Please PopDJdysh reupload the whole full version of this megamix, im sure youtube became more ease on copyrights since then, I think this is the best megamix of the whole SAW/PWL out there.
The mix from Bananarama into Sinitta is particularly inspired. Long enough to enjoy the nuance and listen out for the separate fades and inserts. Brilliant.
4:13 - 5:05 is the best transition in the whole megamix and, no joke dj dysh, one of the best transition in any megamix anywhere. ever. Masterful work. Well done.
I've heard 'Love in the first Degree' mixed into the remix of 'Like a Virgin', one of the best mixes ever, but that was done on a national radio mix show by professionals. This is an awesome mix for someone messing around on RUclips. Thank you.
This music was just as manufactured and formulaic as the music is today...It's just that the formulas in the 80s were still GREAT!! There was still an element of soul, sophisticated rhythm, and ACTUAL CHORDS! That's the difference.
mootbooxle SAW took their time with their songs they would spend a week on a days even weeks on a single section. There is a RUclips video on SAW called “the hit factory” I highly recommend watching it.
+hgon14-I have to respectfully disagree on SAW's quality. I feel there was a good reason why Stock-Aitken-Waterman didn't survive very long past the 80s-they just didn't have anywhere to adapt from. All their songs sound almost exactly the same, especially if you put them all together in one "album" (or a playlist like this ;)), it's just a blur of the same noise over and over again and that sound gets real old, real fast. It's a big case for Venus by Banarama, which is considered to me at nicest, a really good remix, instrumentally anyway, but the actual song itself is just plain wretched. These girls simply can't sing, they can't even hit a note, and pretty much the sparkly glitter from Stock-Aitken-Waterman is the only thing sustaining this song at all. And it's a common occurrence in a SAW song to have talentless singers who can't even hit basic notes, the only difference in SAW's case is that autotune wasn't around at the time, and they didn't have it to cover the blemishes. The only songs I'd really argue that survived real well out of the Stock-Aitken-Waterman era was Dead or Alive's You Spin Me Round and Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up (I'm serious on the last part.) Pete Burns had the power vocals and commanding presence to where the song is both sensual and sexual, sexy but sleazy, and it works. And while Never Gonna Give You Up is a bit corny, Rick Astley actually has the power vocals on par with a diva to back him up. The one thing I will agree on and concede with SAW as opposed to the Cheiron goons that have corrupted and disintegrated standards for good music (you'll have to look up all of them but just think Max Martin, Benny Blanco, Dr. Luke, etc. . .those tools. . .) is that they did have a certain craftsmanship to their songs. They took their time and a lot of effort with crafting songs, at least as far as You Spin Me Round and Never Gonna Give You Up are concerned, they actually consulted the artists on what kind of music the artists wanted to do. That's not something that happens now.
Exactly!! Even formulaic 'crap' music back then was bloody good, and akin to something by Bach in comparison to what is even called serious music today. It all comes down to the extensive use of melody and timbre between the late 50s & mid 90s. People yet don't quite realize there was an explosion of creativity spanning all genres between these decades as artists and producers actually had FUN discovering new sonic horizons due to the electrification and commodification of music disseminated to the masses. There is Beautiful spirit in most S. A. W and sheer joy, and very little cynicism.
Or maybe a better way of putting it would be a marked unpretentiousness. Some of S. A. W tracks a highly sonically inventive to a degree which transcends the medium of disposable popular tunes. (I am not qualified to remark on the lyrics) but as a musicologist, I assert that you find increasingly fewer examples of this in the most mass marketed music of the last couple of decades.
Im 22 and I so love the 80's wish I was born alot more sooner so I can enjoy this as much as you lot did. Waterman was brilliant with steps! I am a DJ and you will find most late teens love the 80's!
20 years ago "I should be so lucky" was a five-weeks-number 1 - and the beginning of the career of Kylie - and 20 years she´s still here - having hits - AMAZING !!!
Today's music might have more depth, better lyrics, technologically more advance in sound production but what they can't do is make us feel happier then listening to our good old fav 80s retro. All troubles seem to be immediately stripped off when I listen to them.
It's amazing to think this song only needs a synth lead, synth bass and drums to sound great. Simplicity was key for SAW and that's why their songs were so great.
A medley with Kylie Minogue / Rick Astley / Bananarama / Sinitta / Sonia. I was listening to all this artists during the 80´s and purchased some oft their records in vinyl. Don´t forget Jason Donovan and Donna Summer (not included here). Really good disco from UK and Stock/Aitken/Waterman. From West Germany there were artists such as Modern Talking, Bad Boys Blue and Fancy. What a disco era the 80´s was. Can not be compared to music of today!
For about a minute or so from 4:22 I actually forget to breath, the transition from Banarama to Sinitta is breathTAKING ... Awesome creativity here, and thank you Popdjsysh 😃
coming from someone who was a teen starting in 2000, l keep wishing I was a teenager in the 80s or 90s for that matter. Im just happy I even remember the early 90s and growing up with this music as a kid. Good times.
This is great. I can remember back in 1986/1987 when it seems like SAW were producing one great hit after another and were all over the radio. This was truly back when life was simpler and music was better. Thanks for sharing the memories.
Popdjdysh your saw compilations are beyond amazing. When i have friends up on a Saturday they get lost in your feel good mixes-even the music snobs ha,ha!!
good mixes and great dj sounds very very very good to me and the music is the best for the 80s the best moment in the earth saludos desde tijuana mexico say hello brother keep mixing
Thank you for putting all of these Megamix's together. What WONDERFUL memories. I found all 10+ and this music is playing in the background when my clients workout. GREAT beat...to work out to. THANKS AGAIN!
Stock Aitken Waterman foi sem dúvidas nenhuma um dos ícones na produção de dance music no final dos anos 80! há muito tempo não se ver um produtor com essa bagagem!
Hi, thanks, was trying to feature as many SAW/PWL related artists/songs as possible without repetition. There were many of them back in the 80s, and some were almost forgotten already...do look out for a 'Phil Harding' mixes related one eventually ...
you took the words right out of my mouth, eventvisionsinc! This megamix is a striking reminder of how great the music of the 80's was compared to the (mostly) crap that's played on the radio these days. I too, am very happy I grew up during the 80's.

Have seen this so many times but never seen this in details. You're right.
I played the transition again...
For a moment there, i thought it was gonna segue into Americanos by Holly Johnson!
I've heard 'Love in the first Degree' mixed into the remix of 'Like a Virgin', one of the best mixes ever, but that was done on a national radio mix show by professionals. This is an awesome mix for someone messing around on RUclips. Thank you.
Truth.
This is in such a high League of Ben Liebrand or DJ Deep (Deep Records) ! Masterpiece, PopDJDysh 👏👏👏!!!

@@Harriet-Jesamine Whereas the '90s and even the '00s still had soul. Then in the '10s less consistent. '20's few have soul.
How I missed that time ❤!
❤

SAW were the high grandmasters of chord progressions! Haha
But seriously, I couldn't think of catchier progressions if my life depended on it.
They're active now! Regrouping from 2005- present. The first burst 1984- 1994.
It'd take a ton of talent, and learning.
excellent!!!!!!
She is very talented. I have ordered her C.D.
Thanks
Tim
i cant watch all this but i bet the changes from one song to another are seamless
let's us remember the 80' and enjoy the great music...
