this was home for years and though I was just a transplant, my son was born there and it will always be home to us in our hearts! I learned so much about being a better kind of person while living there!
My mother was born at Mountain View, but I have never been there. I really enjoyed this video. Love the music. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you.
What a great video of Mountain View. It sure captures the feel of the pickin park at night. I love taking my guitar, meeting new people and making music at Mountain View. I feel blessed to live so close. If you have not been, put it on your bucket list!
Loved Mountain View my Uncle Tom Aunt Merle and cousin Buddy lived there. Uncle Tom had an old gas station and he was the coolest ever fun and a prankster. There was an old coke machine right inside and occasionally he would hide inside hold onto it and give us a shock from it when we ran in looking for him 😂Also on occasion he might have had a little to drink and could be found at closing time by the gas pumps dancing a jig and singing going up cripple creek . We caught crawdads all summer and the water was the best babysitter ever. Friday nights at the square for music and dancing .Best people on earth .I had a great friend in Jr. High Sunny Hassler alwayscwonder how her and my cousin Buddy fared in life ❤Man I loved it there .
I wish I was there in person for this is one thing I like to visit. I just wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. My mom is from New Nata Arkansas and she is a Trammell and Allison by marriage and I'm also kin to Huey Gilbert who is known by red I pray that God will bless me one more time to visit Mt View to enjoy my family and friends and music God bless each and everyone
Reminds me of being a kid. My Mother, Father, and I would spend weekends here in the summers. Cache's White River hoedown and court square with some ice cream from Aunt Minnies
I have been there 3 times. It is not an annual event,It is an every weekend event through the warm summer months. Years ago I even heard they had put up building for when it got cooler. If you like bluegrass and folk music you will always want to go back. SO DO!!!!! Just good wholesome family fun. The kind you never have to worry about taking your kids to and is very hard to find these days. God Bless Mountain View!!!!!! ( By the way,you will see no BOOZE but lots of ice cream!!!!)
We have family in Egypt, AR and they've been trying to get us to move to AR for 2 years. Just heard about Mountain View a few hours ago and have been to well over 50 websites and real estate sites in the past few hours and AM IN LOVE WITH MOUNTAIN VIEW!!! Can anyone who lives there or nearby give me the inside scoop? We're coming up in the spring of '15 and we're coming to seriously consider making a move from Houston, TX to Mountain View. I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home anywhere in the world, so not worried about the job situation.
My family is from there forever..I lived there briefly in the 1990's, had to move because there is no way to make a living. We moved away got on with life then went back for a visit and fell in love all over again. It took us about 6 months, but we found exactly what we were looking for. took subscription to newspaper on line and a few realtors knew what we were looking for. We found it in the newspaper, we don't live there yet but are there a few days each month. So many people go there and fall in love with it, then move there and want the things they moved away from, which would take away the the charm they fell in love with. Lots of people and festivals except for the winter, then things slow down. It is a beautiful place, so peaceful, like stepping back in time. People are friendly and helpful. Can't wait till we can be there full time...Good Luck
Thank you so much for your kind response and it does our hearts immeasurable good to see the positive ways in which this video has touched and moved you. Filming this video was one of our most enjoyable projects to date, producing it was a lot of fun, and it has since risen up to become by far and away our most successful video. Mountain View is indeed a VERY special place with a highly contagious charm all its own. I hope that you're able to enjoy more of our videos and best of wishes as you continue forward with your plans to move back there :-)
Very cool video enjoyed the music nice to see folks enjoying themselves. I hope this is an annual event seems like a lot of young talent learning their instruments.
My wife and I have been wanting to go to Mountain View Arkansas for the past three years, She has been stricken with Alzheimer's Dementia and loves the old Folk Music. Her mother's family were all from Germany and her Grandfather had both a Band as well as an Orchestra. She was a Chellos player. I was a Entertainer back in the 60's and 70's and was a stand in for several in Lee maces show as well as the old Ozark Mountain Stage shows shows in Harrison as well as was on stage a few times when Branson was first starting in the 50's and 60's while stationed at Fort Leonard wood. We were ready to move a year ago October 10, 2021 and the contractor stole my 97 Dodge and Fifth wheel R. V. and then a person I fired stole my 1950 Studebaker and the California Laws protected the thieves. We don't want to live is assisted living. Is there any nice bungalows for sale close to the Hospitals and stores and would we as strangers be welcomed? we are not welfare people. We own our California home and want out and back with real people. I was a Dance Caller out of Westfork , Arkansas and lived up at Devils Den Park area.
Love the video, great job! I've visited several times and love the atmosphere and tranquility. I have family that play and live there, so, it's a favorite with me.
This was a very nice video. Just wish you could have gotten some of the good bluegrass bands that play there a lot. I know it is folk music capitol but bluegrass is very present there.
This is great! Have to come down and visit sometime. Just moved to southeast Missouri. ONE THING, please tune up that bass a good 1/2 step flat in all the songs.
Through the past 40 years, I do not know how many times we have been to Mountain View, Arkansas. There are so many local musicians that inhabit Stone County and the Ozarks that play in the town square. Some ply their talents at Jimmy Driftwood ' s Barn, or the White River Hoedown, and the Ozark Mountain Folk Center. This town and area is a treasure in which has not been commercialized like so many. Bluegrass, folk, real gospel, country, Scots - Irish, applachian...it has all been played here. And you will find, that some will be playing in the downtown area, courthouse, at any night of the week, not just Friday. There are numerous places to eat and stay the night, local Bed & breakfasts, cabins, motels, and cottage rentals. Local businesses, iron works, craft stores, antique shops, music stores, local fishing for trout, bass, on the White River, hiking, cave at Blanchard Springs. The people make it great. One of my favorite places on God's green earth.
These small towns...where a person can actually measure their lives.....large cities your life just flashes right before your eyes.
welcome to mountain view we got the good country music
Spent our 50th Anniversary in Mountian View. Stayed at the Wildflower Bed abd Breakfast. I'd go back today..❤
