Marc Lawrence famously known for the "hood" who threw Plenty O'Toole off the balcony and into the swimming pool in the film "Diamonds Are Forever". Thank you for archiving and posting.
Sid Melton improves every movie in which he appears. I forget the name of the film, but in one scene, sid, playing his cameraman roll, found a wanted poster for Sid Melton. Sid's a real b Crime movie superstar.
LOL. I totally disagree. He plays the same kind of superfluous character in almost all of them. I've never laughed once at any of his roles. I don't think he's the least bit funny or even necessary in anything in which I can remember seeing him. I always thought he must have had something on someone or was someone's brother-in-law.
The first time I saw Sid was in a movie called Hijacked. I saw it with my Mom when I was a kid He kept begging the boss to let him use a gun. When he finally got it he got shot and killed. Not knowing his name my Mom and I always called him "first gun " everytime we saw him in a movie. It was a long time before I learned his name. Lol. I always enjoyed his work.
I cannot stand him as he always plays the goofy fool for comedic effect. He plays this exact same role in movie after movie. I had to stop watching halfway through. He must have had some very good friends keeping him busy in Hollywood back then. Granted, we all have our own opinions and our own likes & dislikes, but this role he plays is quite tiresome for many of us. Edit: Actually, I would like to see how he would have performed in a profoundly serious role. Who knows? He might have been a considerable talent who got stuck in a slot that he didn't even want.
04:30 - Those are some really hodad horns stuck to the fenders of that poor '46 Chevy. Tack - ons from Pep Boys, or Western Auto, or perhaps J.C. Whitney mail order? 12:30 - For those who think there was no smog in L.A. of the 1940s.
This plot has more holes than those dirt roads. The reporters in this type of film are rarely very likable or smart, but this one treats his wife badly and is the worst sleuth I have seen.
It might seem like a movie about beef bootlegging was a strange choice of subject, but every red blooded American has a steak in the matter, whether rare, medium or well done. Sorry for that 😂 Just couldn’t help myself…
Two comments. None of those guys knew how to wear levies. They looked ridiculous. More like clowns 🤡 instead of cowboys 🐄. And secondly, I had forgotten how big those old cars steering wheels were. They looked more like wagon wheels. And steering them looked so funny. Took a lot of work. 😅😅😅😅
@mickeybitsko1676....That price does seem really high. I tried to read the fine print but all I could make out was the word 'large' and then 'EGGS'. Maybe it was for more than a dozen...hopefully a lot more than a dozen..!! I googled how much eggs were in 1949 and one article said 12 cents a dozen. Other articles said that post WWll rationing was still affecting prices and eggs were anywhere from 60 cents to 70 cents, depending where one was. I would guess that in the rural areas where a lot of people had chickens that a dozen eggs would be cheaper than in the city. So this grocery add could have been a real add. Interesting....I learned something new...!!
We have to run ads in order to pay the license fees to make the movies available, but they are supposed to be spaced out. I just looked at the movie and there was a commercial at the very beginning and no others, which doesn't make sense. Please let me know if you encounter too many commercials on any of our other movies.

Why did he wear the scarf covering his eyes when he was retracing the route? Couldn't he have done it just as easily with his eyes closed without the covering? Sid Melton was his usually annoying self and about as funny as a clogged toilet at a baby shower!
Interesting from start to finish. Thanks
I love a fun Husband/Wife Crime-stopping Duo!
Thank-You for uploading this!!
Marjorie Steele was VERY attractive and had a good screen presence, it is a shame she didn't do more.
Good movie! Very entertaining. Thanks for posting!

What producer in his right mind would ever think attaching sid Melton to the project would enhance the content value
Melton was a considerable talent ... Green Acres especially
The producer’s wife’s family forced him to hire their hapless relative.

Nice role for Whalen. Never got out of chair
Not a bad actor, but not really a dynamic character in any role.

In order to investigate a modern-day cattle rustling operation, a newspaper reporter and his girlfriend infiltrate the gang.

I love how the old time journos did all the police work back in the day. 😂

Don Barry owned the production company responsible for this film. Sadly, he later shot himself following a domestic dispute.

4:40 Is that a 48 Buick? It sure looks like one.
I think it's a Chevy. Man those horns are wild.
The bad guys are driving a Buick convertible. Either a 46,47 or 48. My Dad had a 46 Buick Roadmaster.
@@billhowes7937 Yeah, I was pretty sure that was what it was.
On second thought the reporter's car may be a Buick from 40 or 41.
It's a 1986 Stanley Steamer.

Have you never heard of "Ad Block for RUclips"? Works!

Eggs 55 cent. Before Biden IRA
eggs haven’t been 55 cents for 30 plus years take your stupidity and plug up a toilet
It was 1949, fool.
By the way, per usinflationcalculator, $.55 of 1949 would be the equivalent of $7.03 today.
