R.I.P Kevin Conroy. A great actor with such an iconic portrayal of an iconic character. He defined the voice of Batman for so many generations. The voice of vengeance.

I'm wrecked at the news of this early this morning.
A true legend on and off screen. It didn't matter what kind of Batman he voiced - a grim Dark Knight, a family-friendly Caped Crusader, or a playful Bruce Wayne - he always made us believe. Goodnight, old friend.
Did not know until today that he went to Julliard (sp) with Christopher Reeve.
I am quite distraught right now from this news. He and the rest of the JL cast were at Denver Comic Con a few years ago and I only had the money to get one autograph and I chose Phil Lamar because of Samurai Jack, figuring I'd have plenty of oppurtunities to meet Conroy at a later time.
I'm so glad DC finally printed this. It gives me hope for other great 90s dc books. Like maybe a Kyle Rayner saga omnibus!
Yay! Finally! I’m halfway through this Omni and I can say I love how Waid develops Wally’s personality. While Geoff’s made me care about the rogues, Waid makes Wally so familiar. Also love the lighter tone which makes for a super fun read. Hopefully we get further volumes including his Impulse run. Definitely this omni is a must have for any Flash fan.

I just read this omnibus up to the end of the return of Barry Allen story, and man is it now one of my favourite comic book stories of all time that I have ever read! This run has been incredible so far. Love your videos!
I wish Bill Messner-Loebs' run on the Flash got this kind of treatment...
And his Wonder Woman!
Most wanted omni for sooo long. Awesome. Gotta love that LaRocque artwork in big beautiful format. That image or one other image is exactly what I wanted under the jacket on the boards. LaRocque's splashes and spread pages on RoBA are amazing.
LaRocque's Flash is so underrated, just fantastic.
This is my favorite Flash run and I'm so excited to finally see it collected in an omnibus. Waid made me love Wally West and is the reason why I dropped DC with the new 52 when they tried to erase Wally West. I also think this is when people started saying Barry Allen was more interesting when he was dead. The mythology that Waid built up incredible.
This looks great, Omar; I look forward to picking it up(RIP my Wallet). But I also don't know if you heard but Kevin Conroy passed away. What a tragedy.
One of my all time favourite ‘runs’ in comics. Really enjoyed Mark Waid’s take on Wally, and the book had a stellar run of artists and colourists. I loved Mike Wieringo’s art right out of the gate! Disappointed with the cover that came with the standard edition so I will have to also grab the DM variant. I really hope DC use the Flash #0 cover for volume 2. Thanks Omar!

I think it included issue 40. But not all the GL.

Been wanting to read this a long time. Just got my copy. Armageddon 2001 was the first comic book I ever bought. I probably have the Flash Annual somewhere in my collection.
Thanks for a great vid again Omar, becoming more and more a Flash fan. But I also felt the need to post how gutted I am about Kevin Conroy. Think it's the feel-good vibe I always get here and your vids feel like being part of a family that I wanted to say how gutted I am about this. Over here in the Netherlands the animated series always was on sunday mornings 7.00 and it was the only thing you could make me wake up early for. I recorded them right away so I could watch them over and over. I think it's what made me into comics. Sigh... :(
The main cover kinda hurts since this is Wally's run. Glad I was able to get hands on the variant

They should make a Kevin Conway behind the scenes omni type book. Cant believe thr news he passed away. His voice was truly batman as James Earl Jones is Darth Vader.

I wonder if they publish Golden Age Flash omnibus someday. I thin there were some plans, but it didint work out.
A Golden Age omnibus was in the catalogue at one point, but never made it to solicitations.

My copy arrived yesterday. The Flash is my 2nd favourite DC character ( after the 6/10 detective ! )
Just wanted to post about Conroy since the news has been out since morning but now HR is confirming.
I've gotten some DM variemt covers from IST shipped to NZ. Hickman FF Vol. 1, MK Vol. 1, Roger Stern Omni, MK H, B & H, SW DV Gillen Omni. Yes it's annoying not abIe to get all the ones I'd like because of price, but hey that's what its like living outside the US. I like the idea behind them, that they're supporting the direct market in the US that's cool to see from big componies like DC and Marvel
Man, the price is pretty high for barely over 1,000 pages. I've always wanted to check this run out but don't know if the omnibus is worth it.

I’m so frustrated that for the trade paperbacks of this run that only book 6 and 7 are impossible for me to find. I just can’t wait that long for volume 2 so idk what I’m gonna do lol
Yeah it really sucks. I managed to get 6 at my LCS but no chance I find 7. Probably will just sell off all the ones I have and get all the omnis

Oh no, I just saw that Kevin Conroy passed away. What devastating news, first Pacheco now him. Such an awful week and year for losing beloved legends. I hope he knew how much he meant to so many of us, I like to think that he did. RIP.
Looking forward to giving a read! I already own Geoff Johns run but I haven't read it waiting to start with Waids run.
I bought thick trades as they came out. As DC finished the run, they announced the Omni. I will find it hard to justify purchasing the Omni at this point. Maybe at some point in the future . . .
I have the first book of the newer trades, gotta upgrade and read on with this omnibus
That awful 3 running flash cover was supposed to be the DM cover (the wally cover was shown months ago as the standard cover), but DC change it at the last minute and swap them, now the 3 flash is the standard and the wally cover is the DM.
It IS awful. Wally's build looks like he couldn't even run to the bathroom. But there's more than one reason it looks really bad.

- They don't look they are going fast
- Wally, the protagonist, is in the back
- They have weird proportions (like in knightfall covers)
- They have goofy smiles, like in a cartoon
- Both Wally's arm are on his left side
- There is little to no muscle in Jay and Barry's legs
- The building and street are dull with no details
- Windows show no reflection
- They don't have a shadow

Absolutely - same thing, I ordered what I thought was the standard and now the "standard" is the DM - the 3 Flash cover is brutal - what the hell is the matter with DC? And I'm not as familiar with the run, but why don't either of the covers feature Wieringo art? Is there something significant about the two covers they chose that I don't understand?

I had no idea there was a new Flash Omnibus coming out. I'll have to pick this up. Any word on why we have yet to receive the Bronze Age run? It seems odd they finished Silver Age and then nothing.
Nothing yet sadly. It seems things are still on hiatus.

Omar says in the beginning he prefers mapping in this omni compared to trades but does he ever address what the difference is? I watched whole video and maybe I just missed it?
Also has the latter part of Bill Loebs run ever been collected? Particular the span from like 35-61? Those are rock-solid stories. They should do a couple more omnis collecting the first five years of this series.
Omar discusses the mapping at 19:20. And I don't believe Loebs' run has been collected, no.

Glad this review got released today with the other sad news, rip Mr Conroy. I grew up with Barry but wasn't a fan of the character until Waid's Wally. This book, Kyle Rayner as GL, and David's Aquaman were my staples for a while. I refuse to read Heroes in Crisis just hearing about how they did Wally.
Can't wait to get my copy, Wally and Waid together, there's just nothing better. Really hope future volumes contain Waid's Impulse issues as well. Thanks for the great review, Omar.

Anyone have an idea about how many volumes this run should be?
About three volumes
Vol 1 goes from 62 to 91, but Waid's run goes up to 129 and a few later issues. So I'm guessing one more bigger omni (near 1500 pages) or two more slimer omnis.

Not a huge Waid fan. Not just because he's a total nut, but I think he is a bit overrated. Like I like Kingdom Come, but it's not anything special to me. Having said that, I love The Flash! And I do remember liking what I did read of Waid's run. I'll probably pick up the retail cover. Thanks, Omar!
