Same here. It’s very sad because I loved my job before my manager was hired. Then, as Lise said, I loved my new boss lady at first. She was full of promises and love bombing. She said, in front of everyone, I was her favorite! Who says that? Then she turned on me. Now my life is a living nightmare and I have lost 20 pounds because of the stress.

People will actually quit and it won't phase the boss one bit. Soon the boss will tell us they were just bad employees, and that is why they quit. Then maybe a day or two later the boss will throw a pity party, saying "I don't deserve this." "I work so hard and these people just quit on me."

Raised by a narcissistic mother and now dealing with a narcissistic boss one thing's for sure. I never repay evil for evil as the Bible teaches not to but rather take a much different approach. This narc-boss I currently deal with has realized if you want to play head games with a psychiatrist, be my guest. What he's learned about me is I talk without showing emotion or anger and become somewhat of a mirror that reflects is own incompetence right back in his face so he definitely doesn't want to tangle with me on a verbal platform. I've shown him in word and actions that I've set borders that I won't allow him to cross. One other thing that I wouldn't suggest to anyone because I don't know your situation but this guy can't stand to be taken with a "whatever" attitude or laughed at. But I will say that I refuse to stand there and take a condescending snarky attitude talking down to me when I'm 25 years his senior. My $.02...

A study by a british psychologist named Kevin Dutton about the top 10 professions that attract the most dark triad personalities had Surgeon, Ceo/leadership, Religious leader, media persona etc, etc.. which makes a lot of sense. being in control enables them to have their narcissistic needs met. They influence, control and receive narcissistic supply through admiration, conflict, chaos and praise at work. People who have a lot of dark triad character traits are also able to make tough decisions without much empathy, or regard for people's feelings. Narcissists also tend to have no emotional empathy when it comes to sabotaging for others to further their own corporate growth.

Pretty sure my boss was a narc. At the beginning he treated me like royalty, then he had me working in basically two positions at once claiming that I was “earning more money than everyone else”, only to find out people were getting more than me and doing less.
Not only, I was harassed (by customers and once by him) and he said it was “not that big of a deal”.
Things were going so bad in the work environment but he was putting us employees one against each other, and he would never take accountability for the bad things (it was always someone else’s fault), only for the good ones where he was celebrated like a god. Left and never looking back!

My Current boss is an overt narcissist. She replaced another manager when they left, it was about 3 months of bliss, I was her go to, and she stated that she would not be able to the work without me. But then that all changed. I challenged her on one item and that was it, now it has been two years of hell. As well it turns out that she is a misandrist, she really really hates men. So Im screwed. She has run out all of the other men in the unit and hire two women who are her minions. Anything I do or say, gets back to the boss. Sadly it was my dream job, but now I am looking elsewhere. This job was in Law Enforcement.

I live and work in the UK , recently I had a massive argument with a supervisor who didn't know well the processes of the job and she tried to tell me what to do because of her authority . I pointed out where she was wrong then she initiated a very vicious attack on me. Very aggressive attitude verbally to try to silence me. She even lied. As much as she will try push me out I actually want to leave the job.
When we identify an arrogant person, boss in our circle , workplace all we can do is distance, leave the workplace because ignorant people , toxic people don't change.

I e been in other workplaces where the N singled me out. We’re sweet as pie to everyone else. As a result no one else saw it and I came across as incompetent because they would sabotage me, or a bully and a liar if I tried to report them.

I’m 99% certain my ex was narcissistic, she certainly had all the traits you mention and treated me like crap.
This time last year I got engaged to my ex. A week after she’s talking to a so called make friend about her bedroom antics which I found inappropriate. I got accused of being jealous and she even said she didn’t even fancy the guy.
Long story short she ends the relationship 8 months ago with no real reason as to why. Iv had 8 painful long months trying to get over what I now believe to be narcissistic abuse. I’m doing ok recentky and then by accident I find out she’s now on a relationship with that very person she was talking about sex with..
I’m not sure how I feel. Not sure how I should feel. I still feel betrayed.. 8 months on and I’m Angry about the fact she’s now with this guy.. she told me she’s never loved anyone ad much as she did me…. Now she appears so happy with the guy she claimed she didn’t even fancy..
Why do I feel like this after 8 months? Is it even acceptable?
