Ah! Finally! A quality review that isn’t that one that comes up when you search Acura TSX where it has the thumbnail “The Worst Performance Car” and then the entire review he talks about how good it is 🤷♂️. Glad it’s getting some love finally!!
My 07 breaks a lot from 100k-200k miles. Starter, alternator, strut, bearing, rack and pinion(common n major), power steering pump(related to rack and pinion), ac system(major), valve cover, driver door lock actuator. 4cyl honda sucks. V6 last longer.
I bet it didn’t take long to sell. 6MT TSXs are understandably desirable and not too common - in my area, at least. Cars from the ‘90s and ‘00s really “hit the spot”. Just enough tech, just enough safety features, just enough efficiency and plenty of personality and character that an enthusiast could fall in love with. The TSX was no exception.

I love my 2004 TSX. I am a courier with a 225 mile route three times a week. I’ve owned it 5 years and it is the most maintenance free car I’ve owned in my 43 years of driving. Oil changes, tires, brake pads, transmission power flush, radiator flush and new spark plugs and coils is all I’ve needed to do. Back country roads are not a problem and consistently get 31 mpg even with spirited highway driving. Acura hit a home run with this build. Great video of this awesome little daily driver.
Recently picked up a 06' TSX in pearl white with 157k miles, clean title. It's an automatic, and I paid a total of $1,800 after paying for registration and insurance. I absolutely love this car, it has such a timeless design and its aged really well in my opinion.

This review was actually really well done and accurate. I just bought an 06 as my first car for $1500 off my neighbor. Seems to be the best decision I ever made, I love the car! It has just the right performance for my liking, handles like a beast, and it’s reliable. Also can’t forget it’s a Honda, so low insurance cost is there, even for me, just getting my license, it’s pretty affordable on one of these!! Edit: only cosmetic mods in my opinion it really needs it is a black roof wrap and a set of Enkei Icon wheels!! Specs are Premium Pearl White paint, A-Spec Spoiler and Split 5-spoke factory rims (two are bent from previous owner, which is the reason for needing to buy new ones)
Awesome video review. This was really useful. I just picked up an 08 TSX with 48K miles from a 94 year old lady. I LOVE it and can't wait to start modding.
This is actually a quality review of a Honda/ Acura. They do indeed make great cars. I myself on a CL7 2 litre Honda Accord variant of this car in the UK and absolutely love it! its not the fastest thing in the world with only 155bhp and a 5 speed manual, but it cruises so nice and is lovely and comfortable, I'd have another one though.

Just picked up a 2004 tsx 6 speed with 250k for $750 needed a core support . Replaced it for $70 . Best deal ever . Drives great still . It’s my 5th tsx
I've got an 08 Silver TSX. Absolutely love this car. Great value for the money and just a great looking car, really timeless. Everytime I wash and clean the thing I'm reminded how much of a great machine it is. I liken to a high quality precision watch that isn't ridiculously expensive. Like a Tissot or high quality Seiko. I recently changed the lower control arms and struts/springs. Went with KYB and Tein 1 inch lowering springs. Great ride quality and proper stock ride height.

I didn't mind the seats too much, the lumbar adjustment helped for long drives. They weren't much more comfortable than the seats from a 90's civic though... just power everything and covered in leather with heating.
How hp was rated was changed for the +06 TSX compared to how hp was rated for the 04-05 models. The +06 2.4L engine improvement up the hp to 205. The 200hp 04-05 TSX was rated at 192-195 hp whe the new measurement was applied. You can feel the hp differences on the butt dyno if you drive a 04/05 TSX back-to-back with a 06/08.
Thats interesting. In my country, finland we have the wagon and sedan honda accord. You can get them with k20, k24 or 2,2dtci. And also the interior here is completely different. Nice car!
I’m hoping to find a nice 07 or 08 when I sell and upgrade from my 8th gen civic in the next year or 2, love my civic but I am so ready for a luxury/performance car that still keeps you in the Honda family of quality !
Cheers for the review! I feel lucky to have found my Royal Blue TSX (2006) with a 6-speed gearbox! My only complaint is that the gear shifter knob is undersized and underwhelming, so I’m going to replace that.
I was looking at the TL before I decided on the TSX. At that point in my life I wasn't ready to give up driving small, sporty cars. Now 9 years later with 2 kids, I would have picked the TL, preferably with the 6 speed manual too!
Man, I woulda cried selling that TSX. I just bought a 2007 a couple years ago with Nav and the 5-speed auto (wish I could have found a 6-speed.) Put an Injen CAI and Flashpro tune on it, and it's been the best daily driver I've ever had, and still fun to drive!
Oh I miss my 2008 TSX 6MT. Bought new. Kept 9.5 years. Never a single problem. Redline every day. Such a fun, precise car. Lots of fun without breaking too many laws. I should had kept it but traded it in for $5000 against a low mileage and well cared for LS430, so that was another love of my life. Hey I needed the room as I had two children in car seats and rear facing baby seats. At least I didn’t cop out and buy a minivan or crossover. I could see myself rebuying a TSX on BAT in a few years. Yeah the headlights on these were amazing,
I'm with you... I'd love to buy another 6MT now that my kids are out of child seats. One thing that I don't want to go back to though, is buying premium fuel.
@@6thGearGarage yeah that’s right the tsx runs on premium. Also have to watch oil levels or vtec stops working. These do burn a a decent amount of oil normally.
Disconnect hands free on passenger side to remove parasitic draw. Replaced starter recently from eBay ($89) , serp belt and plugs and it's running better than ever at 122.5 (I kept it 🙂)
*I used your clear coat headlight instructions for my TSX and came out great*. Purchased my 2005 TSX in 2009... 11 years ago. It is built proof, engine and transmission oil laboratory results show that both are in good shape and have low amounts of wear. Current mileage is 155,000 mixed city and highway. Current upgrades are Bilstein shocks, 21mm rear swayer, subframe connectors, Z rated performance tires, Akebono break pads and centric rotors. . Handling is exceptional.Handling exceeds the oil pump system as it can pull enough G force to shove the oil away from the oil pick up... I'm religious on maintenance though also. Overkill to most. But I plan on keeping this car at least a total of 20 years.
I bought an 2004 TSX half trashed. it takes quite a bit of money to get it to where you have yours. but they way you have yours is where I'm wanting to go with mine. although I already have more HP than you because I've got a cold air intake and 4-2-1 exhaust headers. I also have a new deck and upgraded cabin speakers. I have some engine problems I need to sort out, but after that I do hope to upgrade suspension and get a new paint job. money money money.
Very nice. My "fun car" is a 2012 Accord 6-6 coupe, but I have been looking at these and the 1st gen TLs to replace my old 2000 Camry from daily driver duty. Great video.
Funny its like we have reversed situations. My 3rd gen 4runnwr got wrecked and now I have the opportunity to own a 07 tsx 6 speed. This car has been on my list for some time. If all goes well I should be the proud owner of this car in a couple weeks Has some rust spots on the roof but nothing one weekend of repairs can't fix. I hope I can go through with this purchase.
Dude you need reflash its WAY BETTER after a reflash. Good car, good build quality, reliable, comfortable for some reason I like the Accord Euro version more.
My dad has a used car lot and picked one up for 600 from an auction with 140k miles, the 6 speed manual and all the options for 2006 😅 I’m thinking about buying it but he’ll still charge me extra lmao
Great video I just bought this for my daughters first car last week but I not sure if the doors lock when you put on drive or you have to do it manually? Because she noticed don’t lock or unlock when she turn the car off Sorry crazy question Just wondering I want her safe so she might have to do this every time? Thanks again 2008 Acura tsx
I installed the rear camber arms but didn’t really need them for a mild drop. More just in case I ever wanted to go really low. The bbs were 18x8 +40 and didn’t rub at that height unless I hit a big bump with both kids in the car.
Nice detailed video! Your videos help me a great deal. I love my 6MT TSX. They don't make them like they used too! Stuck between your Koni setup or Tein Flex Z coilovers. Do you mind sharing the link to where you got your suspension? Thanks!
I got Tein Flex Z's for my 07 TSX from Fitment Industries. They price match so I found the cheapest set from a reputable site, in my case Redline, and they priced it for me. My pricematch was $678 before tax. Do your research for a good price match and hit up their customer support! Let me know if you have any questions! P.S. The coils feel great! Adjustability is top notch!
I don’t have any experience with Tein but did consider them. I’m the end I got the koni/GC setup because they are a proven combo and the Koni are rebuildable. I ordered them from Heeltoe and had a good experience with them.
I bought a tsx for the same reason, I wanted to drive to work without the constant annoyance of a mustang revving beside me on the interstate. It was fun for about 5 years but I'm over it now so I'll probably keep my tsx mostly stock 😂😂 how lame right.
I got a 2008 Acura TSX recently, i live in California and these cars easily go over 8k At a dealership if it has under 130k miles, and I got mine with 118k miles for $8,500, $9,500 after California taxes and fees, I put 7k miles so far and I had to put some work but nothing pricey, the paint is overall pretty good just some slight clearcoat failing on the roof and side mirrors and very very slightly on the hood but after polishing & waxing it almost kinda blended in and very shiny, but welcome to California Sun, no rust obviously in California, I did get a check engine light only 500miles in that had to do with the VTEC solenoid and looked it up being a semi-common problem on these I did it at home and the part cost $240 after shipping and taxes, one ignition coil failed which cost $92, redid spark plugs just in case when one ignition coil failed ever again so I know if I have a misfiring cylinder again it’s definitely the ignition coil, so the 4 spark plugs were $40, when I went to get the transmission fluid changed (it’s an automatic) since the fluid was on the darker side but not burnt, I went to a local mechanic that I trust and showed me the driver side axle seal that connects it to the transmission is leaking, happened on the 2006 Toyota Corolla I had before but that car had 300k miles and I did it at home and it was a pain in the ass, but he told me he’ll do it for $189 so it was a good price and I avoided spending a whole Sunday afternoon trying to remove the axle myself, they did the work in about a little over an hour, my rear engine mount is weak so Need to do that, and I had a power steering leak but the mechanic told me that one of the hose looks loose, at home me & my dad got the hose loose and then tight it again and the power steering leak stopped, LMAO so I got lucky it was a lose hose, interior wise I should have done more research about leather but I have ripped two of the leather seats and I can clearly tell now where the dealership reupholstered since the new leather is very soft while the old leather is not as soft, I’ll get seat covers later, for the moment I have patched up the ripped areas, when I bought the car there were no rips. So yeah I didn’t buy the best example but definitely not a bad example either, according to the carfax I’m only the 2nd owner so I guess the previous owner had not done much maintenance during the last couple years
They really are great cars. One thing to look out for are the front lower control arm compliance bushings. The rubber can crack over time due to flexing and cause sloppy handling.
@@6thGearGarage thank you, fortunately the whole front & rear suspension is new, the markings on the suspension and struts show major suspension work at 115k miles, even when I got the car inspected the mechanic showed me everything that was changed especially since the new control arms and other stuff had markings and looked very clean & new, so I guess I won’t have to worry about that for a long time
Damn dude I just got an 07 for 7,500 and 106k miles yesterday now I'm having problems it shakes when I'm at a light or when my ac is on it shakes even more ?
I kick myself for selling mine for $5500 in 2019. 5 years later and nice ones in the condition mine was go for $7-8k around here. The TSX is a great car and now that my kids are older I'd like to buy another 6mt.
I also failed to mention, my car is solid white, with black wheels, slot of people think it's a cop car , until they get close, then realize it's not, soon will paint them, don't want my car looking like a cop car😁
the 06-08 used a different rating system to measure HP, if compared similarly to the 04-05 it's more like a 20hp difference.. dyno results for 04-05 are usually in the 160whp range where as 06-08s are in the 180whp range
@@6thGearGarage np! if i knew this earlier i would've gotten an 06-08, but had to learn the hard way with an 04-05... vtec cross over is night and day difference from 06-08 to 04-05
Just bought an 06 Tsx ,I'm the 3rd owner and the 2nd owner beat it up. I'm in the process of trying to restore it, It feels great driving. Want to know where I can get the storage compartment for CD?
The timing chains in the K24 engines are supposed to be good for 300k miles. I wouldn't worry about miles as much as I'd worry about rust and maintenance, especially if they're highway miles.

They are such great cars - enjoy!!
Disconnect hands free on passenger side to remove parasitic draw. Replaced starter recently from eBay ($89) , serp belt and plugs and it's running better than ever at 122.5 (I kept it 🙂)
I read about parasitic draw issues, but never experienced them on my TSX. Glad it was an easy fix
They're such great cars. I miss mine and would have kept it if I didn't need the $ to pay for the Toyota.
Just picked up a 2007! Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hopefully you got a deal on it. The good thing about fixing the problems yourself is you know they're done right.
I remember seeing this for sale on the tsx forum on fb. You sir, know how to care for a vehicle.
love my TSX, gonna film a walkaround of mine later today
This is the one I'm looking for..
I just got an 06 now and I definitely want to clean my head lights first
It makes the car look so much younger, not to mention better night visibility
@@6thGearGarage I’ll definitely watch and recommend your videos to my tsx family
WOW!!😳 What an EXCELLENT video!! Thank you for such a informative channel and well done presentation! 🙏
size accounting for the amount of people it seats is limiting but i am a 6'1 big guy and a 2006 tsx fit me perfectly
Love your car. I'm currently building 07 that is black on black 6speed like yours. I can't wait to get it finished!!!
I miss mine!
Very nice. My "fun car" is a 2012 Accord 6-6 coupe, but I have been looking at these and the 1st gen TLs to replace my old 2000 Camry from daily driver duty. Great video.
Amazing review, keep up the great work 🔥
Thank you 🙌
It's indeed the double wishbones that make it hold the line so well over bumpy roads.
Super quality review! Thanks!
Own the 04’
Effin love my 6speed!
Almost at 200k
Have an 07 and I live in Ohio too
Down from an accidental and blown ignition coil and spark plug but I love it so!
6m trans as well
I really miss my 6MT tsx - it was the perfect daily
228k and counting on my 08' hands down the best daily
Any major issues with that high of mileage?
Same here no issues 2006 was the best year
9:31 I did not expect that sound effect lmao
Funny its like we have reversed situations. My 3rd gen 4runnwr got wrecked and now I have the opportunity to own a 07 tsx 6 speed. This car has been on my list for some time. If all goes well I should be the proud owner of this car in a couple weeks
Has some rust spots on the roof but nothing one weekend of repairs can't fix. I hope I can go through with this purchase.
I love my Land Cruiser, but I miss driving my TSX about every other day. If I could have afforded to keep the car, I would have 100%.
I own a manual 2006 lowered as well! Love my whip.
I miss mine all the time, would love to own another 6mt!
Subbed as I’m getting ready to buy one
Nice but I own a 2 gen. TL, that 3.2/225 hp, is known as a run forever, now got 230k mi, still running strong for 21 years old.
Those wheels look great!
Thanks! BBS are my favorite wheels.
Just picked up a 07 tsx with 168k miles for 3650 yesterday
That's a steal in today's market! I wish I kept mine.
awesome review
Thanks!
Great review!
Dude you need reflash its WAY BETTER after a reflash. Good car, good build quality, reliable, comfortable for some reason I like the Accord Euro version more.
Great Video. 💯💪🏾
Thanks 💯
My dad has a used car lot and picked one up for 600 from an auction with 140k miles, the 6 speed manual and all the options for 2006 😅
I’m thinking about buying it but he’ll still charge me extra lmao
I would love to own another one. I'd buy it if I were you.
Wish I gotten a 2006-2008. Stuck with my 2005 :(
I miss mine and will buy another some day.
subbed! ur my hero.. land crusher and tsxxxx
I miss my TSX... I want to buy another 06-08 one day. 6 speed of course!
@@6thGearGarage ok why not the 2005?
are they riddled with problems, what to look out for?
@@surfbug104 had some issues with the AC system. 05's are fine. I just like the 06-08 better for the reasons mentioned in the video.
Glad I bought one!
I miss mine, it was such a great car.
Great video
I just bought this for my daughters first car last week but I not sure if the doors lock when you put on drive or you have to do it manually? Because she noticed don’t lock or unlock when she turn the car off
Sorry crazy question
Just wondering I want her safe so she might have to do this every time?
Thanks again
2008 Acura tsx
I honestly can’t remember if mine had that feature or not. It was a manual, so I think it did not.
Fire bro!!!
Excellent video
Great review! And did you installed rear camber kit when you lowered it? Also what was the off set of your bbs? Did it rub?
I installed the rear camber arms but didn’t really need them for a mild drop. More just in case I ever wanted to go really low. The bbs were 18x8 +40 and didn’t rub at that height unless I hit a big bump with both kids in the car.
i also have an 06 , planning to add android radio head unit.
That would be a nice upgrade over using the 1/8" jack to listen to a phone.
@@nicholasortiz5880 Thanks for the insight! I want something slightly sporty but not too stiff I still want my passengers to feel comfortable.
@@6thGearGarage Thanks I heard from a couple forums that Koni yellows are pretty good. I want a balance of some sport and comfort.
@@JosePerez-ok8ez yup that’s the engine mounts
@@DrEvilTag hey how about a green key that flashes like 3 times
Anyone know what brand the stock stereo and speakers are on the 2004 TSX? Sounds better than a 2008 TL I had.
great cars have 2 of them
Prices during the government lockdowns raised prices. Still looking for a good one.
I kick myself for selling mine for $5500 in 2019. 5 years later and nice ones in the condition mine was go for $7-8k around here. The TSX is a great car and now that my kids are older I'd like to buy another 6mt.
That beak was godawful and lasted 10 years! Love the new giant A grills!
I also failed to mention, my car is solid white, with black wheels, slot of people think it's a cop car , until they get close, then realize it's not, soon will paint them, don't want my car looking like a cop car😁
USA never got the wagon 😢.. I’ve just bought a 2.4 Tourer, bullet proof.
USA never gets the good stuff :(
the 06-08 used a different rating system to measure HP, if compared similarly to the 04-05 it's more like a 20hp difference.. dyno results for 04-05 are usually in the 160whp range where as 06-08s are in the 180whp range
Good info, thanks!
@@6thGearGarage np! if i knew this earlier i would've gotten an 06-08, but had to learn the hard way with an 04-05... vtec cross over is night and day difference from 06-08 to 04-05
@@rayzian yes it really is i own both 2006 is more peppy
I got my 2006 automatic 132,000 miles fully loaded with navi in black for $1,500
That’s a total steal 👍
2:02 did you just... call a 3.5mm audio jack an 'eighth inch auxiliary jack'?
i must admit that was a first for me
Yeah I’m from the US, where Americans hate the metric system for some
Reason 😂
Just bought an 06 Tsx ,I'm the 3rd owner and the 2nd owner beat it up. I'm in the process of trying to restore it, It feels great driving. Want to know where I can get the storage compartment for CD?
I’m not sure what is the storage for CD’s?
@@6thGearGarage sorry, I mean the upper center pocket . Last owner removed it to put a radio and lost it, I'm looking to replace it.
Hector Vazquez I would look on eBay.
Hi I’ve the UK version that plastic box behind bumper for noise it can be removed as you say .any think to blank off after removal.?
No there is nothing to block off. It now grabs air from the cavity behind the bumper where the box once was.
I rock 87 fuel 😎 day in day out . No issue ..
What would be a good/ max amount of mileage to buy a used Acura tsx, rsx, or tl?
The timing chains in the K24 engines are supposed to be good for 300k miles. I wouldn't worry about miles as much as I'd worry about rust and maintenance, especially if they're highway miles.
Love my 08 TSX!
I also have a 08 love it and it still turns head got a silver
They aged very well
