I have to give Chris Pine credit: he went for the singing with gusto! And he was just part of the cast, doing parts and having fun.
Who could blame them? It’s catchy as heck.

They went to all the trouble of getting those accurate costumes and sets....for a two minute sketch?
More than worth it.
They had children in the sketch, very strict rules from the Screen actors guild about how long kids of a certain age can be on set, that probably explains it.

It kinda makes me sad they so faithfully recreated this set for such a short bit, I hope they bring it back.

I would have loved to see a five-minute sketch where they ask the Gumshoes about Kellyanne's various "alternative facts" before finally declaring "Fuck it!" during the bonus round. As it is, this little thing gets the point across--"Where is she? Who knows? Who cares?""--perfectly well. But there's _so_ much more they could've done with this.
I agree. I know that the brevity was part of the joke, but still. Most of their sketches wear out their welcome after the joke is established, but this felt way too short, especially since you could tell that the cast was all really into it - especially Sasheer, who's clearly having the time of her life channeling the late great Lynne Thigpen.
They could have had at least one clue about Bowling Green or microwaves before the kids quickly realized they really didnt want to find her afterall.
Cause of this I really want a reboot of the game show now as this was spot on right down to even The Chief!
I don’t care if this was only two minutes long, it was worth it to hear the cast sing the Carmen Sandiego theme, that’s a friggin bop 😂

Most of the writers likely grew up with the show. What they were looking for was seared into their brains. But the detail shows a lot of commitment for sure.

I don't know who recreated this perfect set or wardrobe, but they all need a raise. This sketch brought some joy to this '90s kid's heart. Bravo!

I remember the Carmen San Diego show and thinking that they weren't gonna go there then they dropped the punchline (being Kellyanne) and I lost it. lol

If PBS rebooted Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, they should definitely hire Sasheer Zamata to play the chief. She looks and sounds so much like Lynne Thigpen from the original series. Greg Lee would reprise his role as the host, and Rockapella could come back to do the music. It’d be just like old times! Please PBS! PLEASE BRING BACK THIS SHOW!

The PBS shows of my childhood were awesome. *Where In The World Is Carmen San Diego?*, *Bill Nye The Science Guy*, *The Magic School Bus*, *Ghostwriter*, *Shining Time Station*, *Square One*, *Reading Rainbow*, *Lamb Chop's Play-Along*, *Mister Roger's Neighborhood* and so many more. Not only were they all fun to watch, but they were educational as well. Talk about going down memory lane.

Perfect! SNL has an issue with taking amusing ideas and beating them to death, but this one left me wanting more instead of just praying for death. 10/10.

Oh man, this was the perfect recreation of the original show/intro. I wish they went a little deeper instead of the punchline coming so quickly. Light up the map to show her last known whereabouts (in the oval office/may be missing legs) etc. That's a whole lot of set and set-up for so little. Loved the reference!
SNL sometimes drags on skits too long. I appreciated the quick punchline here. Unexpected, and that much funnier because of it.

OMG, I was just thinking about this show the other week. Either Hulu or Netflix should pick it up. I would love to watch the old episodes. "Where in the World is Camen San Diego!" I thought they were going to do a live action movie and Jennifer Lopez was going to play Carmen. I guess that fell through.

Lynne Thigpen who played The Chief passed away on March 12, 2003 from cerebral hemorrhage. RIP :'(
