Hi, DrPH is a great degree option. There are programs that offer dual MPH/DrPH programs. This may be a great option for you. Pros- DrPH allows you to become an expert in the field of public health. Con- if you are wanting to work on the administration or management side of the healthcare industry having this degree are not preferred for such roles.

Hi good day. I'm a retired Environmental Health Inspector with a burning desire to embark on my PhD degree in Public Health. I applied at our local University here in Trinidad and Tobago some years before retirement but there wasn't a program in the area that I wanted. Then I worked as an adjunct lecturer after retirement which has slowed considerably since COVID. I have reached out to a few online universities but the fees when converted in my local currency are exorbitant. Could you recommend some universities which might be offering scholarships to retired professionals who are desirous of continuing their education to PhD level; especially as it relates to Health Promotion & Sustainability in neglected communities or small States?
Hi Angela! Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! I will be posting a video in the upcoming days about international universities and will ensure to answer your question. Feel free to turn on your post notifications to not miss out!
I'm a practising medical doctor under 2years in Nigeria. I have great interest In PH. I intend going for a DrPH program? I do not have an MPH though. What are your thoughts on this?
Hi, thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! To answer your question, it depends on the university's requirements. In the US, if you have an advanced degree like an MD, some universities would allow you to do a DrPH without having a specific Master’s degree in public health. But once again it depends on the university and its program criteria. I recommend you do some research and contact the schools of your interest to ask further questions on whether you would qualify for their DrPH programs. All the best!
