The BMW M cars have always been aspirational, about standing out. The big-body Alpina cars have been about being UNDER the radar; the exact opposite of the M-cars.
@@mikeamizzle no, they make stereos. Alipna. They ha d build the engines and have them installed on the same line as the BMW counterpart and then are returned to Alpina for finishing.
Hi guys. As a vehical enthusiast from Liverpool I must say. Tommy you understand Alpina way more than you dad. They make tme ultimate Grand Tourer. They make the best of comfort: space: luxury: handeling: performance and all round ability than any other manufacturer Full Stop. The only problem with Alpina is they only use BMW which are not the best looking cars in their classes.
Did you know that the different aero parts are even tested in wind tunnels for their effect on performance? Not only visual with the Alpina lettering - also functional...
Beautiful car; I still don't understand why BMW has to put those massive grills on the M3/M4's when they clearly know it would be much better looking if it had the grills from these cars. Are they trying to lose sales? Sometimes a trend isn't worth following...
I've seen a few video comparisons of the M5 vs B5, and the M5 was marginally quicker (I mean virtually unnoticeable) while the B5 was a step up in terms of luxury. I'd imagine these are similar. So I'd imagine it comes down to: do you want the rawest form of a luxury sedan, or a more plush one, that's still quite fast when it needs to be?
I don't see the need for all the touch screens in modern cars. Fair enough for all the young kids who can't live without it but I much prefer analogue dials and the I-drive I have in my 5 series. I have blue tooth to connect my phone so I can play my deezer. BMW haven't rushed into the modern look which I think is a good thing. All these large screens look great but I wouldn't probably use 90% of what's available...seems the passenger would have more use for it.
Interested comment that Alpina is into "grand touring" cars not performance? Is that 100% accurate? Alpina made its reputation as a company that modified and raced BMW-based cars in many of the European GT (grand touring) racing series in the 1970s - 90s. So, yes grand touring but they have always also been into enhancing the performance side of grand touring. Used be able to buy upgraded Alpina parts for a BMW -- same with companies like Schntizer.
This video showed me a side of Roman and Tommy that I had seen hints of but not to this level - their lack of knowledge about anything but off-road vehicles. They should probably stay in the (fast) lane, and stick to telling us about Jeeps and Broncos.
It’s more or less made for luxury with a twist of sport imagine it as a baby Rolls Royce with a sportier edge the Alpina B7 is right under a Rolls Royce Ghost in terms of luxury and sportiness
its a shame how watered down Alpina has become. Why do those Alpina wheels have valve stems like normal wheels? Everyone knows Alpina uses a hollow spoke to bring the valve stem behind the center cap. You wouldnt see this in the mid 2000s
I can hear all the Armenians in Glendale rushing to the dealership to drop their cash. More hairy kids racing down the 5, 210 and 134... Great. I can see the crashes already.
Alpina is not a Tuner!!! You should know better as a professional "Tester"... @Jake Salah: If you ever drove an Alpina, you wouldn't say so. I drove a Ferrari Roma and it is a beautiful car - no doubt. But as a daily driver, an Alpina B8 is the best on the market right now. And I call one my one.
Being an EV guy I must say the front end is quite an improvement over the ugly oversized kidney grills of their other models. The gas guzzling, asphalt crushers like this beauty are probably going to be seeing the end of of tunnel sooner than later. Great review.
That’s what makes it spectacular. The politically correct end of the world/sky is falling Europeans haven’t ruined it just yet. We will all be stuck in golf carts soon with insufficient electricity to run them and saluting a dictator somewhere who will decide who can drive.
If I want the thrill of an EV, I'll take my Miele vacuum cleaner for a drive. Part of the excitement of driving is the sound- now it just sounds like a blender making margaritas. Sure, the acceleration is great, but it'll take you a week to do a drive that takes two days now. Not to mention the strain on the electrical grid, and the larger damage to the planet mining the materials for batteries. I loathe the day the climate alarmists who don't understand the cyclical patterns of the planet and listen to middle-school dropouts about climate change get their way - we are all screwed when that happens. And yes, I acknowledge that it's coming.
@@Welcometofacsistube you may not have noticed as Tesla yesterday attained a $1 trillion market cap - a rarefied level previously reached only by Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet - thanks to a roughly $4 billion deal to sell 100,000 vehicles to the rental car company Hertz. The best part is that, apart from reducing environmental pollution, EVs can lower oil import by about $60 Billion by 2030 and will be 25% of the market, 70% by 2040. By 2030, BMW said approximately half its global sales will be battery cars. ICE vehicles are quickly becoming the dinosaurs of transportation. Alpina is actually automobile manufacturer, in contrast to other performance specialists which are aftermarket tuners.
...you can compare it to Brabus, but Alpina is working very close with BMW. Still it is an own manufacturer 👍🏻

‘Blurple’. 😂 Dad still has sense of humor. Love it.
He will never be too old
Love the color on the car. Absolutely beautiful.
More badges than my Ford RS I used to have lol. I love the color and doesn’t sound that bad.👍
Alpina is actually a stand-alone car company. Stunning car.
you thinking of Alpine?

Alpina...possibly the best cars ever made! The one I live the most is the Alpina B10 6 cylinder 3.3. (E39)
Love how it still has the Normal grill
Never been a fan of BMWs, but the first gen 8 series was pretty amazing
Beautiful car! Love the sculpted exterior, love the color. Excessive? Absolutely. But done with nice style and detail.
I think TFL has given us the most Alpina variants in review , super super super beautiful I mean wow ... astonishing .

Great Backseat 👍🏼
The recliners & the Console with amenities!

Yes, but was the dashboard made from the beaks of a thousand eagles?
Alpina is not a BMW tuner, Alpina is an automotive manufacturer. Each Alpina's car has Alpina VIN number with BMW VIN strikethrough
stunning car!
That hood pop sound was soooo nice!
Alpina actually is an official, registered car manufacturer, not just a "tuner". Just like RUF isn't just a Porsche tuner.
Only in Europe, not in the USA. In Europe Alpina's get a new VIN number starting with WAP and not WBA and they get a unique production number.
IMO, this is what the M3 and M4 should have looked like.
Nah design looks dated m4 looks modern and gets looks from everyone
Oh I'm sure the M4 does get looks from everyone and not because it's beautiful.

Alpina’s special touch, as always !
I hear some interior creaks. Well the interior build quality is unfortunately going to be usual crap.
I like the blurple. You two are great hosts
Blurple....Made me laugh! The color is really fun. Tired of Black White and Gray. Awesome car - My favorite current 4 door.
What a lovely daily driver! 🤣 Beautiful interior!
For that price I would get the Plaid MS.
Somehow the New Jersey plates are very appropriate for that car. Probably some Sunday gravy spill marks in the trunk. Do the turn signals work? 🤔

The steering wheel looks like it swallowed a smaller steering wheel 😂😂
