Talk about falling down a rabbit hole into a simpler time... Why do I feel so much lighter after watching this? Surely this was the height of civilization....
This band really did leave an impression on us lot! I remember buying the White Room on tape when it came out, that tape ended up in my mates Fiesta MK2 car, we would blast this tape 24/7. There was no other band like them at the time! the radio would play KLF stuff non stop. Crazy times.
I'm loving this! KLF were not only innovative, they were bonkers! They always did something mad for TOTP - their Grim Up North performance goes down with Orbital's Blue Room (two guys playing chess) as the most surreal ever on the show. Thanks for doing this :)
@@featheredup1 It's notable that Jimmy Cauty was/is a member of both The Orb and The KLF. Cauty and Paterson (The Orb) split in 1990 though, with Paterson continuing as The Orb and Cauty going full time into The KLF. Blue Room was released in 1992.
Just how good and wholesome were these boys and girls ( and cars )and druids and country megastars... All good things never last but boy did we have a bloody good time!! Mu Mu.......Mu Mu
What a great compilation of clips. TOTP showcased who and what these artists were all about. I'm currently reading Turn Up The Strobe by Ian Shirley about the history of KLF, The JAMS & The Timelords. A fascinating read and loving the creativity by those involved. I'm also looking forward to the KLF Blu-ray release in November. Great days are here again.
They even wrote a book about how to have a number one hit single. My favourite though was the epic album Chill Out. That got me into Elvis and Fleetwood Mac. Chill Out was just beautiful and still one of my top 10 albums.
Well, technically it was 'The Timelords' ;~) They had hits as The Timelords, The KLF, Space, The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, K2, 2K & OWO (One World Orchestra)

Awesome Just love the KLF wacky unanswerable looks and unique sound in all things linked to the culture of the past mixed with the unfortunate future ahead of us in 2021
This is amazing, specially the live vocals on Justified and Ancient. By the way, excellent material about The KLF in this channel, instant suscribed! Grettings from Chile!
Welcome to the channel my friend, very happy that you found us.Thank you for watching, subscribing and leaving your kind words, it's greatly appreciated 🛆
I grabbed a picture 7' of it from the bargain bin with the car on it, reaching over the rim of the record. Didn't know nothing about them and learned only years later that they were the KLF. And even more decades later, when DrWho finally got broadcasted in germany, I learned about Time lords and the TARDIS.
Lol, it is Cressida Cauty, Jimmy's wife at the time. She was a backing singer who choreographed the dancers and made the costumes for most of the KLF's videos and stage performances.
Not sure what you mean tbh? There was no lead singer really, The KLF was more of a collective as the boys wanted to remain as faceless as possible so a host of members, guests & even the car have fronted the band at various times. Katie Kissoon & Maxine Harvey are the 2 most recognizable female singers and they both appear on different versions of '3am Eternal' that may be where you are getting confused? Maxine Harvey's version of 'Justified & Ancient' is way better than the Tammy Wynette version that got released imo.

Nah, just not worth putting in twice really. I have got the Glitter version uploaded but I did de-glitter it first. No point giving that dirty old nonce any airtime imo.
Bill Drummond is spending a lot of time working on his art. Have a look for "Penkiln Burn" I met him a few years ago (2015 I think) when he navigated the Birmingham Canals on a raft made of a couple of oil drums and planks of wood and graffitied a tunnel under the M6 and J6 (Spaghetti Junction) and left a load of daffodils. Really bizzare event but it was like meeting a god :) He then went on to a venue in central Birmingham near the Custard Factory and spoke about his art. Really very nice guy. I've always been a huge fan of the KLF and still am. It's music that can bring me out of any doldrums; it's just timeless.
Love this 😢 sweet memories
я тоже пташка❤😢

Loved The KLF
I WAS BIG FAN back in the day
being 16 yrs old when thus came out shows me just how lucky i was to live at a time of great music and a time of the MU
I'm loving this! KLF were not only innovative, they were bonkers! They always did something mad for TOTP - their Grim Up North performance goes down with Orbital's Blue Room (two guys playing chess) as the most surreal ever on the show. Thanks for doing this :)
…The Orb’s Blue room to be precise)
They were good
Check Pet Shop Boys "Can you forgive her?" performance at TOTP.
@@winterland2011 Yes I remember it well! They basically re-enacted the video minus the special effects! Was pretty good though :)

Indeed. Got that Blu-ray on pre-order myself. Xmas comes early this year :) Ya just knew they would do something to appease the 23 in 2023 :p
Thank you for editing this! One of the best bands ever! They came, they had no. 1s they left on the top at the Brits, firing blanks in crowd! Cheers
This is what the MU(sic) is about !
That It’s Grim Up North performance was something else man
Last train is a master piece of music 🎶
We got to the party late across the pond so it's fun to see these videos

Forgot about the DR who song and didn't realise it was KLF, top band in the early 90s along with the shamen
Well, technically it was 'The Timelords' ;~)
They had hits as The Timelords, The KLF, Space, The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, K2, 2K & OWO (One World Orchestra)
I''m 47, and I cannot believe I only just realised the backing singers/dancers are wearing Mu Mu muumuus.
Brutal la voz de la cantante lo mejor de los 90' junto a liz torres y la cantante de snap !!!
"There are no live instruments on any of our recordings and we're gonna be extremely blatant about it"
He he, that usually is the case but this does have the live brass band and choir ;)
I just randomly picked up a copy of the White Room and it has become my favorite CD

A fantastic and legendary collection of dance 😄😄
Thanks for the upload - what’s done is done forever, time is eternal
RIP Ricardo da Force
He's greatly missed!
The klf just brilliant ❤❤❤
doing "its grim up north"
in the TOTP studio in London,
is quite ironic LOL.
KLF defined lots of genre in music acid country uptempo technology rock rnb amalgamated into a unison never ever seen before ahead of their time
Positively bonkers and brilliant
How the world needs KLF now
Fantasticagorical, I need a lie down now.
Trust the boys to make it as weird as possible for everyone involved. ❤
Just awesome! The halcyon days.
I wasn’t really a big fan at the time but somehow now I wish I was

You could always count on them to give it all. My fave (performance) is Last train, just love it when they start circling plus the outfits of course
Some banging tunes i almost forgot about it’s all grim up north here in Sheffield ha

Estás musicas me faz lembrar muito da minha adolescência TEMPO BOM Q NÃO VOLTAM +
Just like the Prodigy they were way ahead at that time.
I absolutely LOVED THE KLF
They we’re AWESOME back in the day
Yes they maybe crazy
But, they’re music reached new heights!!
JUSTIFIED !!
What time is love was and always will be the best track of the rave era. 😊
Unplugged guitars. The BBC must have loved this
And the drums continue to play when the drummers stopped for 10 seconds.
That’s called an air guitar😅
❤so appropriate ❤
Have to be at least in the Top 5 of bands that have altered music forever
No sé qué decir. La emoción me supera N.1 Love you KLF
Glastonbury 2021
I loved the KLF thanks
Killer beats timeless
And just think - life was much simpler then
They brung the beat back

Most seminal band of the 80s/90s
*You had to be there. Good times!*
I would have if I never but I was only 5 so was more into Fred Penner at this time.
3am eternal is mind blowing awesome
Never knowingly undersold.
Batshit crazy and great (they mentioned Crewe)
..so good.. thank god for the K L F
..the k the l the f and the Ology..
Now that's what you call music
I listen to it in my car
Hate to be THAT middle-aged YT comment tosspot but I would give anything to go back to the height of KLF
Me too... Dunno about going back to the amount of LSD & Mary Jane that 18 year old me consumed at the time though :p
@@Yungrexyahhh you've still got it in you to pop an E

Thank you! Cheers!
KLF SUPER 1990
I'm a rock & metal fan. I hate dance / disco with a passion but I love KLF. Every incarceration of them. Weird eh
KLF at download festival would be amazing lol
Me too@@LB1973
You’d be called crazy for leaving 808 State but boy did he have something important to do 👍🏻
Pure geniuses.
i miss the klf😢 mu mu
это невероятно круто!
Tops
KLF were genius
Hali-fax
Bring the beat back !!!🔥🔥🔥
I really hope they’re using pre 3 March 1947 ivory in their costumes.
I love the energy of the girl with the red hair. I believe its Jimmy Cautys sister
Lol, it is Cressida Cauty, Jimmy's wife at the time. She was a backing singer who choreographed the dancers and made the costumes for most of the KLF's videos and stage performances.
@@Yungrexy Wife! I knew it was a close relative of some kind, lol. Either way she's fantastic. She should have gotten more exposure
I know the Glitter Band had two drummers, but there should be more two-drummer bands nowadays.
so weird, so cool!!!!!
It's Grim up north. Not arf!! I remember parts of Cumbia being mentioned on 12" version
la musica con la que crecí
Shame the last bit is out of sync! Otherwise it was nearly a epic document!
on the dictionary, under “brilliant” there’s the url of this reel
I remember as a 11 year old kid at the time being confused why the lead "singer" changed. Did we ever find out ?

who is the girl at 8:58? I love the joy and energy that she always showed in the KLF videos
That is Cressida Cauty (Jimmy's wife at the time) She was backing singer, coreographer and she also designed/made most of the costumes for the band.
@@Yungrexy Thanks for the answer, I love the way she dance full of energy in every KLF video

Cressida Cauty (Jimmy's wife at the time).
She was the KLF's costume designer, coreographer, dancer & backing vocalist.
Did you leave out the other Timelords appearance on purpose cos of Glitter's appearance in it? Note - not approving of any of his actions at all
