    Thanks for the video ANIMAL.
    Dry beans, Lentils or split peas are essential for my budget diet. A fantastic high fiber protein/carb food. Furthermore, cabbage and frozen broccoli are very cheap vegetables.

    • @rafahernandez9624
      @rafahernandez9624 6 лет назад +1

      Bush league lentils/beans are not really a source of protein as it is incomplete protein. but it is a carb/fiber source

    • @howiewonderstud
      @howiewonderstud 6 лет назад +1

      @@rafahernandez9624 but, once you add those same beans to rice, it creates a whole protein... so what was an incomplete protein source, than transforms into a complete protein; fairly cheaply, too...

      Don't think its as simple that for maximizing/maitaining muscle gain while losing fat...

    • @Last_brain_cell555
      @Last_brain_cell555 8 лет назад +1

      @MightJoeYoung24 precontest diets are rarely similar, some athletes require high carbs, moderate protein low fat, or keto based; high fat, moderate protein, no carb, or low carb diets and cheat days, refeed days or meals ect ect, these elements are manipulated by the precontest coach on a weekly but likely daily basis if it is pro level. Likely at the elite level they cycle through different types of diets depending on the athlete and at different intervals as plateaus in weight loss are hit, such is the variance of such a diet that we could glean very little about purchasing on a budget from it.

    • @MightyJoeYoung24
      @MightyJoeYoung24 8 лет назад

      I just thought it would be a good idea and offer a new perspective. These videos are great but I wouldn't mind seeing how Dorian, Vincenzo etc. shop when they are going into pre-contest mode.

    • @Last_brain_cell555
      @Last_brain_cell555 8 лет назад +1

      MightyJoeYoung24 I think what you are thinking of is a "Day in the Life" or "Precontest Grocery Shopping with Evan" type series. The "Big on the Budget" Series focuses on athletes creating a realistic bodybuilding diet with a money restriction element added. Do you understand why that would not translate well to a precontest diet? And the idea you are referring to would not work in the "Big on a Budget" but on its own series?

    Hey Dorian, some great tips from you on buying bodybuilding foods on a budget. I work nights and always prepare 3 meals before hand. But I especially like the way you look for deals on lean meats by buying ground beef,and oatmeal on sale. And you had enough left over for peanut butter,some fruit and onions. I'm going to have to check out the supplements you use. I've been going cheap and buying Six Star protein,when I know I should higher quality protein that you use. Thanks man.

    I don't understand why people in these "big on a budget" series never get milk. Bodybuilders back in the day used to drink at least a gallon a day and there are a lot of grams of protein in a gallon of milk. You get a lot of bang for your buck. It cost Dorian $7.00 for eggs. Each meal is 5 eggs or roughly 30 grams of protein because each egg has 6 grams (they are large eggs so I am assuming that's how much protein is in an egg). You can get a gallon of milk for $3.00 and it has roughly 144 grams of protein. The cost per gram of protein is cheaper with milk. It's about $0.01 per gram cheaper but that adds up when you are talking about 250+ grams per day and only having $50 to spend for the week. Just saying. Love the series though.

      I agree milk is a great source of protein and calorie nutrition, but speaking for myself I am lactose intolerant and I just don't like the taste of milk (unless it's in ice cream). Maybe the same for some of these guys?

    6oz of protein for Dorian isn't realistic. All the meals r unrealistic for him. Except for the shakes of course. Animal protein must be free I guess. He simply made $50 work for the purpose of the vid. That's all. Thumbs down on this one. Every athlete buys the same food on these vids. BOOOORING!!

      I eat 6oz portion protein. I don't no why u think that's unrealistic. Only time I eat more is on contest prep diet when I lower my carb and fat intake I will
      Increase protein slightly to say 8oz or so.

  • @hiitztroll1548

    Evan’s is the only one of these that’s actually good information. Because he stands there and calculates for the most important variable which is water loss during cooking for the meats. Whatever he just picked up ground beef wise in this video might last a day or two at the most if he’s eating 6oz twice a day of ground beef. In frank’s video he picks up a roast that couldn’t weigh more than 1.5lbs. How the hell is that supposed to last a week? Anyway, love evan’s videos but these rest of these are useless.

    • @douglasmurphy3266
      @douglasmurphy3266 Год назад

      The advanced math mainly applies to commercial (cheap walmart) chicken breasts. Ground beef and turkey are pretty consistent, there is not a random amount of solution added to them. Dorian specifically says 8oz raw equaled 6oz cooked in this video. You can pretty safwly count on 1lb of ground beef cooking down to 12oz, but feel free to check your own yeild. With chicken, you need to subtract the added solution first. So if it has 20% added, 100oz of initial product should contain 80oz of actual chicken. Actual chicken should then cook down another 25%, so the 80oz becomes 60oz, so you've lost a total of 40% from the start. Checking your yield afterwards is a way to "audit" the amount of solution added to your chicken. You can skip this by buying the organic air chilled stuff for $10.00/lb, and it should only lose the 25% that real meat does. The cheap stuff is still a better buy even adjusted for the loss.

    Ive made decent gains on way under 1gm of protein per lb of body weight. A lot of people over eating these days imo. The important thing here is to set a budget and do the best you can. Dont take everything so literally here. Personally I hate all protein powders because ive never had any that Didnt taste a little like shit imo.

  • @hiitztroll1548
    @hiitztroll1548 5 лет назад

    The only one out of all of these fools who knows how to cook is Evan. You don’t throw raw onions into beef that’s already almost browned. You brown the onions first then add the meat. Your onions are still raw. Secondly, the comment about measuring meat raw. Why the fuck would you do that? 8 ounces of raw ground beef is not going to be 8 ounces once it’s cooked. Again, Evan is the only one who accounted for weight loss during the cooking process. You guys are clowns. Someone manages your diets for you.
