My friend got a vasectomy and they offered him Xanax for his nerves, I went to get an IUD and they offered me NOTHING for a highly invasive and painful procedure. It ended up hurting so bad I didn't go through with it.
edit: for context I was unable to properly advocate for myself unfortunately as I was younger and an anxious person. I didn't necessarily need meds but they did nothing to tell me about what the procedure would do and how much it could hurt. If they told me that I would have started with a different option.
I’ve had an IUD twice and I highly recommend taking ibuprofen beforehand. Before getting one in and before getting it out. It didn’t hurt a bit afterwards and I don’t have high pain tolerance.
I went for an IUD and the pain meds they prescribed me before were so daunting that I ended up not going through with it. It was like they were letting me know beforehand that it would be a horrible experience.
It really isn’t as bad as you think! It’s so quick and easy. There might be a little bleeding afterwards but I highly recommend it. But do what makes you comfortable. Again, I don’t have high pain tolerance and this was fine.
That’s just a bad doctor. It’s not a double standard. You should advocate for a better doctor. Most people aren’t offered Xanax
@@Pine_ViewThat’s YOUR experience. Certain factors make it extremely painful for other women. I don’t think you’re super educated on the risks and how it affects certain women. It’s not about high pain tolerance or not. It’s really fcked some ppl up!

As someone who works in anesthesia, I can tell you a man getting a vasectomy is 10 times easier than a woman getting a total hysterectomy. The hysterectomy is under general anesthesia and has a long recovery--robotic hysterectomies can even take 8-10 hours and have weeks of recovery. A vasectomy o the other hand is done in an operating room under sedation anesthesia--much like the medication you would be given for a colonoscopy-so you are not at all aware of what is going on. The surgeon injects local and we can give IV pain medications and anxiolytics so the guy won't remember anything. It's maybe a 20 min procedure or less and a recovery of a few days. The difference between the two procedures is drastic from a clinical perspective.
My robotic hysterectomy only took about 2 hours and I had everything removed
With a robotic hysterectomy you go home the same day unlike an abdominal hysterectomy you're kept in the hospital for a week or two
@@heddystgeorge3756 yeah, I had one and it was just a keyhole surgery. 3 teeny inch long cuts in my stomach and that's it's. I left my ovaries so it didn't effect my hormones and they just took everything else. Obviously that's extreme and I had other issues but hey, it worked. And I went home the same day and the pain was no worse than a bad period ache.
I know a hysterectomy is more drastic but everyone is different I guess.
I've had kids already and my periods have always been extreme and a giant problem so I was more than happy to get a hysterectomy and it was great then it covered birth control as well. They left my ovaries, took everything else. It was only 3 very tiny cuts, I barely had any pain and I went home the same day.
And it’s reversible for men
This is one of the most organic and natural feeling WWYDs. Just chatting in a barbershop.
Some of the best conversation happen in the barbershop. I loved taking my nephews to get their haircuts just for the conversations.

i dont feel comfortable as a woman getting my tubes tied so i can understand a man not wanting to get treatment either, so i'd never pressure anyone who didn't feel comfortable.
It's not as simple as that, though, is it? It's not like you're going to be going up to random men encouraging them to get vasectomies. You may be in a situation where if he doesn't want to get a vasectomy, you might have to stay on the pill which you may not be comfortable with either. You may get pregnant which neither of you may be comfortable with.
I'm getting one done soon no kids for me.
At least have one man !
@@dre6616 why? That's his choice. Don't encourage people to have children when they don't want to. It could turn out very badly for all involved. People have their reasons and it's stupid and disrespectful to advise them otherwise.
I had mine at 21 with no kids. The procedure was like sitting on a bike wrong and staying like that. I was about to barf the entire time. Then the next few days I couldn't get out of the car or go up and down stairs without a shock. Also the bruise on my ballsack was brutal. But that all went away and there have been zero side effects since.
Its not worth it brother, you never know what the future holds, you could be at your 50's and just finally want to have children, your current relationship could fall apart etc etc, there are so many other options than to disfigure your body with the possible accidents that could happen with the procedure
The women had to be on birth control for years and then carry the baby- i think he owes her
No
Yeah then she cheats on you or your children die now you have no bloodline to continue your legacy.
i agree that vasectomies are more ethical and better overall but it should be a private conversation between partners, its rude to be trying to force him in public
He owes no one but himself. And it’s equal responsibilities of both parties.
@@ayden958 This is a situational show to see how people react. This is not real life. Also, how is it rude to discuss medical procedures in public. Freedom of speech rules.
If you’re getting this procedure done wether man or women, get it for yourself and not for someone else. Not even your spouse, if it ends you got a body altering procedure because of someone else, not even a vasectomy is 100% reversible
yes exactly! i totally agree with your point. this is about consent.
Here is the problem, a lot of Dr will NOT approve for a woman to have it done becausr "what if your partner wants kids later on?" I want them out because of health risks and mental health complications but they still won't let me. They expect my future "husband" will want kids. I am over forty and have a partner who also wants them out, but because she is a woman they think I will have a husband later in my life.
If you as a couple don't want any more kids then both should do it and there will be no guilt.
The women had to be on birth control for years and then carry the baby- i think he owes her
And tubes tied is much more invasive
@@Emma-wm9jgnah
both are procedures and things can go wrong and then the mate that didn't do it then they can end up leaving and being like ok you figure yourself out, so both do the procedure or neither do one. condoms and other things exist, but it is up to whoever is comfortable with it, so think of it as a by yourself would you personally want more kids.

@@Hulachowdownnot really, most hormones are made by the ovaries and ruptured ovarian follicles, not the uterus, the amount of estrogen that the uterus contributes to make is significantly less than that made by the ovaries
There are so many side effects to hysterectomy besides “no periods”. It is a major surgery. You will have other symptoms of menopause earlier than usual, and it increases your long-term risk of pelvic prolapse. Unless there’s a medical reason, I wouldn’t get a hysterectomy for merely birth control.
Oh sure why not just undergo major irreversible abdominal surgery with a possibility of MAJOR complications versus a very simple potentially reversible procedure. Come on.
It is not solely up to a woman to prevent pregnancy. It infuriates me when people say "Well she spread her legs". Or if birth control fails suddenly everyone accuses them of doing it on purpose to trap a man because they "wanted" to get pregnant. Ridiculous.

Never been this early, so gladddd this show is back!!
Having your tubes tied can have some big side effects too, especially if you haven't been through menopause. However, it's not unheard of for a woman to get pregnant with a man who's had a vasectomy. That can really turn ugly, I just listened to a story about that a few hours ago. An engaged couple, the man had been sniped, but the woman still got pregnant, and the man decided she must have been cheating, didn't even talk to her about it, and dumped her. Then when she was far enough along, they did a paternity test, and the baby was his. He wanted to take her back, but she was really hurt he trusted her so little (though she could understand where he was coming from), and wasn't sure if she wanted him back. In this day and age, it's a tough situation to be in, I have no doubt.
For males it's called andropause, not menopause.
@@x-dusk3137 Thanks for the info, I didn't know that! But I was referring strictly to women in that sentence. I've never heard of a man getting "their tubes tied." Men have a tube there, but it's usually snipped, not tied.

The lady is so on when she say black women come in the hospital and don’t come out and it’s really sad and something needs to be done about … I felt that in my soul. We are often misdiagnosed or even ignored and the doctors tell us to just go home take a Tylenol or you will be fine or say something else and we end up not waking up the next morning it’s sad.
Can you explain this more, I really didn't understand what she meant, like we don't come home?
@@Marieq no lmao side effect of pregnancy, idk what they are schizoing about but if you live in the west you have a 0.0204% maternal morality rate, nothing to worry about it, you're more likely to get into a plane accident than die from childbirth
i mean they both equally have the right to protect their bodies and surgery is scary even if it ain't on a special area like id just limit how often you sex
Finally a comment that agrees with my stance! Whether it's better or worse than a birth or having tubes tied isn't the point. NO ONE should be guilt-tripped into getting a surgical procedure done on them they aren't comfortable with...! I hope there are non-surgical options available that work well to prevent pregnancies so couples can weigh that too.

The DOCTORS 👨⚕️👩⚕️🩺often recommend that a man should do it because it has little to no side effects for a man...compared to a woman who suffers and then her kids suffer and then the entire family gets disrupted!! YOU DON'T WANT THAT
Fun fact, if you take birth control pills for over 5 years it increases the risk of cervical and breast cancer. 2 of the most common cancer's in women. Not to mention it also increases the risk of blood clots, a young woman died from blood clots in her lungs due to birth control pills and she was only on them a short time.
Luckily for me I've been on them 7 years (every day for 3 months then a 7 day break as my gyno suggested) because I don't want kids, as he said, no periods, no babies) but I haven't had many side effects, maybe some weight gain but that's about it. I've gotten lucky the pills I'm on agree with my body, some of them don't and can do awful things to a woman's body. Of course just because I have no effects now, doesn't mean the cancer won't come before in 40. (It is genetic in my family)
In my opinion this is too TMI to talk about this topic in public
1) yes men and women are responsible for preganancy but a man shouldn’t feel pressured just like a woman shouldn’t

This is something that should definitely be discussed in the courting stage imo. I personally would never be with someone who would not be on board with vasectomy or at least condoms forever (if they didn’t want vasectomy) and then abortion pill if there was a slip up.
I admit I'm too scared.
Am I the only one who feels like these new episodes are MUCH shorter than previous scenarios? I feel like we get a few snippets, and then it's over. And these topics are kind of weak. The scenarios used to be more hard-hitting while these new scenarios seem rather meek and mild.
The format has also changed. They are now engaging surrounding people much more than they ever have, asking them to enter into a conversation about a certain subject rather than allow the public to choose whether or not to "get involved." I understand that engaging directly with strangers helps facilitate a dialogue about a certain subject, but it's so contrived at that point - it's no longer spontaneous. And then to have the celebrity guests come out to the crowd and talk to them afterward - it's so controlled now. Polished. It's no longer, "What would you do?" It's more, "Tell me what you think about this or that."
I, like many of us, have been WAITING for WWYD to come back after the pandemic, but so far I am disappointed.
