Carrying full sheets of plywood or other sheet goods is always an irritation to a woodworker. I show in this video a carrier designed to help this task that I built a few years ago - I didn't make a particularly good job of it as it was something I was trying out that I ended up living with. So now I've decided to make a better one, I should've done this earlier.
Wheels could be added, but unless you need to carry them a long way I don't think that would be necessary. I'm not especially strong and as I show in the video it's possible to carry a full sheet of 3/4" plywood quite a long way.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

This is one of the best "woodworky" type channel out there.
Thanks Ramiro - glad you like it! :D
Ramiro Borges I agree.
Ramiro Borges Agreed!!
That's a bloody good idea. I've seen store bought sheet carriers, but spending 10 minutes to make my own never crossed my mind.
Thank you Kuffy! :)
Simple, cheap (free ?), efficient, what is not to like. A big thumbs up and carrying a sheet of osb will now be so much easier and no splinters in the hand !.
love it! 100m plywood dash!! I can see a woodworker Olympics brewing!
Rofl...takes it for a walk...@PaskMakes thanks for the giggle...I needed it
Two laps! Crazy! I've need one of these for so many years.
Yep I was thinking the same thing but these are things you have to do to make a video ;)
I noticed that taking your plywood for a walk makes it relax and helps for better, cleaner and smoother cuts LOL
So I'm not the only one doing this! ;)
I have some 3/4 plywood to carry from the shop to the house and I sure do like your design. I think I'll make one before I go buy the plywood. Thanks for sharing
That ending was a good laugh. Nice project Neil
Glad you liked it Robin! :)
Looked like a good day for a walk... easier than a pet too as you don’t have to feed it or clean up after it and no surprise eggs on the lawn!
Much easier than a pet! ;)
Grouse idea mate, like the old days when people needed to improvise on how to get things done, nice second lap by the way, cheers cobber 👍👍👍
Thank you very much Sumo! :)
I give you A for effort. Loved the video + the humorous captions.
Great little build!!!! Doesn't take much time or wood to build and VERY VERY useful.
Always take your plywood out for a walk before you cut it's life up into smaller pieces. Got a good chuckle out of that part of your video. Thanks.
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it! :)
That’s a brilliant solution!
Mind blowing. Never even thought of something like this. 👏👏👏
I love it. Thank you for a good idea!
Nice, found this because I have to carry my sheet goods quite a ways. I just decided I going to clamp a set of wheels on one end and a handle like yours on the other end. I've a ramp to push up/pull down and a new dog pot-hole in the yard everyday. Thanks for getting the ideas to come together. Jim Y
Just perfect - will build one tomorrow!
Wow. That's a real "very simple and useful...and I never thought of anything like it." A huge help for me (back issues make it hard for me to handle a full sheet). Thanks very much. A real Father's Day gift!!!
No worries! I've had back issues (I broke mine 8 years ago) so any little help is good! :)
Maybe more of us should bring our 8x4s of plywood for a walk. It could help promote a better, deeper understanding of the product and help with bonding. Personally I think sheet goods are so miss understood. :) Thanks for the tip
You could be on to something Alan! :D
Not showing off... It's a well deserved victory lap :)
Thank you! :)
Thx! I've just built it this morning to move 8 sheets. Perfect!
Brilliant! Elegantly simple. Thanks for sharing.
Steve
No worries Steve! :)
Very nice design, a very cool shop tip !!!👍👍👍👍
Very handy! I need to make one for myself, thanks.
that wasn't a 2nd lap, that was a VICTORY lap!
Simply brilliant.
Good idea thanks for the share
And real cheap to make
That's awesome! Although I would need to make some platform shoes first to be able to fit a sheet of plywood under my arm ahah
Thanks Cris! You're right that is a limitation, I'm not that tall either so the board is only a few inches from the ground. ;)
I like that idea very much mate. Handy if you’re on your own 😁 great video Neil 👍🏼👍🏼
I usually give the thumbs up before i start watching a Pask Makes video - and again i was not disappointed! :) So small and simple and so handy.... :D
Thank you! :)
I looked through a number of videos for a DIY sheet carrier and yours is so simple, thin, and lightweight compared to ones I saw that were overbuilt, with 2x4's even, and awkwardly hard to use.
Thanks for useful idea!!!💯
Very good idea! as always!
La récup azimutée Amen!
That's a great idea! Work smarter not harder. Gonna need to make one now....
Thanks Ben! :)
Go Forest go!! LOL... great design my friend 👍🏼😊
Haha - thanks Marc! :)
Brilliant!
Adding some kind of strap or belt to around the opposite shoulder would also help bear the brunt of those heavy 3/4 inch sheets as well. Could be used for drywall too, great video.
Fantastic idea mate!! Simple and yet so practical!!!😊😊 thank you for sharing Neil!!!👊👊😊
Thanks Jed! :)
Pask Makes you're very welcome!
Pask Makes you're very welcome!
good idea man 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool idea. Could've avoided a muscle strain years ago if I'd had one of these. Nice Work.
Damo
Thanks Damo! :)
¡Waw! que increíble ideas. Gracias
Thanks for sharing !
Nice simple design, i am going to make one.
Thank you Tim! :)
Thanks! Worked perfectly for me;-)
well done, and very funny ending :D
Thank you! :)
For me, I'm from BRAZIL is a great project since importing a similar one is very expensive. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
No worries Lucas! :)
just great
Brilliant
Simple and elegant. Works well. I tend to overbuild things like this. I would probably have added a wheel and straps and made the thing foldable.
Thank you - it can be easy to get carried away sometimes! ;)
jajajaja your idea is wonderfull. thanks. I like👍👍👍👍
Came for the sheet carrier, stayed for the Boosh t-shirt! Fun fact, I'm an extra on the live DVD! :)
I came looking for this tonight to watch it again so I can make one tomorrow. This time my brain supplied the Benny Hill tune Yakety Sax for the ending!
one could say that you... walked the plank... the ending made me laugh, did not expect that! thank you. neat idea, lovely execution of it. thank you for this vid!
No worries - glad you got a laugh out of it! :)
Muito interessante, suas ideias são de grande proveito, parabéns pelo trabalho
Obrigado Fernando! :)
Nice idea! They sell things like this, but I think it's way better to make your own, especially if you are a maker by trade!
Thank you! :)
very nice. goo idea
Built this, works great. A couple of tips:
- Don't make the outside (tapered) bit too high, or it's unnecessarily hard to lift a sheet of 3/4" or 1" over it (heavy). I ended up knocking an inch off my first build.
- I added a couple of wedges to each side of the face that sites on the ground so the carrier freestands a bit easier without falling over. This makes it easier if you're lifting a sheet from flat (trailer, stack, etc) and putting it onto the carrier directly, rather than putting it down then doing a separate move to life it onto the carrier while you're holding it.
Sounds great. We'd love to watch your video. If didn't record, make one for your family.
THANK YOU!!!
Your design is sooooo much better than any of the store bought, like Stanley, or panel carriers which are really hard on your shoulder. Time to fire up my miter saw and table saw. THANKS.
Palm trees and English accent. You live in Florida?
now i feel like i should take my plywood for a walk. its been ages since its been outside lol
Probably something I should make. I'm not getting any younger and plywood isn't getting any lighter..
The only problem is I know deep down in my heart of hearts I would never be able to find the darn thing when I need it.
Thanks! I'll be making one .
No worries Michael! :)
Nice!
Thanks mate! :)
for a longer walk you could attach it to your kid's skateboard.
Very nice; gotta make myself one of these. I was half expecting you go take that piece of plywood out onto the road and then thumb a ride. Now, THAT would have been funny.
Haha - thanks Will! :)
Gute Idee,einfach aber effektiv......!
Man u r cool
Enjoy your videos
You don't take your wood for a walk, though that was your secret for becoming one with the wood. 😂🤣
Mighty boosh!
Good for body mechanics! My back thanks you...
Great video. Thanks for taking the time.
Is this what aussies call walkabout? Plywood walkabout :)
G'day mate.
awesome
Thanks! :)
Muito bom e funny 😂👏🏼👏🏼🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
nice work thanks a lot. woooooooooooooooooow
No worries Ameed! :)
Another simple but effective build from you Neil, thanks mate. My only concern is, will someone bring out a version with threaded rod, and add the word "jig" to it? I can also see where someone will invent a jig to take plywood for a walk using a threaded rod jig, attached to a cordless drill........ hmmmm
Max, I think you are definitely over thinking things! ;) lol
Pask Makes yup too early for thinking nice comeback mate 👍
that plywood walk. did you have a bag for the sawdust dump?
nice idea pask
mediocre toker
ROFLMAO!! Good one! I am still waiting on the day that I can briny plywood in for a while, it's not yet house broken and I don't like sawdust all over the floor more than anyone else does lol.
Haha - thank you! :D
inteligente idea
Thank you Jose! :)
What's the image on the t-shirt. I love it.
What did you do this evening Will? Oh not much, just watched a guy take his plywood for a walk around the yard.
Ace.
Haha - glad you liked it! :)
Super cool to hear Aussie birds in more RUclips woodworking videos by the way, keep up the awesome production style! :)
After a nice walk, does your plywood fetch? 😉
Well done, nice and easy 👍🏻
I've yet to start training it! Thanks! :)
Since I can only say again Wouuuuuuuuuuuuuu top
Thank you Martin! :)
Ha ha, that's awesome
4:30 Ha ha ha!
That's pretty neat. So, what your saying is, that's it's not normal to take your plywood for a walk? I've been doing that for years, ho hum.
Thanks Benjamin! I believe it's good to air your problems! ;)
🇨🇱🇨🇱👍👍👍
with two Rollerbladeweels it would be much easyer i think... ;)
Maybe Joe - but it really isn't that difficult to carry and I'm not that strong either! :)
Pask Makes ... i know ... but think on your back ...
:))
1/2 is easy. 3 @ 1/2 at a time is easy. You start getting into 5/8 4x8 MDF... or 12' drywall... No offense, but 1/2 4x8 is one of the easiest, lightest boards to carry. It would be more impractical for me to use your tool than grab 2 or 3 sheets and go.
No offence taken Eric but you must be far stronger than me if you can carry 3x half inch sheets at a time! btw it was a 3/4" sheet I was carrying which I think most average guys would find heavy enough. :)
Pask Makes I've done it so long it's second nature. I'm a load builder.
if I brought that to work the guys would laugh at me, boss would ask if I needed time off and the customers would ask if I need help
Clever dick! Building one now : )
Haha - thanks! :)
You are not showing off your tool, but your palm and arm muscle.
jajajaja
My wife just asked why I was walking in circles carrying plywood
Hey, don't blame me Chris - you are your own man! ;)
Some of my best home made tools are some of the ugliest things you've ever seen.
that's smaht
Thanks! :)
