this is super cool, im in the process of putting a turbo in my matrix, I have the turbo, ecu, and manifold. Im also gonna do the exact same upgrades in terms of the tranny and clutch. I was a little iffy on the idea of pushing around 220 hp but seeing this one put my mind at ease. These cars are great sleepers, the only people I see driving them are old women so no one would expect 200 plus hp. keep us updated!!
@@matthewyatsuk9299 this is my first build as well, but essentially you need: the turbo, a turbo manifold, an ecu, an intercooler, a map sensor, an O2 sensor, a boost controller, though not 100% necessary to run, it might help to also have a gauge cluster that shows boost as well as oil temp. piping to go to and from your intercooler, if your turbo has an oil cooling port you will also need to put a tap in your oil pan to set up the cooling loop. You will have to get your exahust done as well because when you push more air into the motor more has to come out. You will also need to know how to tune or have acess to somone who does. If money were not a problem for me i would just by the turbo kit from Monkey wrench racing. Also, due to the nature of the 2zz you may want to build the engine as well due to the really high rev range and compression ratio
Literally only old women . I used to feel bad in mine but after having conversations with my tech and seeing this video , it’s gonna be on my bucket list

I went to vegas from phoenix in a a pontiac vibe I just purchased. It really didnt like going up the mountains I rev it hard ging up hill and temperature climbed from 185/190 to 205 easy which scared me a bit just turned off a/c and temp went down right away down hill and straight. I wonder if a supercharger will be better for that or just a ticking time bomb pushing it even more. Probably the reason the first engine blew up upon running hotter/forced induction makes the piston rings expand curl and take the piston crowns off. Maybe filing down the piston rings a bit would help, but ask a speed sop or make further research on that. I almost went airborne too on some hills this things do great on even roads.
How much does a supercharger really hit reliability? I’m gonna look at one soon but was not sure if it would be to much of a risk. Wanna just daily drive it
