Yes, Jimmy always did that. And yes, Robert always did that. It doesn't get much more classic Led Zeppelin than Jimmy playing something mind-boggling while Robert moans his encouragement. 😂
This concert movie ("The Song Remains the Same") mixes in cinematic fantasy sequences--one for each band member. This is Robert Plant's. Jimmy Page's is during "Dazed and Confused". John Paul Jones during "No Quarter". John Bonham's during "Moby Dick". The film starts with a sequence involving band manager Peter Grant & road manager Richard Cole. It shows the band assembling to travel to New York for the concert. It also chronicles a real-life robbery that took place at the band's hotel. Filmed in 1973 over 3 nights at Madison Square Garden, it wasn't released until 1976, while the band was on hiatus following a car accident involving Robert Plant & his family. A soundtrack album was released as well.
John Petrie .I love the movie ‘Dazed and Confused’ I know you weren’t referring to the movie in anyway but I’m bored. 🤘🏽Zeppelin. Stay healthy my friend
Hi! I think most of us that love Zeppelin saw this movie a few dozen times. I know I did. I had such a crush on Robert Plant if I was any good at tracking him I would have been a groupie lol. Thanks for doing these 2 together. Stay safe my friend
@@juliemanarin4127 then I would have recruited you to look for them with me 😂 I lived on Long Island so whenever they played MSG we thought they would be at the Hamptons with all the other rich people so we went searching there. You should try the live version of "In my time of dying" from Earl Court. About the footage, the guy who made the video use different version of the film (that's why some part are in bad quality) to show as much as he could of the live performance. That's why you can't really understand the story in The song Remain the Same, part of the story is cut and replaced by old live footage
JPJ is a very underrated master musician, both on bass and keyboards. Jimmy switches between 6 and 12 string guitar with such ease. John on drums was unmatched. And of course Robert on vocals is so powerful, and these together made Led the premier rock band. Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were masters of switching the tempo in many of their songs, and this made the listener pay more attention to them, and made it more exciting. And the rabbit hole gets deeper for you. Enjoy ✌️😎

This whole concert was named "The Song Remains The Same" and there is a double album and video of it. I saw it at it's cinematic release - it was awesome. There were several "fantasy" parts to the whole film. Including people with swords. Even an old Obi Wan person with a light sabre.
Remember that mushroom you didn't want him to eat well I think it led to these scenes 😂 but the song is a masterpiece (rain song). Have you heard Thank you it's on the 2nd album or Going to California that one is one the 4th album, to me those 2 songs fall into the rain song kinda vibe. I love your reactions!
So glad you reacted to this. One of my favorite songs of any band. I love both the studio and the live versions. My go-to bubble bath song! In My Time of Dying has a live version. Maybe that would go through. Yes! Moby Dick!
Ten Years Gone - my favorite zeppelin song, another slow, vibey epic. Ten Years Gone, STairway, and the Rain Song are basically triplet twins yet all unique and beautiful.
Rain Song...just Jimmy in front of the entire crowd in MSG (well, keyboards, too)...has em mesmerized . Best segue ever. gothmog9407 I read that the song was written by Plant as a remembrance of his girlfriend, who ten years before, when he was 17 told him he had to choose between her or his music. Lucky for us he followed his muse and his destiny. He has paid a price for his driven creativity and wanderlust.....but as he himself has said “show me a happy writer and I’ll show you a bad writer”. He has lived an amazing life, but it hasn’t been an easy one
Thanks for uploading both of these songs together. They go so well together. It's probably my favorite part in The Song Remains the Same (movie). Why not upload In My Time Of Dying to Vimeo or Google drive? I'd love to see it, especially since that's one of my favorite Zeppelin songs.
You literally could take a lifetime making a ‘Top 25’ of Zeppelin! I started really listening in HighSchool and I was somewhat late to the party 🎉 I was just born a few years too late. But! I’m old now, still working on my Top 25. I have a Top 25 of the 90’s but that’s from 8 different bands
I prefer the album version as I do with all of their tracks. People will disagree but Pages production always nailed it. You can always hear every instrument on their albums. Everything was produced and played to perfection. But it’s still great to witness a live version.
That sword remained in the sand on that beach for (I think) forty years. There was a TV show a few years back where Robert Plant was interviewed by Brian Johnson from AC/DC, where he retook the sword that he'd placed in '73
Album 1 from Physical Graffiti. EVERY song is amazing. Trampled Underfoot and In my Time of Dying you can find live from the 1977 concert which are awesome. All the little videos are in the actual vhs movie at the time. This concert is from 73 but the vhs didn't come out until 75. The Song Remains the Same was one of the films that they ALWAYS played during midnight madness on Friday and Saturday Nights in certain movie theaters. This, The Wall, Rocky Horror. Clockwork Orange. Eraserhead.
Jimmy Page is a totally unique guitarist in that so many songs it's true that the solo starts when the song starts. It ends when the song ends. This is a great example. I remember well when this movie came out. Saw it at a midnight showing. What a party that was! At first I hated the non-concert parts but now it's ok. When I saw them live in 1975 & 1977 and heard this song it was awesome...of course!
Jimmy Page live was always busy riffing throughout the entire show. They would go into extended jams during songs for several minutes. The video pieces are from the concert video “song remains the same” were each member has a fantasy character. For this song it was the swashbuckler as portrayed by Robert Plant.
So glad they used the uncut version with real video snippets inserted in TSRTS. The fantasy sequences just don’t work these days for me. Roberts voice in The Rain Song heavy part is the best I have ever heard him sing. Powerful !!!

Great reaction! The studio version of the "Song Remains The Same" sounds like an awesome guitar solo too. "The Rain Song" is how one should write a ballad, in my humble opinion. Meaningful lyrics without the sappiness. I would indeed recommend "Moby Dick" from the same concert.
When JPP is on, he is the greatest live rock guitarist ever. Seen him twice with Plant and he just killed. Saw Blackmore and actually met him, but, Jimmy was much better live to me.
