  • In this video we take a look at the new 3 Waters Big Fish 105 V2 and the DIY
Pod mount for the Bixpy J-2 Motor. I go over the speed results using the pod mount. This is one of the simplest ways to motorize your Big Fish. You will need the Beaver tail rudder kit from 3 Waters but other than that pick up a DIY Pod Adapter and J-2 Outboard Kit using my affiliate link below. Enjoy!

I love the big fush 105. Perfect large lake and resevoir fishing machine. That is truly a. One man boat. But gotta budget some kind of motor on her. Because pedaling and paddling that vessel should be emergency only, our around your fishing spots. I love my bixpy j2, especially with a 2nd motor. Go all speeds all day long. 😎 🎣 🙏

I completely agree. So far I like the Big Fish feel over my Lure 10. I feel that I paddles better but maybe that's just me. It's pretty much the same speed as my Lure but I like the deeper and more open deck area. I can't wait to keep rigging it out.

I have used a Watersnake 24 and a Newport 55 on my 105. It seems like the size of thrust doesn't matter because the boat , moves like a barge. On flat water 3.2 -3.5 is the best one can hope for. The kayak is great for stability and I find trolling between .5-1 mph is the perfect setting to catch a lot of fish. The watersnake ts24 on my pescador 12 pushes that boat to 4.5... however the boat weighs 30 lbs less and more streamline.

That's is great to hear. I cometely agree with the trolling speed. The Bixpy can push the big fish and other kayaks at that type of speed at its lowest setting and it's perfect for how I troll. I've never used the Newport of the water snake but I'm glad to hear that they are comparable to the Bixpy in the trolling aspect. It is a barge at that but I did find it paddles better than my lure 10.

How do you load all of the large kayaks you use?

The truck makes it a lot easier now. When I'm fishing by myself I'll usually place the kayak cart towards the far steen of the kayak that way I can roll it up to the truck bed and place the bow of the kayak on the tailgate. I'll then lift the back end up and slide it on the bed. The same can be done with T-Bones. Before having a truck I just used a utility trailer. I wasn't going to strain myself trying to get heavy kayaks on the roof.

Is Bixpy motor still good for trolling around awhile fishing ?

In my opinion yes. I normally use two rods and bottom bounce on the lake. I troll less than 1mph and it lasts a really long time.
