nope, i agree that arjun is not yet ready for battle, what we learned from arjun is how to build "composite kanchan armour" trust me, i have seen video some where in youtube which shows that arjun MBT can with stand shells fired from T-72 at a point blank range. The arjun's armour is best in its class.

T-90 is not a battle proven tank. and we have more t-90s than even Russians, chinese sabot or heat rounds (used by Chinese and Pakistan mil.) cannot pierce its armour unless they are less than 200 yards (that's for T80 & 90), Its accuracy is punching holes in suitcase bags from over 2500 meters. It has ongoing improvement which will turn battle fld into a game for Arjun.
Indian army does not have any war doctrine !! When they say that lighter tanks are preferred, the corrupt elements are bullshitting. Russia is for lighter tanks and the west is for heavy tanks. Indian army is somewhere in between !! Arjun is a beast !! It has got the firepower, protection, speed and air condition. Can't wait for comparative trials. 124 is a good number for an initial order. The numbers can go up for mark II version !!
Its time our politicians & army brains consider that arjun is one of the worlds most sophisticated and powerful tank true to its name.Instead of depending on other countries for imports & licensed production we should develop all weapons incl arjun in huge numbers within india and be self sufficient in even of any future wars especially with china.Our army should induct arjuns atlest a 1000 in number which will help us to withsatand any onslaught by china or pakistan.

In finding a moving target and firing with accuracy it scored over t-90. Arjuna was far better than mostly night blinded t-90. Earlier a sabotage was suspected in field trial and DRDO had to fit in a black box !! . It is a real shame for army high ups.
Argun tank is not a "failure".They did have major problems with engine failures and gun accuracy but were solved and during the winter 2008 trials they performed good and thats y army inducted 124 of them not more because they had already ordered T-90's. SriLanka never placed an order and neither did Malasia and Equador.Peru leased some for evaluations and btw the tanks meant to be exported arent Al Khalid but "CHINESE" MBT-2000's sold by China.

it is a big improved brutal machine from india that out performed russian t-90 and T-72. and its a tank 1 can proud of inducting it. the reason behind not inducting this marvel in the Armed forces is because the chunk of illegal money involved in procurement. though t-90 Still continues to be the Main Battle Tank of the Indian Army but u cannot overlook the improved performance of Arjun. it withstood the shot fired from a 125 mm cannon directly from a T-72. cheers

Also Indian army does not have night-fighting capability for their mechanized armour???You are correct somewhat as that original T-72's(ajeya mk1) do not have any thermal imagers or NV equipment but they already have been upgraded to Mk2(most of them) which do have upgraded optic suite so IA DO have night fighting capability.And the T-90-S's already have french thermals.And the older T-55 and vijayanta obviously dont have any NV but they arent anti-armour but support for infantry and reserve.
There was supposed to be a traning excercise between the Arjun vs the russian T90 but it was cancelled, why?? becos they knew arjun wud have kicked T90's ass. That was simply russian pressure on indian govt, not to conduct the test, politics!But respect russ is still our ally.
Sincerely requesting the Indian army to be sensible enough so as to accept The Arjun tanks which is a superior world class tank better than the Russian Armour .What I feel is that the Russians are influencing the army generals and the Indian generals are playing into the Russian hands. Arjun Tank been tested on deserts of Rajistan. Has Arjun been tested on India-China border Lands? Remember China is a Big Threat to India. Pakistan is attention seeking. Arjun has to be tested on snowy and mountain regions of india near the Border with china. This Tank must be able to take on T80 Tanks and Type 99 tanks used by Chinese Army. India might as well purchase Lepoard 2 Tanks from Germany, that tank will kick any tanks ass.
