Bernie your personal story is so moving, thank you for sharing a piece of queer history. Was recently in NYC for the first time and had no idea that was your voice in the subway stations!
I remember hearing her traffic reports on the radio. Glad she's in a place to be open about this.
Of course we have some uneducated meanies in these comments who do not love like Jesus did, just be aware that the vast majority of trans people just want to live peacefully. We can be out and proud without trying to convert your children. Your incessant jabs at our identities are the reason why we keep spreading our stories. Stay kind!

Why be mean? It's pride month so news outlets do gay stories. Kind of like they do African American stories in February, have you noticed?

Cher son calls himself a "trangender man". He transitioned from a woman to a man. It's not hurting anyone to call yourself that. It's not hurting you or anyone physically. It's your problem you can't deal with it. Even though I don't fully understand transgender people I accept them and respect them. They call themselves whatever they want and it's not illegal. When I add a reply, I wish it would appear UNDER the comments I'm responding to, not ABOVE, but anyway, it's interesting to see two ends of the conversation respond to my text at the same time. I wasn't being serious in my remarks. I was just saying what I thought a Liberal Democrat would say. "A trans woman IS A WOMAN. Period. Take out the 'trans'!"

My heart goes out to this person. I don't think this is honest journalism, though. There are some people who truly struggle with gender dysphoria and feel they are in the wrong body. What is hard to believe is the massive influx of adolescents who are transitioning because it is trendy or they don't want to deal with normal adolescent changes. Sadly most of the people who will be touched personally by this video will be the adolescents looking for some answer to their growing pains and not to the people past adolescence who truly struggle with this condition.
