Steve Miller Band has a bunch of great hits. What is also interesting was that his godfather was the famous Les Paul, and other famous musicians would come over to his parents' house to record their music! I recommend looking into his biography. Very interesting man.

Take the Money and Run Fly like an Eagle Jet Airliner Jungle Love Abracadabra Swingtown Those are my faves, behind The Joker, because this ones my all time favorite Steve Miller Band song.
Some of the best TSMB right there (probably in that same order). Not always the biggest hits, but still the best of TSMB. I would probably add Jungle Love.
Steve Miller has a song called “Space Cowboy”, it’s a great song. He has A TON of amazing music. “Livin’ in the USA” has a fat bass line, lol. Great reaction!
I took my wife to his Fly Like a Eagle tour in Pullman Washington in 1977. He was huge at the time. It was one of our first dates. Today (October 25) is our 41st anniversary.

My little brother was called Maurice when he was in the Army. Aaron died on 1/27/21 just shy of his 46th birthday. This song will always remind me of him. Aaron Hamilton 2/24/75-1/27/21.
@rebeccalipps wow, I'm so sorry for your loss. Very sad to lose a brother. This is a very strange coincidence... but The Joker always reminds me of my cousin who died at 21 years old on February 25, 1975. I remember that date, a Tuesday, because I had been out super late that night at a regrettable event...bad night for me, and didn't know he had passed until the next day. But oh man, he loved this song! Always had a huge smile when he'd sing along with it. I lost my cousin the day after your little brother was born, and now they're both in heaven, hopefully groovin' to The Joker.🙌
Steve Miller is a great guitarist. He was mentored by Jazz/Pop guitarist Les Paul. The Steve Miller Band has been around since the late-1960s, and are known for their great albums, and great album cover artwork, particularly during the 1970s. They have had a number of hit songs, such as "Jet Airliner", "Livin' In The USA", "Take The Money And Run", "Keep On Rocking Me, Baby", "Fly Like An Eagle", "The Joker", and "Abracadabra" (which has a music video for the song). Steve Miller is an inductee in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. He is 78 years old. Note: In 1966, The Steve Miller Band was the backing band for Chuck Berry when his live concert album, ""Live At Fillmore Auditorium" was recorded and released that year.
Steve's Mother Was A Jazz Singer & His Father A Pathologist As Well As A Recording Engineer Who Worked With Greats Such As T-Bone Walker & Music/Guitar Making Icon Les Paul..Les Was Steve's Godfather.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Les Paul, the inventor of the Les Paul solid body Electric Guitar (a classic), many other music related electronics and himself a superb guitarist, was Steve Miller's Godfather, mentor, and teacher.
Man, I have been listening to that song since 1973, junior high school. Steve Miller was the singer, guitar, bass player and wrote the song. It was told back then that Steve Miller was the only one in the SMB at the time. He recorded may guitar parts and layered them on top of another,to give it a fuller sound and the same layering of the vocals, sounds like many people. So at that time The Steve Miller Band was only Steve Miller , lol. All this was new technology then , now I think it's completely different with the digital technique. The I play my music in the sun, means his songs are straight forward, but everything else (joker, smoker, midnight toker) is under cover of night . I am 62 yrs old now and still love this tune man. Try Swingtown by TSMB. LFR, yer killin' it these days. The Archie Bunker reactions are a smart move. Imho, good music needs a good beat to dance around the pulse, some simple lyrics (or deep if that's yer thing), and a great voice(s). All the rest is just style.

Steve Miller has rabbit hole of music to dive into. Wrote and sang the often covered Fly Like An Eagle. Best cover, btw, is the Neville Brothers, IMHO
If you like the "chill" aspect of this song, give a listen to this band's "Wild Mountain Honey."
