Between this and the Anbernic clamshell, nostalgia handhelds are going hard. Vita is one of my favorite handhelds ever, here's hoping they can get the power/price ratio right here.
Thats a pretty sick looking device, admittedly I love my Vita even though the screen is a tad small and I have to wear reading glasses to play it but having a modern android device in that form factor is a brilliant move from AYN. I'd probably get one if the price is reasonable.
I’m loving the competition between these companies. Can’t get too comfortable in this market. I wanted to upgrade from my Retroid pocket 2s for ps2 and GameCube games and originally planned on getting the Retroid pocket 4 pro, but now idk.
Rp4 is a good choice tho for PS2, wii and GameCube, only downsides are there's a small chance your screen will be a little ghosty if you get an older unit, and driver incompatibility for things like winlator and switch games, but if your just looking for 2s on steroids, it's waaaay stronger in terms of power and well worth the ~230-ish that it costs after shipping.
@@SanctumAnimaChristiwhy do you say that? I haven’t had any issues with my 2s yet. I think I put more hours into that than I do with my switch nowadays. I just ordered the Retroid pocket 4 pro
@@jalene150 I bought the rp3+ directly from retroid, took forever to arrive even with the best shipping option- within a month of ownership (alongside my steam deck which I use 95% more and hasn't had any issues even in 25x the duration I'll add) the right bumper broke. I contacted them about it, they said "we will send you a right b a x y board to replace." I said in advanced knowing how long shipping is "will it help at all / even affect the right bumper?" I humoured them and correctly installed / replaced the right b a x y board (had to buy a special screwdriver kit to tear into the retroid) no issues, it installed everything works just the same as it should - except the right bumper -_- still broken so I contacted them again, they said the matter was now "Closed" and I should consider buying the new rp4 or pro if my issues persist. Never again. The poor shipping times for both the device and then the replacement part and screwdriver set I had to order, the language barrier and bad English translation, the lack of care the cheap parts and taking my business for granted.... I do hope they make good workarounds to the heating issues, even with a active cooling games on 3x in Nether makes the Odin 2 hot sometimes(ex.:Need for Speed Underground 2, Dirge of Cerberus, Shadow of the Colossus, etc. )
I think it looks awesome. I don't think I'll get one as I'm still loving my Odin 2. The form factor of this new one looks like it might be less comfortable than the Odin 2 which is already a joy to hold.
the 1100 nits of brightness is the big selling point, it's as bright as a new macbook pro screen, which means...awesme visibility outside, or in bright environments. I just hop it has nice battery life and a decent price.
For me it's the price. We'll see. I would love to have Odin 2 pro, but its full salary in my country, so im better off saving money for steamdeck then. I just need smth to play up to PS2, and RP4 pro does the job while being 200$.
I'll just say, not all ps2 games will run great on rp4. You don't need the pro version, the regular odin 2 will run everything just as well unless you want switch games. Extra ram won't change how fast a game can run. steamdeck doesn't play ps2 better than the odin 2 and it is huge.
Looks great, but not a fan of how those ABXY buttons are really off to the edge, it probably feels great, it just looks odd. Real bummer about the lack of M1 and M2 buttons, I use mine ALL the time on the Odin 1. Now I just wonder what the processor is and the price. Hoping it would be $200-250. If it can do 1080p with PS2 and Wii, then it'll be great! I'm glad I waited, the Odin 1 serves me quite well for what I play, got an RP3+ but really missing a back button on that. We'll see soon enough! Thanks for the vid.
Great Video thank You Roe. I am not a fan of Sony or Nintendo or Xbox. I am a SEGA fan. So, for me any hardware that matches that is good for me. So long as it's sleek and stylish and powerful and great battery life. That's all I want, well and to catch up on the amount of those kinds of handhelds. I'd Really like to have several styles to choose from. Thx.
I honestly think it's better to just copy the vita rather than come up with your own weird ass design, likely full of minor problems. I think companies should just really copy paste more what we known is great like the switch lite, the vita or psp and not really be ashamed to do so, since the final result to everyone, is probably better.
I think the price will be the real selling poin. Mini lcd in this kind of console for android and retro gaming is quite useless in a 5 inches display and just rise the price.
I really wish they would stop doing asymmetrical analogs. The dpad on top, like the original Vita, is so much more comfortable. I want the analogs at the bottom like playstation controllers on everything. Hate asymmetrically placed sticks
Have you seen the GPD Win 4 ? It looks like a psp with some ps vita features. They know those sony handhelds were some of the best form factor and bank people nostalgia . This is str8 up copy and paste doe
Now im hoping the vita emu gets even better

I’m loving this
Maybe the 2 Vita style ovular indents on the back where your fingers rest could be clickable buttons?
Nice to see your account didn't get deleted mate 👍
Thanks, we prevented some of the damage but yeah it was really scary for a bit!
I was hoping for the Ayn Fold maybe next time.
I would probably buy a GDP win mini 3 which can do it all with the Strix Point APU. Can dock it and use as a desktop as well

Just got the RG35XXH. Lookimg to upgrade to Pocket 4 Pro next few months, but will wait for this too to compare.

As a owner of a vita 1000 and Odin 2. I am very interested in the device. It now depends on color and price that may cause me to double dip.
I'm hoping there's an indie gogo especially for that $400 price point for the white model for 256GB.
Cheers Alex. Makes the Odin1/2 look pretty plain. I like it, original design or not.

Wish the dpad would be on top. Now I have to buy another grip when using just the dpad for gaming just like the Odin 2 now.
I wish this were a 7840u device
AYN called Loki a nightmare so prob put x86 on the backburner
It would be fucking insane
@@switchlite44 insanely poor battery life
It looks nice but damn with a form factor that small my right thumb is already feeling sore looking at how low that right thumbstick is.
interesting..cheers.
Question! Does said Odin 2 mini have same chip set as Odin 2? I'd really like to still be able to play Switch games.
It will be using SD 8 Gen 2
This is nuts, an actual PS Vita 2!
Wow that’s tiny. That’s kinda what I want right now.
cool, want this with 12GB RAM whoop!
My only complaint is the B button to close to the side.
Arduino 740 or better for the feature set please, even if it is throttled to meet a power budget.
The smaller screen, the less 3000 mAh battery life, and the lack of grip and ergonomics make me love my Odin 2 Pro even more.
I'm waiting for Thor
The PS VITA has rear touchpads.
Maybe the Odin 2 Mini will too?
Would have preferred dpad on top. But looks really nice overall
Same, I think the dpad on top would have been better
I predict the future.....mmmm i see RoeTaKa buying this device mmmmm customize it so it looks like Playstation device mmmmm 😉
🤔.....😬

D Pad should be up top imo. Also $250 would be suicide. $199 or £150 would be perfect.
$279 price
Rivaling rp4 pro device? (their sisterhood company) they need to make money, not lose it 🤦🏼♂️
@@suhtangwong If you’re suggesting £250 is a fair price when I can get a quality product from a reputable company (steam) for £350 you must be high.
250 and white I will buy
$399 for white.
They better keep the fingerprint scanner
It's Literally needed for in game purchases
Right thumbstick is in the wrong place. On a small device they are just uncomfortable to use. Why does everyone use the switch/xbox layout……….
I think it's the left side that is in the wrong place. They should both be on the bottom like the vita
If psvita gets a super software update I won’t even look to the side.
I think the price will be the real selling poin. Mini lcd in this kind of console for android and retro gaming is quite useless in a 5 inches display and just rise the price.
do I really need another odin 2?
One with a chance to fit in my pocket, yes.
I have an odin 2 Max, no i don't beed this but is nice tho.
$339 Base model(Black), $399 Pro (Black and White). Forget it 😑
I actually own a Vita and an Odin 2, so I guess I have no need for this

They're purposely paying homage to ps vita, for respect.

ps vita? copy!!
Except Vita emulation sucks
That D-pad looks really uncomfortable to use... And the entire design looks really cheap tbh. This is the first Ayn device that makes me think that
Agreed. Don't dare say that on the AYN Reddit tho. They get so butt hurt so fast.
Copying Vita….Looks like they are out of idea.
They've always used inspiration from Vita. Now it's just more apparent.

Easy way to grab attention and Vita fans.
