Can you get kicked out of Navy HPSP for graduating late/not meeting clinic requirements on time?

Is there a minimum GPA and/or DAT score?
Is it your choice where you go to dental school?
What was the interview/application process like? What difficulties, if any, did you face and how did you overcome them?

Is HPSP realistic for those who want to open their own office? Does it make the process more difficult? Does being in the army limit your connections?
Is it worth it just to get out of debt? How does it work?

Are you required to go wherever they assign you ? Do they ever assign dentists overseas in a dangerous country?

    1) what will the timeline look like until I can become a civilian dentist, considering I get into dental school and the hpsp program right after college.
    2) if I want to specialize (hopefully right after dental school), how will that affect the timeline?
    3) (kind of a random question) my best friend ironically enough is also on track to apply to dental school with me and also wants to do the hpsp program, any chance we could serve together or would we be split up?
    4) If I were to not make the hpsp program, would I still be able to get dental school loans despite not having anyone in my family with a credit score good enough to co-sign my loans?

Is it actually worth it, if my debt will be around 200k? I’m thinking 2 years living on like 30k (rent an apartment) and paying the rest off would be the best option right?

Would you please go into detail about the 20k sign on bonus and 2k monthly stipend? i.e. when should we expect those payments, are they taxed, is it enough to live off of throughout dental school
    Thanks!

hey I am currently in the air force rotc (AS200) and I have always wanted to become a dentist in the air force, but also an officer as well. So when I graduate from rotc I have to serve active for 6 years I believe, within this time period do I also go to dental school and is HSPS for this one? I also was curious if just regular undergraduate gets into the dental school, applies for HSPS, and when they serve, do they become officers too? Thank you

How early can you begin applying to the HPSP program?
What kind of DAT scores are required to be competitive for this program?
How can you make yourself a competitive applicant for the scholarship?

I got a different question, can you please tell me about the interview, and how was everything going in it, when was it, and how long did you wait for the acceptance letter?
    Thank you
    (Sorry, that’s too many questions😐)

My question is is there is any age limit for applying for those scholarships or not. Thanks a bunch.

Thoughts on HPSP vs HSCP for dental school applicants with prior military service and Post 9/11 GI Bill Access?

Thanks for taking the time to do this!!
    1) I'm applying this cycle and haven't made a final decision on if HPSP is right for me yet. When's the latest I can begin the process and still be eligible?
    2) How competitive is HPSP? Is acceptance based more on stats or interviews/experiences? (I guess the question is, what makes the ideal candidate for HPSP)
    3) How physically fit do you have to be before applying (or is that not considered)?
    Thanks!

I'm curious about HPSP before I finish my BS.
Please on the next video put a link to that scholarship.
    Thank you!

If i study Dental Hygiene as my major before dental school, i will be prepared to do well the DAT ?? Can i do it?

    • @DentalPro2021
      @DentalPro2021  6 лет назад

You can absolutely do well on the DAT if you dedicate yourself to the material. However, I don’t think that studying dental hygiene will give you any advantage on the DAT, since the material on the DAT is actually not that dentistry oriented.

I’m currently active duty, would it be more beneficial for me to leave the military completely while using GI Bill to pay for undergrad, then apply for HPSP. Or should I transition right into the reserves and apply to HPSP while in the reserves?

This question may not relate to HPSP, So I’m going to college next year and I know how expensive dental school, can get into dental school even if I can’t afford it or like what other ways that can help me pay for the tuitions.
