  • A bus from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden is the cheapest option. Bus 840 is a direct bus to Berchtesgaden from Salzburg with no transfers needed and is 20 minutes faster than the train. You can buy a ticket from the bus driver in cash. The bus ride takes about 55 minutes.
    Berchtesgaden is a German town in the Bavarian Alps on the Austrian border. Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest retreat, the Kehlsteinhaus, is south of Berchtesgaden and it can be reached by a short bus ride from Berchtesgaden's main bus station.
    In this video, you will see Hotel Schwabenwirt which has the best location for visitors who will be using public transportation. Schwabenwirt hotel is just about a 3-minute walk from Berchtesgaden train station and bus station (Berchtesgaden Hbf).

    I was stationed in Berchtesgaden for a couple of years and have stayed at the Schwabewirt. Very nice, and great video!

      I think they allow it. I only had small carry-on luggage. I am not sure what happens if you have big luggage.

    Thanks for the videos. My wife and I are planning a trip for Sept 23 and we were planning on renting a car to explore Salzburg and Berchtesgaden. After watching your videos I’m rethinking that

      You are welcome. Renting a car will definitely give you more flexibility and you will end up saving a lot of time because you won't have to rely on the bus schedule. Having said that, the public transportation is so awesome in the Berchtesgaden area and it is free if you stay in any hotel there.

      It is too far. You need to take a bus/tram or a taxi.

    How much bus fare from Salzburg?

    • @WandererBell
      @WandererBell  10 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t remember the exact amount but I think it was 8 Euros or less. You buy it directly from the bus. They take cash only.
