This video was really helpful. I just want to be able to make SVGs to cut out furniture and other stuff for my dollhouse. Can you help me how to make smooth curved for curvy furniture lines and also to make sure halves are perfectly symmetrical? Like on an elaborate headboard of a bed?
Thank you for making this video. In regards to cutting. Do you think this process will also work on very intricate designs. For example, the skeleton of a leaf? 🍃
Sure especially if your objective is to print rather than cutting on a vinyl machine. Two different animals. I’ve over time working with raster images into clean victors is there always will involve some time to clean the image. This is where experience in drawing tools inside Illy and discerning what shapes to keep or discard towards preserving the image to retain its identity as the original to being recognized now into a cleaned victor. I’ve some of these images from small to extremely large billboard images all in vector using Illustrator. Hope this helps
Thanks for the subscribe! And yes 😂. We moved in a little over a year ago. The house is great but it was about 9 months after the projected move in date 😒
@@DannyyBravo ugh I’m sorry, I feel ya! I hear you can’t even complain now or they will void your contract! You’re in the final stretch, so close. It will feel so nice when you finally get there!
You took a black and white photo with perfectly straight lettering and image traced it. I was hoping for a more in depth tutorial. Oh well, baptism by fire, it is.
@@lizjoe21750 true… personally I always starts with an image trace and then tweak the anchor points and lines from there. You can watch a pen tool tutorial if you want to trace the whole thing but that will take much longer.
Thats fairly true, I took the photo with the intention of making this video. However, I always start with the image trace option and then tweak the anchor points and line from there. You can use the pen tool and trace the whole thing if you want to, but I’m not sure your results will be that different and it will take 10x longer.
@brittanyrutherforddesigns I typically use Image Trace but no matter how tedious I am with the original photo, the computer sends to find every last strange and convoluted path it can find. I spend hours undoing what Ai does. You know how long it takes to trace by hand but in my experience, it would still with faster than fixing the strange and unusual paths Ai gives me. If you have a video explaining how to do things like mirror paths; how Ai reads a color image (so I avoid aforementioned mistakes in the future); and/or how to be sure the final image traced path is weedable, I'd appreciate it. Perhaps your video was meant for someone who's never used Image Trace. I guess I just need more in-depth info.
@@lizjoe21750I got a new job and haven’t really had time to make new videos lately. I have run into the same problem and truthfully don’t have a great solution. Pen tool provides more precision but personally I prefer image trace, expand and using shape builder, anchor point delete/add and line tools to fix the Ai than I do building from scratch. If you find a better solution, please share 🙂
Had to rewatch my video to understand. Yes, pathfinder is certainly quicker than shape-builder. I personally like shape builder because it gives you more control. Now Malinkina’s wedding… don’t understand that part. I’m going to need some help with that! Wish you the best, always looking to grow. 🤗

That was one of the better tutorials vectorizing rastor images and better yet inside Illustrator. Thank you
Thank you for watching, I appreciate the feedback!
Just came across your vid. And thanks for your content. It's very easy to understand
Thank you for your kind feedback!
Best tutorial for exactly what i needed to do. Thanks!
So glad it was helpful!
That was awesome, very helpful video.

Please make more videos about vinyl cutter designs
I will add that to my list!

Absolutely! That may actually be easier! Depending on the design you could also try tracing with the pen tool but that would take much longer.

How can I print it on my vinyl cutter
Hi! What vinyl cutter is best with Adobe & Mac? Thanks
