Hever Castle Tour: Anne Boleyn's Home.
The first castle on that site was built in 1270 which later on was transformed into a manor by Geoffrey Boleyn in 1462. Anne Boleyn spent her childhood after her father, Thomas Boleyn, inherited the Hever Castle in 1505. It remained in possesion of the Boleyn family from 1462 to 1539.

Nestled in Kent's picturesque countryside, Hever Castle is steeped in tales of romance, intrigue, and Tudor grandeur. This historic site is renowned for its association with Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII. Among its many events, the Jousting Tournament stands out, showcasing Tudor court splendor.
In the 16th century, jousting epitomized medieval chivalry and prowess, blending skill, bravery, and honor. Hever Castle, then owned by the Boleyn family, hosted these tournaments, attracting knights seeking glory and court favor. It was here that Anne Boleyn, an enigmatic lady-in-waiting, caught King Henry VIII's eye, altering English history.
Anne, known for her beauty and intelligence, captivated many, including the king. As Sir Thomas Boleyn's daughter, she was adept in courtly manners and drew attention. During a Hever Castle jousting tournament, Henry VIII became smitten, igniting an affair that led to her becoming queen consort.
Hever Castle's grounds and elegant architecture provided a backdrop for Anne and Henry's love. In its tranquil gardens, they spent precious moments away from court. The castle's rooms witnessed their secret courtship, deepening their love.

Brings back fond memories of when we took our two sons there when they were young, they loved the maze garden and getting splashed on the stepping stones and I loved Anne Boleyn's garden especially! I feel you missed so much of the lovely gardens they are so vast, shame your visit was kind of rushed, it's a lovely place to spend the whole day! Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful oak paneling and carving all throughout the castle. I always wondered how Anne of Cleves felt after the castle was given to her, and how many times she stayed there. I wish the portraits had captions, and all the other rooms had captions also.

Why would Henry VIII give away a property that belonged to the Boleyn's to Anne of Cleves? Or, did he kill her and her brother and dishonoured all their family barring them from their property and all that was their heritage?

Love the video! I was there on a solo backpacking trip 4 years ago. Somehow you managed to make the walk there calm and serene. I on the other hand found it terrifying. There was often no place to walk but directly on the street and found myself preparing to jump into the bushes if necessary to keep from getting run over by fast-moving traffic. When I reached the town I found a woman working in her garden and asked if there was a tram or something to take tourists to the castle. She explained no and when she could see my frustration she gladly offered to drive me rest of the way. There were never clear directions so I found myself wandering in the fields, getting lost on the way back to the train station. Otherwise your video is excellent and brought back amazing memories! I just wanted to point out getting to Hever is NOT easy.

Brings back such good memories. We visited on a wed and thurs in early July 2019. It was not crowded and we took our time. We had also come from St. Pancras Sta but rented a car and stayed a couple nights at the Greyhound Inn not far from Hever. The castle is so beautiful, but the grounds are amazing. so many different gardens. We walked all the way around the man made lake and into the shady gardens full of rhododendrons. We stopped at the tea room along the lake and watched a gardener work on an espalier. What a wonderful day, thanks for letting me relive it a bit.

A very well made video , so comprehensive that it shows almost everything of Anne's home -- from the coming to and going back from it. However , how much better would it have been had all the portraits shown in the video as well as the everyday objects used by the Queen in her early life been labelled or narrated verbally. Nevertheless , the video is excellently made, ideal for people living far away in other countries such as India. Thanks.

It is such a pity that you went through all the trouble to get there, and on foot all the way from the station and not have taken the opportunity to capture the very many details and history of the castle. I stopped watching half way through, totally disheartened by the lack of historical content. For a tour of a historical palace/mansion, house, etc., you need to take the time to document so many items, portraits, etc., all that you are seeing. Anne Boleyn is huge in history and to see her home and just run through it with your camera, was not fair.
Also, to get there from Hever station is a huge walk through pathways and open fields with nobody insight to ask questions since the signage was rather poor, if there was any at all. There must be another way to get there taking a shuttle bus, some form of transportation; very odd the way you took to get there; mind you, the fields were lovely in a lush green.
    Thank you.

Thank you for this. I like this try it before you buy it type of video. I can’t wait to visit England. Half my dna is eastern Yorkshire. This place reminds me of the Methodist church building in Plattsburg Missouri where I was indoctrinated with the bull💩 of Christianity growing up. Fascinating how similar that looks to the church I grew up in. I think I’d like to put flowers on Anne’s grave and go visit all things that existed before the Jesus Christ lies. I need a break from that drama and unholy decor.

The first thirty one minutes of the film is a tube system and people walking and riding towards the castle. Thirty one minutes. Fast forward. Save yourselves.

Thank you for watching my video. This is my type of narrative because I enjoy riding a train, walking through the beautiful English countryside. And what is not less important I've made an attempt to show how to get to the Castle, what to expect, what could see along the way.

I like the way the video was made, it helped to understand how to get to the castle in a variety of ways. And, it feels like you are the one on the tour!
The best thing about technology is you can fast forward or rewind how you like.
