I don’t think this can apply to everyone. Everyone has different circumstances. You have to adjust so it’s differently accordingly. Some don’t have a steady paycheck or even a place to live. Or kids that need fed with no income. Until you have consistent income and some stability this concept can be applied.

I am on baby step 2. And trying to decide on tithing. If we take 10% out at the beginning, we would be negative at the end of the month. There are a few small items we could cut out but the majority are our 4 walls, and debts that must be paid. Yes I realize some of our past debts are “wants” but I can’t change that now. I can only change going forward.
I work for a Christian preschool and make very little money. I work a lot extra that I am not paid for. My husband also helps and works at our church each week. I help with I can with any of the events the church has.
What is an acceptable amount to tithe if we can’t afford 10%? Or does that not matter? Our most recent sermon suggests a 90 challenge or just doing it and trusting that God will provide. It’s not that I don’t trust God but I need to be able to pay the bills.

In 2 Corinthians 8:11-13, it states to give what you have and not what you don't have. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, it states “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver”. The keyword is "compulsion". God does not curse people and loves the non-giver just as much as he loves the giver. IMO, you should give what you can afford that way you don't feel compelled to give. Giving to the church is not the only way to give to God. Your time is money.

    • @cgcloud9130
      @cgcloud9130 2 года назад +3

@@GUYIN89011 definitely don’t “give” grudgingly or under compulsion, it’s the heart posture that God sees. But tithing is not the same as “giving” if that makes sense. The Tithe is what already belongs to God, we can’t “give” Him what already is His. The “giving” that the church in Corinth prepared was not Lords Tithe but a gift to the ministry fund and those that were being helped. Anything above the 10% is overflow aka giving because 90% is what you you own and therefore can give from the 90%
“Give to Caesar what is Caesars and give to God what is Gods” The Tithe is the Lords
It’s a trust issue with most Christians that are bothered by the Tithe. They spend more on groceries and entertainment than the Tithe and tip their servers more and don’t bat an eye.
Once Holy Spirit brings you to the revelation of the 90% and the 10% you realize you will have 110% in your account and don’t know where it came from. 💯

No. You are misinformed on what tithing is depending on your income/wealth.
In OT for example if you had to tithe on your animals you gave 1 out of 10 goats. But what if you had less than 10 new goats in the season, such as 8? You don't give 0.8 goats. You arent required to tithe.
I suggest listening to a 2 part podcast on Restitutio website/channel that was recently posted on tithing by a guy who was deep into a church that required tithing. He explains it really well.

If someone told you to stop paying your taxes and filing your tax return till you paid off your debt would you do it? Is that legal in the natural? Give to Cesar what is Cesar’s and give to God what is Gods.
Giving is not Tithing and Tithing is not the same as giving. For a long time I did not understand this and the Church often is afraid to teach on the Tithe till it was explained like this “ I borrowed your car and I don’t return it. And on your birthday I ‘give’ it to you as a gift-it’s not a gift because it already belongs you so no kudos for me.
That is the tithe-God blessed you with health and a working mind and job to be able to earn income ➡️10¢ of every $1 belongs to Him and anything above that is actually giving because the 90 is yours 😇

Tithing is under the old covenant. You can tithe if you want but it’s not required. Jesus fulfilled the law.

Some day, most likely a youtuber will answer the question of gross, or net.

    • @peterc504

I've heard it has to be gross. Bc you have to give your first. If you give net then you've not given your first to God but to your bills government or wherever.. I've heard it's a test of faith bc you gave your first now you need to rely on God to provide enough with what you have left

    10% (Net not Gross I hope) 😳 eek 😬
Think who are you giving it to?? What are they doing with that money? Could you have done something better with it to help people somehow?

Giving away 10 percent of your income is among the most stupidest things in the world a person can do. That is money you're never going to see again. Bad advice.

Don't ever tithe. Waste of money lining a pastor's pockets tax free. At least don't do it if your pastor is living more richly than you. God isn't a slot machine. And you aren't your pastor's sugar daddy.

If you think your pastor is squandering your tithed money - you need to find a different church. Find one where your money is being used for good and a pastor who is striving to live in a manner that you can support.

If the pastor squanders your tithe it shouldn't prevent God blessing.. You did your part by tithing so if God doesn't bless you then his word is a lie
