I have been binge watching sushi vids lately and yours is one of my favorites! It makes me sad when people only order sushi and not take any from the belt since isn't that half the fun? I also liked how you tried new things! That made me happy. Great job.
I’m glad you enjoyed my video! There wasn’t that much on the sushi belt while I was there. The place gets really packed, and it depends where you sit. You either get everything that comes out or just the left overs. So half the time I end up ordering from the screen.
Great review...by far the best of Kura. You really go in-depth on almost every offering.
Hey thank you so much for that! I am actually now living in Bangkok Thailand. I moved here a week ago. I’m gonna be bringing lots of local food, travel and adventure content. Be sure to subscribe and you can also follow me on Instagram or post daily stories @lifewithsergey
Awesome video. Very informative. Kura Sushi just opened up in San Antonio, heading there for a late lunch today. Your video was perfect in showing me what to expect and how to navigate the touch screen & conveyor of sushi. Thanks much. I really enjoyed your video! 👍
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and have fun at the new Kura! I’m heading over to Thailand in four weeks and I’ll be traveling throughout Southeast Asia making food, travel and adventure videos. Stay tuned for lots of fun stuff to come!
Enjoyed this!
Well done!!
Fun place! Thanks for watching Jacqueline.
Nice to see you back with a dining vid!
Yeah, Your comment on one of my other videos saying that you missed some of my food review stuff made me realize that I have neglected that. I’ll try to do a better job of posting balanced content.
Congratulations🥳 on your record breaking meal...fatty tuna 🍣, "tastey little balls," et all!! Happy to hear iced tea was your beverage of choice, not sugary soda 👍👍 Bonus points for nicely groomed Movember chops 🧔🏻♂️
Heya Lisa! Soda? Ewwww. Who would have soda with sushi? Yuck. Lol. Miss you guys!
I agree. Great place. Appreciated watching your video before going the first time, so I had the basic drill down.
I hope you enjoyed your visit there. Thanks for watching.
I’m excited to go to the Kura where I live. So I’m just living vicariously through videos til then. Also tamago/tamagoyaki is Japanese style omelette. Some are sweet and some are more savory. I do know there’s a variation that has kamaboko(fish cake you see in ramen) mixed in for a New Years dish I believe.
I think you’ll have a really fun time. Just don’t expect it to be the best sushi you’ve ever had. Lol
I remember being in Austin when that location opened, great to see a video on it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this just arrived here in SA so im hyped to check it out!
Oh yeah! I think it just opened actually. It’s not the best quality sushi, by any stretch of the imagination. However, it’s definitely a fun place to go. Definitely go try it!
I don't know who comes up with these rules about how to eat sushi. Dipping the rice first isn't a bad thing. I'm Japanese (but born and raised in Canada), been to Japan numerous times and when eating sushi, there's no 'rules' on how to eat it. In high end shops you'd eat it the way the chef serves it to you. In every other shop, you eat how you want to eat it. Great to see you out enjoying the food the way you want to eat it!
Thanks! I agree, enjoy your food the way you want to. Cheers!
There’s one in Carrollton, tx kinda far from Austin but same place essentially! I’m going on Sunday so I’m watching RUclips. 😂 you made me hungry!
He he. I hope you enjoy! It’s a fun place for sure. Thanks for watching Jacqueline.
I’m new to this channel and I just subscribed and also keep it up🙏
Welcome aboard Aaliyah!
The quality is A1 thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it Micah! Thanks for watching.
Cool video. Glad it popped up. They just opened one in San Antonio at the Quarry Market. I seriously can't wait to CHK it out now. I love mochi too. It's glutenous rice pounded into the smooth sticky texture. 😋
Yeah I knew they were opening up in San Antonio. Definitely go check it out. I’m actually now living in Bangkok Thailand. Got here last week. I’ll be making all sorts of food and travel content. If you like sushi follow me along!
@@LifewithSerg Now that's a change of scenery! Very cool. Also, I am addicted to sushi 🤣. So heck yeah. Can't wait to see your upcoming videos. Subscribed 👍
Awesome, thanks for the sub! First video will drop tomorrow. I’m also posting daily stories on my Instagram account @lifewithsergey
@@LifewithSerg Sweet! I'll def give a follow on your insta. I love food and travel channels. So much amazing, unique and sometimes scary street food to see.
We just visited the one in Carrolton, TX north of Dallas. Super yummy! 🎉wish we had good sushi like this in Amarillo
I miss that place!
Late comment, but I've always wondered what the tomago (sp?) was made of and never tried it. We're going tonight so I'll definitely give it a shot! I also didn't know Kura used real crab in their CA rolls, so I'll be eating some of that too.
Great video! Thanks!
Tamago is made from egg and I believe a little brown sugar. I don’t recall if I said that they used real crab in the rolls. Enjoy!
Great video! I love sushi too 🙌🙂
It’s definitely a fun place. Not the best sushi, but fun to go to.
IVE BEEN HERE LIKE 3 TIMES UGSHSGSUYGS AND THE FOOD WAS RLLY GOOD !!! HAPPY TO SEE THIS PLACE GETTING REVIEWED 😼😼😼
So good!
Sushi 🍣🍣yum....yes California does have great Sushi..miss it...🥰
There are some really wonderful sushi places here in Austin. I have to go try some of the higher end ones soon.
Tamago One of my favorites too.
I put Wasabi in my soy sauce too and dip my sushi in rice first as well. 🤣 it just falls apart on me when I try and dip the fish in.
Nice video
Love Tamago! I’ll be bringing all sorts of crazy food content once I move to Thailand next month. Follow me along! Thanks for watching Christine.
The eel roll looks delicious! I have never seen soy paper roll, I do not think we have that type of sushi in the Netherlands here, but I would love to try it ou!
That was the first time I have ever seen soy paper roll sushi as well. It was really delicious, very unexpected.
お箸の使い方が上手ですね。
楽しく美味しそうに食べているのを観ているとこちらまで幸せになます!
Sorry but I can’t read your language. Thanks for watching!
They are opening one of those here in San Antonio Texas in April up 2022
Yes! I saw that on their website. I’ll definitely have to come down there and check it out when it opens.
You do. Real good job dude
Thank you so much for that, Sasha. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
You've created art = "The Leaning Tower of Sushi Plates"
Right? I honestly could’ve eaten at least another five plates, but I just didn’t wanna put myself into an uncomfortable mode for the rest of the day as I was already pretty full. Lol
I worked at Kura Sushi this past summer, and I hate to break it to you but the "real crab" California roll actually does use imitation crab. They use this thing called "crab mayo" which is basically imitation crab mixed with mayo and some other ingredients. I was usually making nigiri but I also made some gunkan and seared nigiri, and I was also taught how to handle the noodle station a couple days before I quit. While I'll admit their food isn't terrible, it kinda makes me look at it from a different perspective since a good portion of the menu items I know how to make lol
That sucks that they use imitation crab in a row that supposed to be real crab. Kura definitely does not have the best sushi, not by any means, but it’s a fun place to go to
I am thinking of going here for my birthday party and you really did help me decide ☺️. Is it true that the booths can fill with a max of 6 people? That's how many ppl would be there but thank you for your help this is amazing!!! You made everything sound so good and i have heard so many good reviews about this place!!! Thank you so much
Emily, the booths will fit 6 average sized people. I hope yon enjoy your birthday there!
My favorite is the spider (soft shell crab) handroll
Their handrolls are a great bargain. I’ve never tried their soft shell crab because I’m just not a big fan of softshell crab. I’m happy to hear that you liked it! Thanks for watching Hayley.
Oh !! SUSHI 🍣 🍣 🍣 So delicious 😋
Yes! Definitely one of my top three food groups. Lol. Thanks for watching!
I think I'll save conveyor belt sushi for Japan where it's 1/3rd of the price. I like to go to Sushi Bomb near Pittsburgh (Cranberry area, if I remember correctly). One price, all you can eat off the menu sushi. You only pay extra for drinks and if you have leftovers. Very high quality sushi there, and for less than $20/person, people can really get a great deal.
I totally agree with you. There are much better sushi options around here. Kura is just a fun place to go to once in a while.
Thanks! Your video at least actually rly shows how it’s done .. I’m not a fan of videos that just moves too much or just shows you eating and doesn’t explain anything! Keep up the great work!
I appreciate that!
There is a Kura in Orlando not far from where I live and I definitely wanna visit one of these. Seems fun
Definitely go try it out. As I mentioned in the video, it is far from the best quality sushi out there. It’s just a fun experience.
Is it open yet?? I have been waiting for the Orlando location to open.
This location used to be really good when they 1st opened. The last time I was there about 6 weeks ago I was not all that happy with the quality.
Yeah, it’s not the best sushi. By any stretch of the imagination. It’s a fun place to go to once in a while.
I hope they build one of these in Cincinnati sometime. When I was in college in colombus they had one there but it wasnt Kura, dont know if its still in business anyways, but when it comes to sushi its definetly one of my favorite dishes! I will say though 2.85 for each plate?
I can normally find sushi places here in Ohio that are very good but about 6-8 dollars for full rolls. Most rolls being between 10-12 pieces. Sashimi normally goes for 3.50 for 3 pieces around here, and nigiri style is often the 2 pieces but they go for about 3.00. Of course at some of the shops, they offer deals when mixing and matching.
Still, if i could go to a sushi conveyor belt place again id do it just for a fun little time.
That’s exactly right. The conveyor belt places are just fine, it’s far from good sushi. And typically for what you spend there, you could go to a nice place and have much higher quality. It’s just a different experience.
well aren't you good withchopsticks‼️
it makes me happy when I see them eating happy and deliciously🥰🥰🥰
Oh thank you, I hold them a bit funny, but I’m very comfortable eating with them. Glad you enjoyed the video!
almost all wasbi is just green died horseradish so you were spot on with the taste lol. real wasabi will be ground fresh usually at the table. its also much more subtle not "spicy" the way horseradish is
Yeah, I’ve been too nice sushi places where they had real wasabi. The taste, and texture, is unmistakable.

@@LifewithSerg you seem like a cool dude. I subscribed. Hope to see ya get a solid following!
You should come down closer to New Braunfels and try Sakura in San Marcos off Aquarena Springs. Right before Texas State University and there’s one in Seguin off E Walnut St.
You know I was actually down there about two weeks ago. I walked into Sakura and looked around. They had maybe eight or 10 items at most on their sushi conveyor belt. I looked at their menu and it was mainly rolls and I just didn’t get a good feeling for the place so I walked out. Their all you can eat only included a handful of things and they charged extra for everything else. Just did not seem worth it to me.
@@LifewithSerg I enjoyed it, my family goes crazy for the restaurant. But I guess it’s not for everyone.
Oh my God how can you eat that all? 😃 not expensive, thanks for sharing your amazing video.
I can definitely eat! I’ll have another video coming out soon.
This looks so cool and a nice way to explore different sushi. However, what if you don't like something? Are you supposed to put it down the plate slot? What do you do?
Yeah, if you don’t like it, you can just put it down the slot. That is where all the food waste goes as well.
In Japan we call those tin badges Can Badge.
Ah yes. Can badge. I’ve seen that name used before.
I’ve had both Kura and Sushiro(biggest revolving suishi in Japan), so far I prefer Kura.
Ah good to know. I definitely plan on hitting Japan during my travels over the next year! I leave for Southeast Asia in 2 weeks. Follow me along for more food content!
I always think 15 plates is a bit too much to get the pon. I believe I ate less to get the pon in Osaka's Kura. I enjoy eating at US Kura though, usually order sushi via the tablet versus picking from belt, especially if i come in at an off-peak time. Their ramen are very salty on another note.
Yah their ramen is super salty. Won’t be ordering if again. Lol.
Tamago is not rice cake… also, ladies, salty balls are tasty. Mochi is pounded rice.
Yes I know I made some verbal faux pax during the filming of this video.
Mochi is actually a type of rice. They grind it up and make a paste which becomes a sort of dough.
Yep. Had a brain fade
@@LifewithSerg . I grew up in Austin Texas actually. My family moved there in 1969 and I just moved from the area five years ago to East Texas. Ate lots of great sushi in Austin over the years. I'm now jealous that they now have a rotary sushi bar. Always wanted to try one.
I highly recommended DK sushi and Seoul Korean restaurant there in Austin. I am friends with the owner DK. I used to come eat his sushi and he'd come eat my oysters.
I used to work the oyster bar at Captain Benny's Seafood Restaurant across from Capitol Plaza. Anyway great sushi if you haven't already tried them.
Sounds like some good places! I am not living, and making RUclips videos, in Thailand. Will try those out when I visit Austin next year.
We just got one in San Antonio!
I thought that opened about a year ago. Definitely go try it.
@LifewithSerg yup it did, finally was able to try it today too!
I don’t blame you for not turning the sushi on it’s side before dipping. The sushi at Kura is just laid on top plus their rice is very loose
Yah it’s not the best, but I do miss it.
Not a fun of sushi but does look real nice almost like art on a plate
Maybe I should give it another go
I would absolutely say give sushi another go. But don’t go to a place like this. Find a higher end place so you can have some really good sushi. This is a fun place to go, but if you were wanted to try meat for the first time I wouldn’t take you to McDonald’s.
Hey a tip for ppl that want to try sushi (again): As he said, go to a really good restaurant for the freshness and quality that you deserve!
Start with something without seaweed (I heard that’s what a lot of ppl don’t like) like salmon nigiri or if it’s the raw fish that you don’t like, try avocado nigiri or a roll with cooked tuna for example
And then try your way up to some avocado maki to get used to the seaweed and then some salmon maki etc.. And I heard that having some soda also helps (I am not sure why, maybe as a palette cleanser?!)
And try different sauces like soy sauce, spicey mayo, teriyaki dip!
And if you don’t like it, you don’t like it! That’s perfectly fine :)
These are just some tips I’ve heard over time and I am really hooked on sushi 😂🤌🏼
hows the taste? i would like to try it but its only located in texas and california :(
It’s just ok. Not the best sushi I’ve had, but fun.
You should put subtitles in Spanish, there are many foreign friends from Latin America who like this type of video, good video !!😊😊💕
I’m glad you liked my video. I can’t add subtitles for every possible language out there, so I choose not to put any subtitles at all. Thanks for watching.
is this place good for groups of 5 or more? the booths look pretty small
I’ve seen people do it, but it’s a bit of a tight fit. You could fit six people at one table if none of them are obese.
@@LifewithSerg thanks!
All that food looks delicious!!! Are you Russian? I’m assuming Serg = Sergey?
Yes it was very tasty! Yep, Russian born and you got it right on my name.
Sakura in San Marcos is another place with a conveyor belt style dining
You know, I went and checked that place out once. There was maybe six or eight things on the whole sushi built during lunch and it just didn’t seem that great to me. I ended up walking out and having something different for lunch. Can you tell me your personal experience there? I’m willing to give it another try.
I've always liked the place but most definitely go during the dinner time the menu changes after 4pm the crab balls are my favorite thing there
Aha. Ok good to know. Unfortunately, I am leaving Austin next week and I will be traveling through Thailand and Southeast Asia. I’m definitely going to be making lots of food content, so follow me along on this journey through Southeast Asia!
That's amazing I subed and will be watching more of your adventures for sure safe travels
What’s the name of your camera very good quality❓😩
I’m just using an iPhone 12 Pro. It shoots great video!
i did a converor belt once. it was AYCE up to an hour. i was seated towards the end of the belt. all of the people near the kitchen where the belt started got everything first. i barely got anything and complained and the japanese staff just giggled in their usual "I dont know english" sort of way. it was a terrible experience. i barely got to eat my moneys worth. would never ever go back to a conveyor one. i now go to AYCE where i can sit at the barr, talk to the chef and get a decent amount and my moneys worth. ps. this is in las vegas
Sorry to hear that. I never let them seat me near the end of the belt. If they do, I always tell them to seat me somewhere else.
I took some from the regular belt and ordered some directly.
2 in MA
😋😊
i love sushi
Yes me too! 😊
That “torro” did not look fatty at all.. it looked like regular tuna
Honestly it wasn’t fatty. It was just like regular tuna. Kura is more of a novelty and fun place. It is not a place you go to if you want high quality sushi.
Common mistake with wasabi and soy sauce. Never mix wasabi in soy. Lightly dip sushi in soy, wasabi is usually already swiped in the sushi by the chef. Add wasabi on the sushi for extra wasabi taste.
I’m well aware of this. Thank you for your virtue signaling, however I will continue to eat my food the way I enjoy it.
Nice quality work but FYI it’s never done that you add wasabi to soy sauce. At least it’s not how it’s done in Japan.
Yes I am well aware of that. Unfortunately most places in the US do not put wasabi between the fish and rice. Thanks for watching!
It's probably horseradish. Genuine wasabi is incredibly expensive and rare outside of Japan.
Yes of course. Everyone just uses the term in a generic way. Thanks for watching Robyn!
Mochi is made from sweet rice.
Yep, I just had a brain fart.
A roll guy
I prefer good nigiri over rolls, but will gladly eat both! Thanks for watching.
Well, I mean, If you want to talk about doing things wrong; you're not supposed to mix soy sauce and wasabi together. That's like mixing maranara and ranch.
Yes, traditionally you are supposed to put wasabi between the fish and rice and dip the sushi, fish side down, into the soy sauce. I am well aware of this. BTW, it’s spelled “marinara”, if you want to talk about doing things wrong. Lol
Wichai l love you and I go today haqqy
Thanks! Enjoy!
Tamago is egg, not a rice cake.
Yep. I made a mistake.
The "wasabi" used in the US IS horseradish with green coloring.
No one taught you how to use hashi.
Yep. I’ve had real wasabi, totally different taste and consistency. I’ve hit a few sushi spots that used real wasabi, but typically only the higher end places. Thanks for watching!
@@LifewithSerg Mochi is made with rice flour.
Yeah I’ve had it many times and I definitely know that, my mind just went blank while I was shooting that video. Lol
you should start watching korean mukbangers... they eat 100 plates and more!!! and mochi is made with rice... inside you can have many fillings, but mochi is made with rice. And your sushi's kept falling apart because they are not well made... or maybe you dip them too much in soy sauce!
Yes I know that my cheese made with rice, I just wasn’t thinking. And as I mentioned in this video, this is not the best quality sushi. The people that make the Mukbang videos eat so much it’s amazing!
Dude, it's a no no to dip the rice into the soy sauce, your supposed to dip the pice meat side down... but to each one's own I guess.
Yep I know that, I actually even mentioned that I was doing it incorrectly in the video. Lol. Old habits die hard. Honestly, if I’m at a nice place I will often eat sushi with my hands, as you’re traditionally meant to do. Thanks for watching Charles!
You never dip wasabi in soy
There are many different ways to do things in life. No singular way is particularly 100% correct, or 100% wrong. Thanks for watching!
Love the video but the way he holds his chopsticks makes me burn alive
He he. It’s just the way I’ve always done it. I learned long ago that there are many different ways to accomplish most things in life. Thanks for watching!
@@LifewithSerg BWAAHHAHAHA What amazing response. Made me smile. You do you man✊
Dont ever put wasabi in the soy sauce . Rookie move
Your name is literally Karen. So totally appropriate.
If your going to eat sushi, eat it right
Thanks Karen. Only 3,462,802,213 videos on RUclips where you can tell people how to do everything correctly. Enjoy!
@@LifewithSerg Trigger much , Kenny?
I’ve never heard of fish down… that’s not a thing
That’s actually the way you’re supposed to do it according to the Japanese. And they came up with sushi. Thanks for watching!
@@LifewithSerg I’ve never heard of that from anyone Japanese or anyone who lived in Japan.
Why is he putting soy sauce on it if already has sauce? He is conforming the individualism of the sushi rolls
Because he can. Lol
Dont put your wasabi into the soy sauce!
Yes dad
醤油は美味しいからといって、あまりたくさん付け過ぎない方がいいですよ。ライスに付けるよりネタに付けた方が好いと思います。
Yes you are correct, but I prefer it this way. 😊
