I lived there from 97-99!! What an amazing view we had!! I miss hanging out with all of my barracks friends for sure!! Thank you for this! That last door you looked at was my room!!
I lived in the original barracks from 63 to 65. 2 years, 8 months. We had no A/C !!!! These barracks were in the Bundy Area right across from chow hall. It was great duty. Got there at age 20 an departed right before age 23.
Thanks for watching, yes those in the bundy area are still there and I will cover them soon. I do have a video on the Chow Hall in line to release in about two weeks.
Thanks Sammy for the upload. Brought back memories for me also. Hanging out along those railings with friends, sometimes all night. If we were off the next day we would sometimes sit there all night talking and watch the sunrise. And you were right, you see one room, you've seen all of them. I hope you got to see Rosey's bar that was on the way in there.
I was stationed here and worked the night watch dury here as an MS . One was a female barracks . There were 3 total here . There was also a transient barracks across the street. A hospital barracks by the hospital and Bundy barracks . I was stationed here for 4 years. My son was born at the hospital in 1985.
I was there in early 90s this is the permenent barracks up by Rosie’s you can tell by the heads in each room the temporary barracks were the ones down the hill away from the harbor next to the galley they had one head for 3 rooms on each side the middle building had a convenient store movie room thanks for the video definitely took me back
To me it looks just like the room I had in 1983 in the BEQ. Thank you so much for giving me my memories back. I only wish someone would restore all of the base. I know I’d come to visit.
Thanks for watching, it seems as they were called so many names at different times there is no right or wrong name for them. But I got a nice map from a former Navy person which has this name in the description.
The barracks that you went into in this video seems to be where my mod was. I walked out of my mod and my view was the bay. The setup was exactly how my mod and room was. What a great memory. I was there from 86 to 88
I was right behind you. I arrived in October of 84. Miss it with a passion. Puerto Rico was something else. Turning an 18 yr old loose on such a magnificent place ruined me for life (in the best way).
Yikes that was close then! Thanks for watching and I am glad you got to see where you lived some time ago. Hopfully it brought back good memories of your time in the service and in PR.
@@spvideo68 I survived Hugo! It's sad to see the base in such disrepair. It would be nice to see it redeveloped and put to good use. Do you ever visit Vieques? I was assigned there for a few months. I'd love to see what it looks like now.
I lived there after you!! 97-99! Really moved me to see and reminisce on the games of asshole played in the MODs with all of my shipmates. I’m not crying. You’re crying!
Too cool Sammy. The building you were exploring was the Men's BEQ. The one directly across was female and the smallest building in the back and at an angle was mixed. I lived in MOD 203 B. Weapons department occupied Mod s 203 and 204 in 1984/86 when I was stationed there. Wish there was a way to send you some photos of how it use to look like. The view of Vieques was amazing from the balcony just outside out Mod. Those were great times. And I was proud and very lucky to be stationed there right out of "A" school. I truly didn't want to leave that island. But the alure of the USS Nimitz pulled me away. Anyways Sammy, once more, you're awesome. Good speed brother.
Hi, glad that you liked the video and thanks for the extra info. You can contact me via FB Messenger I am in the Roosevelt Roads groups if you are in any. Otherwise you can email me at simplepr@yahoo.com.
weapons represent!!! I was part of the team that cleaned the mags out for base closure. So much time counting and recounting shit in 207 and 300 because inventory didnt match our counts. We literally counted all the loose rounds in 300 like 5 times because the count was always off. Of course it was off... half the mag was open boxes of small arms ammo! plus all the time sweeping bat shit out of 301 and 302 because they were endangered and couldnt be removed. It was literally a powder and after a year of doing it medical was like "uh, it cases cancer. where are your masks?" Did we get masks after that? nope!

Thanks for watching, great to hear that it brought back some memories.
That’s definitely the permanent barracks I was mentioning in your previous video. Unbelievable how much they have been taken over by nature
Yes, they are covered quite a bit. Thanks for watching.

I believe these were the new barracks which opened up in late 72 early 73. We all had to move up from the Bundy barracks
Yes most likely thanks for watching.
Hola Sammy, Gracias una vez más.
De nada, gracias por ver el video.
@@spvideo68 A la orden Sammy.
Thanks Samy🎉
Thank you for watching!
WOW, this brought back some memories.
Glad you liked it and thanks for watching.
Wow! You almost walked into my old room! You went to the left, my room was on the right in that "Mod". I lived there 1989 and 90.

@@carlstaiger3054 I have not gone to Vieques and I am not sure if Camp Garcia or the OP are accessible.

I served there from 81-83. Great duty station. What a shame, at least I was part of history.
Did they build a new “Chow Hall” near these new barracks ???
Acros the street from those there is a chow hall not sure how new or old it is.
