Love Mountain View! We were roaming around the square one night after 10 going back to the hotel when we stumbled across a group playing in a parking lot by the public restrooms. They were the best and played for us (and a few others) until close to 1am. Best night ever! The Rainbow Cafe has really good food all the time and Anglers is great out on the river. The wing shack (don't know its real name) by the Walmart has the hottest wings on earth. My husband choked down about three of them before admitting defeat. And the ice cream at that little shack by the music store is a must have on every visit.

Over 50 years ago, I was a young teenager who was coaxed to perform on the courthouse stage in Mountain View. I was a yodeler. Being from near Hickory Ridge, Ar, they nicknamed me "the yodeling ridgerunner." I surprised some of the older gentlemen (some were in their 80's and 90's) knowing a lot of OLD songs. Mr. Jimmy Driftwood and his wife were very nice to me. It has been years since I was able to go back there, but I still have a lot of fond memories.
The Ozark Folk Center is in Mountain View, Arkansas, Blanchard Springs Caverns is only about 15 miles away. Fishing in the White River, Mirror Lake and various creeks , bird watching, walking and hiking trails,hunting, a drive in theater, a history museum, disc golf, regular golf, genalogical research centers, art, craft, cooking/canning , many homecooking style restaurants and also fast food joints and music classes are a few of the other things available in Stone County.
We went (again) to Mt. View recently... LOVED the fireworks at Jack's Resort on the White River and the music, arts/crafts around the square and public downtown park. We shopped in one of 3 boutiques owned by a very welcoming lady named Marty.... the instrument shop sells new, used, and is a great repair shop for especially stringed instruments. There is a "flavor" in the air at Mt. View... just relax... and bring cash (not a credit card, except at the resorts)

Nice overview of one of my favorite towns--because of the music mostly, but also some great people there. I try to go there several times a year. I'm surprised that you didn't have a segement on the Ozark Folk Center. The outtakes imply that you ware notified that you missed it--or maybe Sylamore Caves?
@@MKandTJ I did appreciate your coverage of the informal music jam scene. That's a major reason for my visits there. Some retired people take RVs there and stay all summer, and hit the picking park frequently. I just pick a weekend when there is a band or musician at the park that I might like, and catch that plus jam with people the rest of the time. It's easy to find groups playing old jazz standards, gospel, old country, even older country, bluegrass, and old time dance music.
Drove Arkansas to Kansas to CALIFORNIA...... I met a great guy from Arkansas in Kansas...he's so kind with a great personality.... i met him during breakfast in the hotel cafeteria... we both stayed in the same hotel in Kansas... he was in Kansas for a baseball game...i was must passing by Kansas to CALIFORNIA.... it was a great chat with him....
Maumelle Park? Were you trying to catch West Nile? Last time I went camping there I had to abandoned camp because of the mosquitoes...lol. What do you expect from a state where a Mosquito is consider a bird...LOL. Awesome video
