    This is exactly how I created my pattern. 🥰 I take pictures with my iPad, and I post them to my Instagram so I have copies of the progress.

    I am so glad I stumbled on your video. I started crocheting 2 years ago and I have become so serious with it. In recent time, I have been obsessed with designing my own pattern. I will really love to be one of your testers.

    Appreciate hearing someone else who isn't a math person writes patterns. I am not a math person at all and beginning to wonder if it's possible for me to do patterns. I love drawing and painting and feel I'm very good creatively, but I've never been a numbers person. But I think if I can get a rhythm down and hone in my ADHD I can do it.

      it helps to actually know how to crochet and use patterns before writing them. :) I hope you are able to figure out a way to be creative with crochet.

    I just had to send feedback to a company for a pattern I bought that had many errors that you just talked about here. I appreciate it when a pattern is written well. I do enjoy math and I could correct the majority of the issues just from experience but I expect more from a paid pattern even if it is part of a kit. If that is the only way to get it, it is a paid pattern and should be tech edited. Thanks.

    Can you make a video about size and right lenght of straps???

    • @HappilyHookedMagazine
      @HappilyHookedMagazine  3 года назад

      Hello! When it comes to lengths of straps, that varies greatly depending on the cut of the top you are making. Is it a higher neckline, v neck, boat neck, etc. That is all personal preference dependent on the crochet designer.

      Not that I know of but Crafty Yarn Council may have something (they are the standard for all body measurements in crochet garments.)

    So, here is a quick question. I found a snowflake on you tube and thought it would make a great center for a mandala/doily. I have it created and wrote down the steps. Can I sell it or not? If I start doing this, I want to make sure that I am doing it the right way. Thanks for your help.

    • @HappilyHookedMagazine
      @HappilyHookedMagazine  2 года назад

      If you took someone elses' pattern and changed it, it is still their pattern in my opinion. Honestly it really depends on if you created something that looks similar or if you took the pattern and adjusted it slightly (making it bigger or smaller, etc.)

    • @lorapills5275
      @lorapills5275 2 года назад

      @@HappilyHookedMagazine Gotcha, half mine and half the other persons, still can’t sell. I will chalk that one up to experience of making a snowflake and creating a mandala. I appreciate your time and love what you do.💙

    Thank you for all the tips. Would you say is a good practice to give credit to the original creator of the pattern but still create one and share it with others with modifications that you made due to being easier for beginners?

    • @HappilyHookedMagazine
      @HappilyHookedMagazine  2 года назад +3

      I have seen others show an example project they made, and state where the original pattern can be found, then give some "tips and tricks" of a few modifications they made to that project. But sharing the actual written instructions of someone else's patterns is not ok. Making minor modifications to that pattern does not change their design significantly and so sharing that would be a copyright violation.

    I created a pattern today accidentally but how do I know someone else hasn't done it already?

    • @HappilyHookedMagazine
      @HappilyHookedMagazine  3 года назад +4

      I tend to type in key words to ravelry/pinterest to see if someone has already made something exactly when I am designing. "Front Post Double Crochet Beanie" or something like that and then just a quick glance to see if the hat matches. BUT, imo, if you designed it without using anyone else design as a reference, it's yours.
