What upgrades could Caterpillar possibly put on/add to the O&K???
They purchased BE and kept manufacturing O&K because their own excavators were just NOT up to scratch.
I drive the trucks that get loaded by a Liebherr 9800 its the coolest thing to see in person
I highly doubt the Caterpillar excavator has a Cummins engine in it.

I believe that model is not a Lego creation, but a 1/50 scale diecast model made by Conrad models, & with much higher detail than a Lego model. But from the distance the model is shown in the video, it's hard to know for sure.

Y Does the 6090 FS run Cummins engines and Not CAT🤔
Was on the team that transitioned the build from Dortmund to the US. The equivalent output CAT engine was 18" too long. The entire back end would have needed to be redesigned. Too many engineering hours and dollars for a small payback based on the number of units sold.

Maybe the 6120 was only invented coz cat doesnt like the history of the rh400, there is probably no market for such a monster, from the rh400 only 7 units were sold in 20 years.
The 6120 was actually designed and built by Bucyrus, after their takeover of Terex Mining. If you count the Cat 6090, which is just a renamed RH400, there were more than 7 built.
@@alco4248 Ah, Thankyou. Off course do i count the 6090 as 400, but its hard to get those numbers. Do you know how many it are all in all?
Actually, the 6120 was built before Bucyrus took over Terex. Once that acquisition was complete there was no need for Bucyrus to continue the project as they had a full line of hydraulic excavators.
@@Mr.Robusto Funny how they incorporated several O&K/Terex design features into a machine that you claim they built before they bought Terex Mining.
@@alco4248 That is correct, because they hired a bunch of engineers that were ex Terex employees to help design the machine. Bucyrus purchased Terex in February of 2010. The 6120 project was intitially started in late 2006 or early 2007. The machine was already built and assembled prior to the Terex purchase. Kind of have a decent knowledge of this as i purchased a majority of the steel components on the 6120 machine when i worked there and was on the project team.

They don't use batteries. They are powered by a very large cable directly. In one section of the video you can see the power cable.
