Heretic and Hexen are one of few "DOOM clones" that I enjoy to play, besides Duke Nukem, Marathon and Dark Forces. Other clones are boring and they lack originality.

Why don't you use UI hud? You would know a lot more about how items(ammo, health) work. ;)
