That was their intention all along

@@moviecrafts9686 yes..the director is writing the script for Dune: Messiah. And depending on how that goes he might direct more he wants to make sure he doesn't get fatigue.
Feyd was by far the character I most expected to meet in this part 2, and I liked it but I think it was worth much more, Butler's performance is excellent, he has good fights, he has several interesting elements, and his screen presence is great, but I think he needed a lot more time on screen and more interactions with other characters, I don't know what he is like in the book, but here in the movie he was a good villain for me who could have been even better
In the book he is not that much either, he would have more screen time since in the books he appears in "part 1". But from the scenes we got in part 2 there was many improvements to compensate the lack of time. Dune was never really strong in the villain aspect, what kept the story intriguing was the concept of Plans Within Plans. In the books what looks like a stupid decision by one of the parties, like the Atreides going for the emperor's trap, or the Harkonens after years of experience being incompetent when back on Arrakis, its revealed as a deception inside another.
In the book, though also an important character, the interpretation of him is much less epic. Denis, Austin and the team really went above and beyond with this character, so much so that I wish he had more role to play in the story. But deep down, I knew he had to die in the end. The curse of doing too much of a good job, perhaps? And now I want a prequel entirely focus on Geidi Prime.
After watching the film I noticed most of the times this film plays is with Paul. But only after the Water of Life. Once he becomes the Kwisatz Haderach this is his theme.
It's hard to know greatness when you are witnessing it for the first time, but believe me, the Harkonnen Arena scene will be one of the most epic scenes in movie history!
I love how the theme is a darker version of Song of the Sisters, which is a Bene Gesserit suite. It shows people the fact that Feyd was as much a product of the Bene Gesserit as Paul, probably more. He still has his own Harkonnen theme, which I personally do not like as much as the other tracks, but kull wahad the inclusion of the chants "FEYD! FEYD! FEYD!" and the Song of The Sisters track is impeccable. And the Harkonnen horn is implemented in a much better way here than in the first OST. I also love this new take on the main Dune theme, with this new (what I believe to be) deep cello-like instrument. This has to be Hans' best
I love the part at 4:47 that sounds simultaneously like fanfare and a funeral dirge. Perfect theme for this character. I only wish we had more of him although he was despicable! Austin Butler killed this role.
Upon first listen of the soundtrack for part 2, I assumed that "You Fought Well," "Travel South," and "Arrival" were all solely part of Paul's cues. But upon watching the film yesterday and listening to said cues in context did I understand. Yes, they are still Paul's cues but as you pointed out, it is also shared by Feyd-Rautha as well, given their relation to each other. In that context, it makes sense why they shared those cues with each other. They're also darker than Paul's in a way. As for the Harkonnen Arena cue, it is one of my favorite standout tracks for part 2 so far. It has the infamous "war horn" here and there in spades when you know where to look. I also really like the intense electronics, sinister chanting choirs, tribal drumming and ominous strings as well.
Austin stole this movie for me, going on saturday to watch it another time - to focus more on his scenes because i didn't get enough of him... the impact he had
This theme for the Harkonnens would make for a good theme to play for the Arenas of Commorragh in Warhammer 40k. With a new rising Dark Eldar champion in his youth with talented skill, precision, and strong will marching into the clearing of the Arena greeted by the cheers and roars of over a million Drukhari where many Cabals, Archons, and the mightiest of the Drukhari including Asdrubael Vect himself gather watching as the young Drukhari takes on multiple skilled captured Astartes in the ring and eventually working himself up to challenging a captured Chapter Master or maybe even a very rare Custodes prisoner without any underhanded weapons, gadgets, or cheats. Simply a fair even fight by the blade and physical attributes infront of the whole crowd and varies parties. A true duel with his life on the line.
My thoughts about 40k while watching Dune 2, after the first movie I was a bit skeptical with the ability of Denis Villeneuve to draw LARGE scale, but after 2nd part I thought that it's Denny who could honor us with 40k masterpiece and not Zack Snyder. The scene with Paul on fremen council has been pure Lorgar/Ecclesiarchy vibes, a power of faith unleashed.
I've never read "Dune" in English, only in Polish, so I thought that title "na-baron" is translated, because "na-" could be a shortened word "następny", which means "next in line", so full title would be simply "next after baron".
Hm, the prefix "na-" means nominated or next in line. I've read dune in Russian and always thought it was shortened word from "naslednik/наследник" (which is heir/successor) almost like in Polish "następny = следующий" (next/another).
For me the whole movie is a absolute Masterpiece, everything is epic, atmospheric, dark and light, beautiful,, music stunning, Actors fit perfect, Story amazing.. I could go on! I don't get impressed easy but Dune is really impressive!!!!! Top notch really ❤❤❤
He did not have 2 knives. Paul is first stabbed in the side with his own knife, then Feyd tries to plunge his dagger into his neck. Paul allows him to do this, but manages to pull the knife from his side and stab Fade with it.
Believe me or not im not blinded by latest things. By the moment...... Keeping on mind all Hans ZImmer's work i gotta say Dune 2 might be the best score he ever created. It is just stunning and out of this world (as should be)
I think they droped the ball with the third act of the movie, rushing it. especially the part where everyone was gathered to watch Paul and Fade-Rautha fight, and Paul monologuing.. also, it made no sense that Paul all of a sudden switched from "I will never be pert of the prophecy" and "I will always be with Chani", to "I'm the messiah" and "Empress is now my wife".. quite a drastic change for a character who throughout most of two movies was "good-hearted", "considerate" and "cared for the people", to sending Fremen into holly war to subjugate the whole of Lanzarat.. I think in this particular movie they could've concentrated MUCH more on Giedy Prime, because that was best looking part of the movie.. the entirety of Harkonen civilization is extremely interesting.. also, the battle between Fremen and Saurdukar was what, 60 seconds..??? why..??? Even the battle between Harkonens and Atreites took much longer then that.. Anyways, I think there were few missed oportunities..
He made a "turn" in the books as well. Probably when he took the Water of Life, and he suddenly became more godlike and less concerned about who he loved on a personal level.
@@michaeljmobley I wouldn't mind the "turn" if it was done right.. they could've "eased" us into it 🙂 I mean as I said, for almost whole two movies he was really nice, honorable and seemed to care about people in general.. then all of a sudden "let's burn the galaxy to a crisp" 🙂kinda out of character.. there could've been an "arc" of sorts, where he "learns" something VERY important.. but not showing that to your audience nor even imply why he would "change" broke immersion quite a bit.. Although I do think they should've drastically extended either the movie, or turned it into two parts, as tbh I was MUCH more interested in Gidie Prime and how Harkonen society operated.. also Selusa Secundus and Sardaukar.. and not to mention it would've been interesting to see more of the Emperor and his court.. oh, and the "last battle" between Fremen and Sardaukar was quite anti-epic 🙂 they didn't even bother to show how they fired the "atomics", those being the most powerful weapons in Dune and all.. Anyways, in my opinion this was a bit of a missed opportunity..
@@san0saky Did you not think he seemed entirely different after he drank the Water of Life? I think this was his turn. And he fully believed himself in being a God or Messiah.
@@michaeljmobley again, I think it was done "too on the nose".. if I remember correctly Paul was always "afraid" of "messiah" role, and that's why only his son was able to become "God Emperor".. in any case, I think they could've expanded on why he hates Harkonens, the Emperor and Houses of Lanzarat.. perhaps they could've shown absolute destruction of Caledan, and much more sorrow and oppression for the Fremen.. basically slowly turning from a "good" guy to someone willing to do almost anything to get revenge.. and then when he drinks "water of life" and changes completely, it wouldn't have been so sudden.. anyways, that's just my take on this ;-)
I love how he was portrayed in the film, is like he was taken out of the book and brought it to the live action, and he was perfect and his theme is top notch compared to Paul's. Hey i have a question, what is your opinion on the live action Avatar The Last Airbender 2024 series soundtrack??
Why did Vladimir organize this for his birthday and say in the trailer show me who you are and how can he hear what he's saying from a distance? Hello I'd like to know why after the fight he says to his uncle Vladimir You tried to kill me what did they mean when they said you tried to kill me and Why does he say I should drown you in your bathtub because after that we see Margot Frening doing the Gom Jabbar test why did I Feyd have to do the Gom Jabbar test so in one of the scenes further on we see Vladimir Feyd and Rabbane his brother kneel down in front of a person they are attacking why did he have to kneel down thank you for your answer.
First question, it appears to be a coming of age ritual for him, since he is the expected heir to house Harkonnen, he must show his brutality and skill in combat. Second, it sounds like the fights were usually fixed - the other combatants in the ring were drugged and wounded to make it easier to kill them. Dr Yueh was not drugged, and gave Feyd a real fight he almost lost. It appears Vladimir wanted to test his strength for real, and was willing to allow him to die if he was too weak to beat Yueh. In the book, we learn that Feyd had at one point tried to kill Vladimir by attaching a poison needle to the thigh of one of his sex slaves (🤢), and it is heavily implied that Vladimir had abused him at some points throughout his life. Feyd had good reason to be willing to kill Vladimir, and he was a psychopath, but he also knew not to bite the hand that feeds, and when given an assignment to stop the fremen uprising on arrakis, with the reward of potentially becoming the emperor, he took it. I don't think Feyd undertook the gom jabbar test in the book, I forgot - but in the movie, I guess what they were going with was trying to see if Feyd would also pass the test, to see if he was worth serving the Bene Gesserit's purposes, and he passed. It helps show him as a parallel to Paul in a way. I don't remember the last scene you're talking about - maybe you mean the emperor Shaddam? It was Paul who organized the attack on the emperor and house Harkonnen at the same time.
@@mrTannu666 THANK YOU!!!! Sorry, but when I saw that scene in the theatre, someone's ringtone went off at the EXACT moment he whispered in his ear, lmao 🤣
Plans within plans. In the book this is more fleshed out, the baron was allowing Batista incompetence to make Feyd the new ruler of Arrakis and at the same time, by disrupting the spice making the Emperor weak enough to play his card of exposing the Sadurkar role in the Atreides raid. They also didnt have time for the Atreides Mentat machinations, so I understand how without these details it just looks like incompetence.

@@kanyeeast8928 nah man, wasn’t exaggerating.
1.43:1 imax screens are a different experience entirely
@@kanyeeast8928 That's probably just a me thing. Don't worry about it too much.
Feyd was by far the character I most expected to meet in this part 2, and I liked it but I think it was worth much more, Butler's performance is excellent, he has good fights, he has several interesting elements, and his screen presence is great, but I think he needed a lot more time on screen and more interactions with other characters, I don't know what he is like in the book, but here in the movie he was a good villain for me who could have been even better
true, most side chars get too little time to develop
I need a prequel with Austin most specifically, he was so underused imo.. a huge waste of him
Having read the book, I was pleased to see far more of Feyd than we got in the books.@@strayfreckles
Honestly, i'd pay full ticket price just to go an Imax for just this scene...it's that epic.
After watching the film I noticed most of the times this film plays is with Paul. But only after the Water of Life. Once he becomes the Kwisatz Haderach this is his theme.
He did say that in order to get what he wants he needs to "be like the harkonnens"
Read the book y'all. Thank me later.
I gotta say he is a beast
That is his brother.
I would have gladly waited another 10 years for this movie, absolutely magnificent, 10/10.
This has to be Hans' best
,,Happy Birthday Nephaw"
One of the greatest villans of all time
,,Kiss or die"
I love the part at 4:47 that sounds simultaneously like fanfare and a funeral dirge. Perfect theme for this character. I only wish we had more of him although he was despicable! Austin Butler killed this role.
4:47 this part in the movie is why I searched for this tune 🙂 EPIC
I knew what I was going to search on youtube when watching feyd enter the arena…
Austin Butler total beast in this film :D
him not blinking in most scenes he is in, even when he approaches the Baron in his bathtub and speaks of becoming the Emperor!
I wish we would get a bit more Feyd and Rabban scenes. Or that one scene should have been longer.
I’m just glad he brought them in
@@regimeoftruth yeah, same
I need a movie focused on the harkonnens tbh
It’s unfortunate but the movie was being more than generous to them because they weren’t doing much in the books.
"You fought well Atreides"
Man, I'm gonna have to see this in theaters again.
Did it, the second time it tastes even better, what a time to be alive and witness this masterpiece.
Feyd Rautha! Feyd Rautha!
Thank you for me
Feyd Rautha was the best part of the movie.
I also really like the intense electronics, sinister chanting choirs, tribal drumming and ominous strings as well.
well said, cousin
I mean like both were meant to be the possible parents of the planned Kwisatz haderach.
Austin stole this movie for me, going on saturday to watch it another time - to focus more on his scenes because i didn't get enough of him... the impact he had
I wish there was more gore in the movie to turn him even worse
Real mfs listen to this while in the car or on the subway
I’m on a bus
Part II really had insane chills
For me the whole movie is a absolute Masterpiece, everything is epic, atmospheric, dark and light, beautiful,, music stunning, Actors fit perfect, Story amazing.. I could go on! I don't get impressed easy but Dune is really impressive!!!!! Top notch really ❤❤❤
Oscar....i'm sure
6:28 chills down my spine 🥶🥶🥶
Hans Zimmer killed this. This is terrifying and nightmarish.
He kicks ass.
The fact that the only reason Paul won against him is cause he has 1 extra knife💀
i mean lets not forget that in the movie paul was fighting the whole day and feyd was just chilling the whole day on the emperors ship lol
He did not have 2 knives. Paul is first stabbed in the side with his own knife, then Feyd tries to plunge his dagger into his neck. Paul allows him to do this, but manages to pull the knife from his side and stab Fade with it.
Do you have the music in the Feyd Rautha room when he test his blade to a slave? That music really portrays the perverted/psychotic nature of Feyd.
Dune: Part Two Soundtrack | Spice - Hans Zimmer WaterTower
Feyd is not a villain just a young man of his time and obligations.
The cinematography was pulling me in. I saw it in 2D, not imax, just regular local movie theatre and the arena scene made me squirm.
This song has been in my head for the past couple days especially the guitar 🔥
Austin Butler nailed this character.
Every time he was on screen I felt uncomfortable, which was how it should’ve been.
I wanted so much to see more of Feyd. I'm sad he's dead!!!!!!!!
Goosebumps!
Movie of the decade!
Believe me or not im not blinded by latest things. By the moment...... Keeping on mind all Hans ZImmer's work i gotta say Dune 2 might be the best score he ever created. It is just stunning and out of this world (as should be)
I need the announcer to be apart of this 😭
feyd rautha feyd
Yes
Take notice Hollywood this is a villain since you forgot what villain is in recent years
Feyd Rautha!!! Feyd Rautha!!! Feyd Rautha!!!
I sincerely hope that Hans Zimmer will write the soundtrack to films and TV series on WH40.000
Something something chills, something something goosebumps, and thing about tears
Zimmer is amazing it funny my all time favorite films he’s scored the majority of them, reminds me of Banes theme with drums
Can anyone recommend more music like this? Especially interested in the deep bass choir at the start! Thank you!
@@michaeljmobley again, I think it was done "too on the nose".. if I remember correctly Paul was always "afraid" of "messiah" role, and that's why only his son was able to become "God Emperor".. in any case, I think they could've expanded on why he hates Harkonens, the Emperor and Houses of Lanzarat.. perhaps they could've shown absolute destruction of Caledan, and much more sorrow and oppression for the Fremen.. basically slowly turning from a "good" guy to someone willing to do almost anything to get revenge.. and then when he drinks "water of life" and changes completely, it wouldn't have been so sudden.. anyways, that's just my take on this ;-)
@@san0sakyyou should rewatch the movie he changed after drinking the water because his visions were clear now.
I need the soundtrack of the scene right after the area, I cannot find it anywhere...
Best moment: 4:30-5:11;6:50-8:15
Such amazing villains seriously it’s a shame they killed all thee at the end, I wonder what’s gonna happen to the house of Harkonen now
Well, the bloodline is secured. I wonder how the other Harkonnens will react to the death of their leader and the inheritor in Dune:Messiah
FEYD RAUTHAaAAaaAaAA 💀
I think the part at 4:47 was more prominent in the film. if anyone has got a version of the track that is closer to that, let me know.

May thy knife chip and shatter
Is he the only character in this movie that gets his own intro scene and theme music? I just realized.
May your blade chip and shatter.
Best Picture of 2024
Movie didn't feel grand scale until they were on Geidi Prime.
pretty sure denis did that purposefully, to show how drastically different the harkonnens and geidi prime are to the fremen, atriedes and arrakis
I love how he was portrayed in the film, is like he was taken out of the book and brought it to the live action, and he was perfect and his theme is top notch compared to Paul's. Hey i have a question, what is your opinion on the live action Avatar The Last Airbender 2024 series soundtrack??
he my fav character in the movie 🫣
You fought well Atreides.
Why did Vladimir organize this for his birthday and say in the trailer show me who you are and how can he hear what he's saying from a distance?
Hello I'd like to know why after the fight he says to his uncle Vladimir You tried to kill me what did they mean when they said you tried to kill me and Why does he say I should drown you in your bathtub
because after that we see Margot Frening doing the Gom Jabbar test why did I Feyd have to do the Gom Jabbar test so in one of the scenes further on we see Vladimir Feyd and Rabbane his brother kneel down in front of a person they are attacking why did he have to kneel down thank you for your answer.
@@HickoryJ thats not dr. zYueh lmao, thats diff actor that played commander in first movie

Still not the biggest fan of the creative choice to make Harkonnens a bunch of pasties. Great film though
What does that even mean? Pasties?
Plans within plans. In the book this is more fleshed out, the baron was allowing Batista incompetence to make Feyd the new ruler of Arrakis and at the same time, by disrupting the spice making the Emperor weak enough to play his card of exposing the Sadurkar role in the Atreides raid. They also didnt have time for the Atreides Mentat machinations, so I understand how without these details it just looks like incompetence.

@@darthvader4899did you watch the film they are all pale white ... pasties is like a term for that they all looked like pale mannequins kinda I had no problem with it but that’s his opinion on the term “pasties”
