Imagine having the power to travel to all the dimensions where mark was evil and seek revenge yet choose to attack the ONLY innocent one. Think Angstrom, think.
How was he gonna kill those invincibiles. There's no leverage he can use to make him Fly around and evil Mark is going to go all out from start to finish. While mocking you with corny jokes and making the death as painful as possible 😭
He literally couldn't think. He couldn't distinguish between his alternate selves' memories, so he just went for the one that was there when it happened to him.
The character's motivation relies on the audience understanding he is not a rational character who does not have an accurate perception on an individual reality.
Brain(s) damage
Dude literally went insane after the incident. There's not much thinking involved.
Didn't Debbie say Angstrom hated the fact that in his own world Mark was good but he was not?
If Superman lives in a world of cardboard, then you don't want to make him mad. Not if you're made of cardboard yourself.
But if you will make for him "One bad day" and this cardboard world becomes steel world of pain and fear.

The parallel to Omni Man beating Mark in the last season to now is crazy. They really drive home that Mark has the capacity to commit the same violence as his father. This is further cemented in the flashbacks where Mark talks to his dad about wanting to be “just like him”. PHENOMENAL episode.
0:28 it was at that moment Angstrom made it very personal.

Never hurt a man's mother. Any other son would've done exactly the same thing in Mark's shoes
A few years ago now, I got into a fight with a drug dealer when I heard him attacking my mother outside of our apartment. I only remember a few things from that fight from ripping the top of a kitchen chair clean off it's back to watching myself bludgeon the back of his head for attacking her. Luckily he survived and he had sutures and staples. I feel for Mark on a very personal level because I would do anything and everything to help and save my mother. I ended up losing a lot of my strength and quit from the place I was working as a result of that fight because I realized that I could've killed that man in those moments but I kept remembering that he survived and I hope he's doing okay now. It took a toll on me and this episode really captures the gravity of the situation

Anyone else notice that Mark's finishing blows were like Omni-Man's fatal blow in MK?
You mean his fatality? Is that in itself is based off what he did to Mark in season 1
@@christopherherr7561 fatal blow bro, go take a look
His fatal blow was based off Nolan pounding Mark into the mountain. Mark is supposed to be a tragic mirror of Nolan, showing the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. With him practically being destined to destroy Earth, Mark's denial over being a killer throughout the season, the poster showing Mark be a reflection of Nolan. It all led up to Mark recreating that scene in season 1. "Be your father's son."
0:36 “How much Ive been holding back.” I felt this personally
Honestly, pre-explosion Angstrom probably would have wanted somebody to do this to him. He was too far gone.
I love that Invincible is what happens if flying bricks in comic books (Superman, Thor, Sentry, etc) don't know their own strength against their enemy. They could squish their enemies' heads into pulp if they don't know how to hold back their inhuman strength.
A famous example being when Doc Ock took over Spider Man and accidentally punched Scorpion's jaw clean off.
It's funny because sentry does go berserk in siege on asgard as well as an Ultron event.
1st he tears Ultrons head off her shoulders, then he murders Ares by ripping him in half.
Void also breaks every bone in hulks body as sentry struggles to stop him.
Mark knows his own strength or some high extent of it. The problem is he doesn't want to push it to that extreme. Basically Superman can always control himself, Mark here has mental issues and goes ballistic in certain conditions. That's basically the point at the end of the episode. He can do so much but cannot control himself very well.
Reminds me of something Superman said in the Justice League cartoon.
"I feel like I live in a world made of Cardboard. Always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone."
He has to be incredibly careful as to not kill someone with his strength. But against Darkseid in that moment, he didn't need to hold back.
To be fair mark was pissed asf and assumed ansgtrom could take it
Of all the Marks Angstrom could’ve tormented… he picked the one Mark who literally did NOTHING wrong.
Like a coward, he made that choice because he presumed this was the Invincible he could actually defeat due to this Mark's level of compassion.
Because every rest Invincible would have one shotted him
This one was a good person so he wont kill Angstorm so easily

Yet the one time he does win, it traumatizes him. My guy just can't catch a break.😔
To be fair, Armstrong was always like this. When he started this, he wanted to be "the one savior of the multiverse" and at the end his brain literally couldn't register that he was the villain in (our) Mark's dimension. There are infinite of dimensions where Mark is good as well as the dimensions he is evil yet he chose the ones where he joined his father. He just wants to be THE good guy. The moment he said "I won't build MY UTOPIA on blood" i knew he would turn out bad.
That’s called a messiah complex. Dude had an inflated ego from the start.
For someone so smart, he couldn't be any stupider. Instead of just portaling away the Mauler counterparts after they beat Mark enough that he couldn't interfere- or just portal Mark out of harms away, he takes off the helmet and causes a whole explosion. Like come on, he could've pulled anyone out of the multiverse and he chose counterparts of two guys he couldn't entirely control to begin with
@@BladedShardGranted, the Twins were the only ones who could do it that he found, but your point stands. Even after the explosion, he could've built up resources and get suits, ships, and weapons. @@miguelgamesbr6285 Angstrom broke Debbie's arm in half with compound fracture. Her bones came through his skin as her arm was completely torn up. This injury could easily killed her(stuff gets infected or she bled out) or permanently damage her quality of life. When Mark saw that he started going much harder on Angstrom. I'd still argue he didn't go hard enough soon enough as Angstrom was able to dump him on other worlds before he died. Gotta love that story telling. We felt we knew mark was nothing like Nolan. This whole season we see him do the right thing and how less capable he is. Only in the last episode do they show that he’s been holding back the whole time out of fear of being his dad. That he could destroy so much, and he’s felt it this whole time.
Mark was telling that to himself, that he should have been stronger in tempering himself. Is about self-control and sticking to your code.
I understand he wants to control himself and learn to not lose control but I want to see more of mark not holding back and fighting bloody like omni man.
boy do i have some news for you
you'll love the show from this point on
You know I kinda like the way he says it here better because it can also be interpreted as mark saying to himself “I thought you were stronger” like he thought he could have more restraint then that.
2 things Mark lack that could give him an IMMEDIATE edge over majority of his opps:
1) Lack of conviction
2) Lack of Human adrenaline present in the bloodstream
1. Him being raised as a good human boi is the main reason he is hesitant on killing/finishing his opponents. Ending life is not a cultural practice that is taught in human households.
2. He’s part-human, which gives him human hormones. Adrenaline literally heightens a person’s ‘fight-or-flight’ responses (senses, strength, speed, reflexes…) into ‘Captain America’ status. Imagine a Viltrumite with adrenaline in their blood… *oh wait that’s Mark!* With those rushes, Mark could compete with Nolan and Anissa. Unfortunately, Mark has been in so many near-death moments that his brain has gotten use to the feeling. So his brain won’t provide the adrenaline as it’ll expect to recover via Mark’s naive arrogance.
also that "good upbringing" limits his ability to think. angstrom summons those portals with his hands. if you don't wanna kill him just tear his hands off. you prevent him from dying while simultaneously neutralizing the threat of him causing more harm. it's a sadistic but practical way to do it, and it would never occur to mark. hell he had an opportunity to do it when he was holding him up by his scruff in the kitchen
That is maybe it, he showcases moments of extreme adrenaline due to danger. Maybe Viltrumites don't have this kind of sudden outbursts. He is way too young and inexperienced also. He is very impressionable and emotional as well. Not sure how much we can blame the human hormones but yes those sudden outbursts could be considered adrenaline rush. But this would imply that he cannot always use that much power. Just under certain conditions, while Viltrumites apparently can go out like that always and Mark's case being just a mental barrier. It is indeed a difficult topic, is he gaining more power, is he using existing power that he holds back or is it just random unlock due to stress thus cannot be used always. It is definitely implied that he can always do this but tries not to but being a very emotional individual, he ends up lashing out.

I love how he went after the nicest invincible rather than someone else
And that's how neo Yakub was defeated...maybe.
“YOU THINK, YOU CAN THREATEN, MY MOTHER!”
Superman
~Man of Steel~2013
Why does this randomly cut out one of the coolest moments in the sequence
Think, Levy, Think!
I don't THINK he's going to pull tru
You can really feel the guilt mark feels here, and honestly i can't find it in me to feel bad for angstrom since he literally goes back on the very clear morals he sets in the begining because *he* took off his helmet to save marks life
I would never imagine that phrase " I though you were stronger" could be sad.
Finally Mark is not gonna hold back anymore, cant wait for season 3!
1:14 when you finally beat that Dark Souls boss after hours of losing.
You KNOW Invincible was holding back in the season 1 finale compared to the season 2 finale against Omniman when he was able to take care of Levy this easily
Levy isn’t strong lmao holding back or not Nolan still would’ve dog walked him
In another universe:
Sinister Mark: Why wont you die?!?
Angstrom: Nanomachines, son!
Damn, Mark kills his real father, Yakub.
When I think of episode 1 Angstrom and then see this I can't help but feel frustration
This shows a lot of growth for Mark, he realises that some monsters have to be killed. But he still keeos his humanity, because it isnt smth he takes pleasure in. Its just smth that has to be done
Mark was channeling a bit of Omni-Man for a minute there.
1:10 David Martinez from Cyberpunk looking ahh
