How To Clean And Maintain The Collet Of Your Flex Shaft

I often find that when using my flex shaft, the drill or burr is slightly wobbling in the hand piece and is not centred. This could be due to the fact that there is dust, dirt, polish, lemel stuck within the jaws of the hand piece. Using nylon brush pipe cleaners to clean the inside of the collet just may help.

Hi Andrew, is there as such to open up the hand piece for a good cleanup and lubrication?
I got water splash on mine, later on it got stuck and really got me worried, I was able to open partially at least get the most grit out of it, it moves fine now but seems a bit noisier than before, and for some reason I just can't find a tutorial video for this.

Andrew, you mentioned compressed air, I've been told that compressed air is not a good idea for these type of uses as it can drive grit into the bearings - Ouch!

Squirt some WD40 or silicon grease in the Chuck before cleaning, the grease will loosen the dirt.

Those are called bottle brushes. Pipe cleaners are smaller and different than what you are showing. They are usually white and probably work much better than those
