Love love Robbie. Love his lyrics, his sound, his storytelling, and when he was younger his looks. Robbie had it all, or almost, did not have a great voice, but The Band had 3 great singers, Levon, Richard, and my favorite Rick Danko.
I think one of his later songs would be my favorite. Showdown at Big sky came out sometime in the '80s and caught my attention for its anti-war lyrics. Love the song I always have. Peace
I agree Robbie and The Band mates need to be remembered as a great Canadian band, but I also like to mention that Guess Who and Rush were also right up there with number one Canadian bands. ☮️
Always great to see your face, Wayne! I know, it means we’ve lost another great, but your tribute reactions are huge for us. Really appreciate what you do. Peace, Brother.
Hey Wayne, you probably know this already, but I just wanted to let you know our musical sharing book club is still chugging along on your Patreon community page. We have laid down quite a library of incredible music over the last 15 months. If it wasn’t for you, our group would never have come together And it is a special thing. I hope you are well and everything is good in your life.
Robbie seems a very smart man. RIP Mr. Robertson. We better enjoy the greats we have left, that's why I'm off to see 38 Special tonight. I look forward to your review of the Irishman, on your movie reaction channel Wayne. Haha.
Robbie's smile would lit up the room. He was very handsome when he was young, but even in his fifties, when he smiled it would like up the room. Love Robbie, sorry he is gone.
My favorite songs from The Band, Up on Cripple Creek, The Weight, The night the drove old Dixie down, Stage Freight, Evangaline, Across the Great Divide, The Shape I'm in and especially It makes no difference,
The Weight, It Makes No Difference, Ophelia, The Night The Drove Old Dixie Down, Somewhere Down the Lazy River and every song he wrote and sang with the Band and his solo career. You didn't mention he was Mohawk/Cayuga Indian/ Jewish. I love and miss Robbie a pure takent and joy❤ Thank you so much
Fallen Angel is a song I can barely stand to listen to. It’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, and my favorite of his solo work, but it was a rock radio staple when my mother died. And the lyrics just related so well to my mom…but I do love it. Sad times for us music fans, and I’m sure not the last time we’ll see your face, Wayne. That’s just about the only thing that’s happy about this series. You’re like, my top musical eulogist! I’m grateful!
My simple understanding is Robbie took residuals for writing credits of songs he wrote. The band equally shared in Album sales and live shows. Levon I believe felt he deserved more from the writing side. Sorry that it comes down to the dollar that creates a rift.
We will all die eventually. The question is: who are the ones left behind? Who are among us to pick up the torch behind him? It's heavy, but it's up to us as musicians and writers and as people to continue on and fight the good fight to create the best of oneself to the world.
That's hard to believe. I mean, you're Richard, Rick, Levon, and Garth, up on the big screen and not getting paid for it? I mean, they were all members of the Band, and it's a movie about the Band. Seems that would be a pretty easy lawsuit to win if it came down to that.
@@SoulTrainBro According to Levon's book, and what I heard Robbie say during the Last Waltz interviews was Robbie grew tired of the normal grind of touring. Robbie seemed to be the only one eager to hang it up. I suspect Martin Scorsese was keen on making this movie, and as we all know now, to have Robbie score movies for him. So Robbie had a soft landing after the Last Waltz concert, whereas, for instance, Levon and Rick Danko went on to have less than stellar solo careers. Fortunately Levon had a successful acting career, so that helped him. I saw the Band several times post-Robbie, and they were quite good. Unfortunately, one might deduce that despite their being able to tour as the Band, it wasn't the same type of pay day as when the original incarnation were recording and touring.
Robbie wanted to stop touring, due to the out of control drug use by Richard, Levon and RIck. He had a young family, and felt the touring was tempting fate. Already Rick (my favorite not being judgemental) had a bad near fatal accident, Richard had an accident and Levon, Richard and Rick were crashing cars on a regular basis.@@mcdaniels6188
The feud was about writing credits for songs and residuals. Levon felt he deserved more more credits and money for the songs. Robbie always deflects. In once wete brothers he claimed they were supposed to get back together but everyone forgot, which was bs, because everyone did get back together but HIM...they recorded albums later without him. Now, opinions say Robbie deserved all the song money, but I also know Robbie has fudged on what occurred.
Been waiting for this one as bad as it was. That's a heck of a way to go. And I can never get tired of looking at your face Wayne! Thanks for doing this for us. And thank you to Fiona! Peace and love to everyone!
You show great respect by taking the time to make these tribute videos for these artists who are no longer with us . Well done , Wayne .
Thank you very much!

No doubt The Band were the best musical group to come out of Canada.

And the Tragically Hip! But hey, this is about Robbie, and the Band were/are absolutely phenomenal❤

@@randyallaben9900 That's great Randy. I gave a shout out to the group in my Rodriguez Tribute. Peace
Thanks for the songs Robbie.

I tried a TV/Movie reaction thing once Pete. It bombed worse than my RCU channel idea. Lol : )
@@SoulTrainBro I had no idea, I would have been a patron. My first request would have been, The Outlaw Josie Wales. Lol
That’s my second favorite movie of all time, Pete! Raging bull, is my number one. I hope you are well!
Damn you have good taste Randy! Lol. We had great music, tv, and movies in our era...@@randyallaben9900

Very nice tribute. Thank you
Thank you too!
Robbie for me was up there with Beck, Peter Green, Zappa, Dave Bromberg, Clapton

Thanks for your beautiful tribute to Toronto and Six Nations own and a seminal songwriter and musician of our time.
That other singer is from a gr8 band called " The BODEANS " check them out😅😊
Looks like Robbie was playing his "last waltz" bronze plated Stratocaster in that show. Poignant way to finish your stage career.
Ty for your gracious tribute, @SoulTrainBro. Always doing right by our great musical artists. Ernie
Great to see you Ernie : )
I never miss your content, Sir. You are missed around these parts! Hope life is treating you well.

Top 5, Up on Cripple Creek, It makes no difference, Stage Freigh, Evangaline, The Weight,
fallen angel
Top 5 (in no particular order):
Go Back To Your Woods
American Roulette
Fallen Angel

Shine Your Light
Think only Robbie got paid for the Last Waltz...no one else in the band got a cent

I'm guessing the concept of the concert was Robbie's alone.
@@SoulTrainBro was Scorceses concept.

Dan Rather was looking for dirt and Robbie wouldn't go there. Good for him. That's what Dan Rather does.
Really? Is he as bad as Barbara Walters? I didn't like her much for that.
Dan is awesome and the best interviewer out there.
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?"
Rem that?
@@SoulTrainBrohe lied to America's face with knowledge and forethought.
Listen to what Robbie said about Levon's comments in his book. Now read Levon's book. By the way, it is a GREAT book!

All they Band members made a lot of money, even if Robbie made more. Read Barney Hopkyns biography of The Band.
