Rode is cool, but DJI offers all kinds of equipment for shooting weddings, including equipment repair service, so you get a choice in the end

I’m gonna make the irrational choice and choose DJI because I like their branding.

The white version of the DJI Mic2 is actually perfect for weddings, the color is very subtle and blends in nicely.

What are your thoughts on using the mic on the DJI instead of a lavalier? From what I heard you can record directly onto that without a transmitter and sync up later. I also read the ly have a firmware update allowing you to prevent people from pushing buttons while recording.
I thought it might be easy to hide the DJI Mic under a tie, collar or shirt

Dr10l pro is cool. But it needs lavs to recording. Is there a small size internal recording device as small as rode or dji transmitter and does not require lav mic? Seems if I need such device, use rode wireless transmitter or dji transmitter as standalone recorder is the only option I can find.

I have purchased a Shure MVL lavalier mic for the DJI 2. The only add on you will require with the MVL is a TRRS female to TRS male adapter. The MLV has a TRRS male.

The touchscreen and wheel on the receiver is enough alone to get the DJI over the rode, ESPECIALLY FOR WEDDING FILMMAKING. Weddings are the last place you want to be clicking little buttons in the right order on a wedding day when time is of the essence.... IMO the only thing Rode has over the DJI is the locking 3.5mm and the "fuller sound" But both those pros are super weak compared to all the features, relability, usability, intuitiveness, thought out and practfulness of the DJI. Also Ive never had a Lav disconnect from my transmitter and this is on crazy grooms dancing around (especially with the cable looped behind the clip) etc. Also IMO its better to have a flat neutral audio response then the bassier "fuller" sound of the Rode. I rather apply my own EQ and preferences to sound in post. You mentioned the power buttons accidently being pressed causing the noise isolation. This can be an easy update in firmware, (doesnt really matter when you can turn this setting on and off manually on the reciever). In other tests the DJI cuts out far less and has better range than the Rode. Also because you can charge the DJI TX while its on and recording is a HUGE WIN over the Rode (not a wrinkle). The fact i know if for some reason the DJI mics arent charged i can plug in a small external battery that can go on the subject is huge deal. The DJI is a major win over the Rode professionally. (i have had to use rode mics before. coming from a freelance professional and creative agency employee)

Tell me you didn't go through the menus of your product without telling me you didn't go through the menus of your product you're reviewing. There is a locking button setting when you go into the menus to keep yourself from shutting the transmitter off. Sigh...

Both STILL far too big!!! So long as you're going to be out of the wind, the Shure Movemic gives the best audio and is lightest; but it's windmuff is useless!

Hi Matt. I've been loving your content for years. I'm wondering why nobody's making a comparison video between not only those two wireless mics but those two VS TASCAM DR-10L PRO(, especially sound quality-wise). I'm thinking of getting either Røde or Tascam. Do you think it's a must to have a transmitting function?

    • @mr.croissant7960
      @mr.croissant7960 5 месяцев назад +1

That’s what I’m saying. Matt actually inspired me to look it up but no one‘s doing a legitimate review on the two. I don’t think it should matter if it’s wired first vs wireless. Good audio, is good audio. People will give up conveniences to get better quality

Another win for the RODE is that you can keep the wind screens attached while inside the case! :)

Thank you for your exceptional and thorough , as always , review .....
If i may ask , why is the Hollyland Lark M2 missing from the comparison ?
I know it is NOT a 32bit float wireless mic .... but maybe it was a chance to show to the world that 24bit/32bit difference is literally and practically insignificant
when audio levels are properly monitored.
Especially when there is a brand new mic (1.5months old) in the market , at a fraction (less than half) of the pricing of the competition ,
which literally blows out of the water (according to multiple reviewers and far too many comparison tests , during the last month) the new wireless versions of DJI/RODE
in terms of "good old authentic" AUDIO quality.
Again , THANK you for your time and your effort.

After I saw you explaining about charging during using for Wireless Pro not working. It's not true when I tested it, if full battery during using and you plug charge cable to TX or RX, it will not show charging symbol on RX screen until Battery reduce from 100% you will see the symbol charging during using. For TX, you will see light green blinking during charging. Please try.
