We bought a fixer upper Manufactured home for $60k. Fixed it up and sold it 10 years later for $270k profit. Moved to a cheaper state and paid cash for a house 👍🏻
Just discovered your channel. Really love your philosophy. You're doing exactly what I wanna do which is to buy something all in cash. Curious where did you settle in US? Thanks again for your sharing your journey with us. Cheers!!
Seeing you're doing roof work, make sure that the wood underneath in the attic in back is dry before you seal the roof itself. Products like quick seal work too well and any trapped moisture inside the roof area will begin to migrate downwards to your ceilings and walls. Sealed a large wood built dome with elastomeric roof seal and trapped moisture started dripping out of the ceiling. Looks beautiful where you are!
Interesting video! Nice little home--smart move you guys, but then we expect nothing less from you two. Really looking forward to seeing the progress on that cute little home 😊
Inspirational - A few months ago I would not say that. BUT ....I started to work in a non-profit org. that helps elderly people 75+ I help them with their finances - going through the mail, helping with bills, reacting to fraud - so many fraud. But the most important thing I learned that changed my POV - those are people who did well in their lives, they did what they were told, they have a decent SS payment, maybe investment income, long care insurance, but in most cases, it is not enough to sustain their living. They have to cut down to a bare minimum and then some. Since then my view of my older years has changed.
That roof looks very nice, actually! Wouldn't be in a hurry to replace it (I'm in the same boat...would love a metal roof, but the existing roof is perfectly fine...better to put money into an addition, or a pool!
main first fix=roof...now we need hvac and internet. now pull down all drywall and doors and flooring. tractor out the entire lot. use a homedepot card if you have to.
lol....believe it or not there is already a central heat (heat pump) system in this old house, the vents are tore up in the basement and need replaced. We got the Internet the first week we were in the house and it is so much better than Mexico's internet. Unbelievably fast.
You went abroad when it was frugal to do so. Now living abroad is out of your system. Lucky your men are so handy. Can’t wait to see the finished product
Congrats both of you... Looks like this will become a wonderful home for you 🤗 Remember a rocking chair Frank... In my imagination you are sitting there, reading stories for your grand children 📖📘🤓🌹🤗🌹
Would be interested in knowing the general location you chose. I shared b4… that I chose Eastern Shore of Virginia. Good area with lower priced fixer uppers. General Price point in this area 50 to 150 k.
thanks for sharing your knowledge with us terrestrial trapped creatures. greatly appreciate your time to produce and share these videos with us. excellent deep woods area too. that's holy spirit country. deeper the nature the lower the matrix frequency and grip/pressure. nature is alive with positive energy. nature will fill your souls and spirits with life force food. May the holy spirit bless you and your family always. arch Angel Michael be by your side always. 🙂
It’s all relative. You can live on very little and not enjoy many luxuries. I have lived dirt poor growing up, but now have a comfortable life. I know, though, that I could survive on a lot less!!
We are actually looking at "dead towns " in Kansas and fixer uppers. We live in Wichita and housing prices are getting close to Colorado prices unfortunately.
I have lived aboard the last 13 years or so too, along with you guys but in Colombia, PY, and CHile. I'm not willing to go back to the US iwth the geopolitical siutation playing out as it is, the US possibly conscripting men to go fight in Ukraine, etc, and then ther is the issue of healthcare, what do you do if you get sick there in US? I am healthy so don't worry about it too much, makes it eassy to foregt that huge expense in US. I agree that housing and food costs, utilities, etc are now more similar around the world than great values in ofreign countries, inflation has rien sky high everywhere, incudiing real estate, but healthcare is one big things that still is way, way overpriced in the US. Not to mention yo cant just walk into a pharmacy and buy $2 antibiotic or other medicne directly, int eh US you need a preseciption form doctor(expensive), and to get that you need an appointment ahead of time, who wants to sit around sick two weeks waiting to get into the doctor? Hope you guys stay healthy, that is one big expense to consider.
That's why you buy a cheap house. We can do what we can to alleviate risk such as buy a house where historically speaking there is no flooding, tornado's and hurricanes. but life has risks, your house still might get flooded out and ruined. God forbid. Now you can either keep complaining and not enjoy your life because life has risks or you can make choices that will help you and your family alleviate risks that would affect you such as storms. Eating donuts and french fries and smoking will also take you out! The point is we can do something about risk in our life.
@@HMFamilyLife I’m just stating facts to consider, I built two homes , sold one and own mine outright. Yet of course property taxes ,which is theft. Oh and don’t forget Covid clot shots that take you out.

Are hurricanes and flooding a concern?
