    🦋 I was initially interested in some of the ABH palettes this year (I don’t have any that launched after Sultry) but I was super turned off by how frequently they started popping them out. I didn’t have time to get excited and decide to purchase before a new one came out. Annoying.

    The Smashbox foundation is one I really like. I have shade 1.1 as well :) - the only one that works for me in their shade range. I find it looks pretty dry though initially but as the day goes on it looks better. (What's up with that?) But it does feel like nothing on, which I love. (The golds in that CP palette look really pretty and the brown and black also like great shades, but I don't have the palette since I know I wouldn't reach for it often enough (and no mirror).) Yes, to an anti-haul, please!!
    I really like all of the above youtubers. I pretty much always trust in / go with Tati's recommendations and since you didn't include her here I'm guessing that's why - new video soon with Tati!?

    I’ve heard other RUclipsrs mention ColourPop’s shadows that aren’t supposed to be used near the eyes in different palettes. So, you have to watch for that. Also, have you watched LeighAnnSays? She has a brow product she recommends and she has similar coloring to you. Great video!

    All glitter eyeshadows like that from pretty much every brand put that about the glitters. Pretty sure it's mainly for their protection and makes them not liable if you get glitter stuck in your eye and scratch it or something.. I've never cared and load my eyes with glitter (cosmetic grade of course). Lol
