Does anyone know why the cartridge white bands breaks so easily and also the blue color plastics on top of each cartridge? The pressure reading 10 -11 PSI. I replaced them with real Hayward brand cartridge but same thing happened again. I so regret changing it from DE to Cartridge.
The two issues you describe lead me to think either the cartridges are older or there's a chemical issue. It should take much pressure or wear and tear for those bands to break for the plastic endcaps to deform. A chemical imbalance would be my first suspect if the cartridge is less than a few years old. How are you chlorinating your pool? Are you keeping the pucks in a chlorinator connected last in your plumbing? Or, are you dropping chlorine pucks in your skimmer or pump basket instead?
Make sure it was plumbed correctly. If the water from the pump is plumbed to the outlet of the filter it will break the bands and crack the top as the water flows backwards. I've seen this happen more than once.
